  1. As a Well fan in exile, I am now a season ticket holder at Charlton. Soare started last season at the Valley and was welcomed by a similar response. There’s no doubt the bloke has a great pedigree. The problem is that he has never truly recovered from the car smash in 2016 that nearly crippled him. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2017/sep/18/pape-souare-crystal-palace-car-crash-interview Come January, he was let go and his squad role was taken by Matt Penney. I really want it to work out for him at Motherwell.

  2. Another game for Kettlewell to assess the fringe players. Souare looks like he could be a player. Took up good forward positions. Obika Held the ball up well and looks very strong. Slattery looking more like his old self and looks a lot fitter. Spittal right on his game. Bevis, not a better centre half in the league in the air, ball at his feet is another story. Lamie what can I say that hasn't already been said. In saying that playing on a park that resembled a sponge with strange bounces everywhere probably didn't help. Need more firepower up front as Wilkinson doesn't look to be an out and out striker. Kettlewell will know by now the areas he needs to improve on and the players he can rely on.

  4. Just because Spiderpig says Moult was a bang average footballer and MJC agrees doesn't makes it true. I hope we can sign some more bang average players of the same level.

  5. I'm a bit torn on midfield. We probably need another body but I don't want to only see Miller when Slattery is suspended...

  6. Oh, absolutely. I agree 100%, and my argument isn't that we should be giving players like Moult another runout at the club. I'm just making the point that those fans who say they think it would be amazing to see him come back and reclaim his status as our top goalscorer etc shouldn't be mocked for that. There's nothing wrong with being what I'd call a football romantic. God knows with the amount of oil money and cynicism in the game these days we could do with more old fashioned romanticism than ever before.

  8. I don't think anyone other than you has raised the question of either of those players being regarded as bigger than the Club. And the players certainly have said or done nothing to suggest they think that way either. What most fans recognise is that both players contributed greatly to our Club and added to Motherwell FC on and off the pitch. Not that many players past and present have contributed to the extent they have. Unlike a sad, few, fickle fans on here I would be delighted if Moult rattles in 30 goals this season, no matter who he scores them for and as long as they don't contribute to a defeat for us. I think that after his run of terrible injuries he deserves some good fortune. Many less determined players would have given up by now. Credit to him for that. I don't really think he will score those goals but I wish him well. And my take on both players attempts to continue playing for us is that most fans were desperate for them to do themselves credit, but nobody was screaming out for them to get more game time when it was clear they were not fit and therefore not contributing to the team. In fact it was extremely depressing watching them try their utmost but fall short. Both were punts worth taking, but punts that did not work out. Maybe that does not suit your storyline but it is reality. But here is a question for you. Given he is only 31, and if Moult comes through the entire season injury free and scores upwards of 15 league goals for Utd would you entertain his return next season at age 32? Won't be an option of course, because if he does prove the doubters wrong, then Utd will extend his contract and he will likely be back at Fir Park wearing their colours.

  9. Agree with that. There were times when their midfield were winning 50/50 balls way too easy which put us under unnecessary pressure. Going forward the midfield looks fine but defensively it does look a bit on the light side at times. Compared to this time last season it's still night and day in terms of shape and fitness.

  12. Not gonna lie, I would absolute love to see McFadden pull a pair of boots on again for Motherwell haha

  13. Yup. It was a comment on the gibberish reporting from BBC, Sky Sports (who still have Queens winning the shoot out) etc.

  14. East Fife are top of the group because they get a bonus point for winning a penalty shoot out and we don't, cos we lost it by scoring more penalties, though QotS took more than us, apparently.

  15. Why you seem to take so much pleasure in belittling and trying to wind up your fellow supporters is baffling. I personally don't think Moult has what it takes at this level now, sadly. But I'd never dream of mocking any Motherwell fan who still holds out hope and would love to see a fairytale ending.

  16. It’s just a sad reflection of Scottish society to be honest, not just our support. There’s too much fear and cowing of Celtic and obsession of Rangers and far too much credence is given to both of them.

  17. I'm absolutely in favour of two teams being relegated from the Premiership every year, even though it puts ourselves in greater danger. The currently league set up is a bit stodgy and airless. We pretty much see the same teams every year and we need a greater turnaround of teams going in and out of the league. If you compare it to some of the lower leagues in Scotland, they are getting a 40% turnaround in teams competing in the division some seasons. It keeps things fresh but the Premiership is rather dowdy and I doubt turkeys will vote for Christmas.

  18. Honestly, some of the patter in this thread is cringeworthy. The very notion that our kit designer and our club should take anything a group of laddies who bang a drum and wave flags in a corner of Parkhead think about our kit into account when making a commercial decision is absolute madness. That these guys actually take up enough space in Motherwell fans heads to even be a factor is mental. Honestly, who cares what they think? Or what they say? All this "we're just giving them a reason..." nonsense? You don't think they already have a million reasons in their deluded minds as to why we're all "secretly" Rangers fans? While the blue version of them in the other half of the city has their own little takes of those same reasons to think we're all "secretly" Celtic fans who hate "the Rangers." Interestingly, I come from a family that rests firmly on the green side of the divide. A fair number of Celtic fans, with absolutely no one making any kind of connection with our strip and anything untoward. Not a single peep from anyone. This is a case of a very small minority on social media making a racket, as is usually the case. It's bollocks, and that Motherwell fans are even giving a shit is astounding.
