As I said on here after the initial vote, there was no way I'd want to surrender control of the club to any investor. The derisory offer is exactly why. The details are pretty much the kind of undervalued nonsense I anticipated. If it had been the kind of offer that Brailsford made at Man U - 25% of the shares and some influence over the running of the club - I'd have been interested to hear more. And I still don't see an exit strategy. I think he's trying to emulate the Glasers and get control of a club at an undervalued price with minimal investment coming from his own pocket. Anyone who votes in favour of this would be voting for the destruction of the club; and I don't say that to be dramatic. It's a terrible offer.5 points

Folk really need to stop saying the Well Society is not fit for purpose. The Well Society previously was not fit for purpose because it was set up that way by the incumbents on the club board to get the benefit of of the money raised but without the interference that would come with true fan ownership. The fact that Society Members have had the temerity to vote individuals onto the Society Board who might actually want to change that and have a real say in the running of our club appears to have brought a lot of this to a head. Its clear from detail given that McMahon has been pushing this deal and that Barmack doesnt want to be inconvenienced by a rejuvenated Well Society trying to influence any decision making. He appears to have been assisted by Dickie and Feely in this regard which is a clear conflict of interest. How else can you explain a proposed deal with 1 side putting in £1.95m over 6 years and gaining 49% of the club whilst the other side puts in £1.75 over the same time period to lose 25% of its existing stake? Barmack also gets effective control of the club from day 1 for only £300k and an 8% stake due to his chairmanship and board appointees? The deal is ludicrous and should be chased. The new Well Society Board have only been in place since October. In that time they have done their due diligance on this and are putting together their own proposals to strengthen the club going forward. They are all all Motherwell fans with the best interests of the club at heart. They have a diversity of skill and experience. They deserve a chance to show they can can do better than the ones who got us to this point.4 points

Im not sure how Motherwell are in such a bad way that we need outside investment when there are such titans of the financial industry on this forum. Lets make our mind up when we see what the WS have to offer against this offer. Granted, on the face of it, in financial terms this offer doesn't seem mind blowing but is speculative and without doubt would open more doors than the WS in regards outward investment and opportunities to increase revenue streams. Fan ownership for me is a good thing but not if we stagnate as we have and in some degree we have gone backwards and now can't compete with our rivals. The WS in its current guise isn't fit for purpose, that much is clear but I do understand they are trying to change and I will make my mind up when both proposals are head to head and there are more details.4 points

It's sobering to think that they believe our support is stupid enough to accept this. Whoever the three people in favour of this on the Well Society board are need to be removed asap.4 points
-
McMahon mentioning that Barmack will take 49% in equity but not saying what the final Well Society total is. A fucking snake. Also it's obvious Barmack will just buy shares from Dickie or someone else to get to 50.1% A deal where the Well Society puts in money to have it shares reduced is even more of a rip off than I thought. He's not only giving Barmack the club for free but transferring him all the Well Society funds. Chopping 3 million off the value of the club due to debt to the Well Society and the Scot Gov loan is another piss take.4 points

No I simply don't think we should be handing over the club for £300,000 a year for the next 6 years.3 points

I understand the apprehension but the reality of the Well Society is summed up here. Today's details have not come out the blur yet here they are once again asking the fans to trust them to come up with an alternative AFTER they vote against the only offer on the table. For me it's all a tale of too little too late from the WS...the organisation have done absolutely nothing of note since taking the majority shareholding and are now all talk when that position is put up for debate. I would back this if I had a vote for the simple reason it diversifies the ownership and this is more income than the club is likely to get from the society. The clubs assets aren't touchable which will therefore of impacted the value whilst also giving some security. It may not be the big money but certainly it's bringing in some investment and some expertise.3 points

I said earlier that if the Society lost control I would cancel my direct debit, because there is no way I want to line the pockets of a new investor either now or when they inevitably sell up. That would still be the case for me now.2 points

Douglas Dickie has already left the Society board now that his attempts to screw us over have failed. We all knew exactly what he is anyway. I feel sorry for Feely because he's obviously put a lot of time and effort into the Society and now destroyed his reputation over this. Absolute madness from him. We all owe a big debt to Derek, Sean, Amber, Jay, Phil and whoever the 6th vote was. Standing strong against this shitty proposal is a huge demonstration of the value of fan ownership.2 points

A goalie that can catch a cross. The occasional clean sheet. Scoring the first goal in a home game. Just simple stuff like that really.2 points

Run the club the way it has been for the last decade. Invest in the squad in the right ways. Try and avoid costly situation like the Alexander exit. The cash flow of the club is going to increase as new TV rights for the league increase. Commercial deals increase. There is rumours of a Theo Bair transfer of around £1m. Lennon Miller is easily worth 5x that. And you think the club should be handed over for a pittance? Given The Well Society also has to forgive half the money owed to the club it seems like Erik doesn't actually have the money. He is taking the Well Society monney for himself in effect. That should be a complete non-starter and I don't know why anyone in charge of the well society should have agreed to that. And after he has taken our money he says that we can buy back the shares we gave him at an inflated price.2 points
-
I don’t consider 2 million over 6 years as serious money but maybe that’s just me.2 points
-
But they have shown zero actual ability to increase cash flow and as the statement says relegation would be curtains for the club and without Kettlewell we would have gone down this year. Invested in well society since the start and get pretty much nothing back. This is serious money coming into the club (haven’t heard of any other offers) while keeping the assets defended. dont want to hear anyone complaining about signings or us just spinning our wheels if this is rejected.2 points
-
That's my big bug bear , surely to recommend rejection the Well society should have a detailed counter 6 year vision.2 points
-
The investment offered by the Barmack’s over 6 years appears to value the Club at less than Lennon Miller’s worth alone and proposes the Well Society lose majority shareholding of the Club with the Barmack’s gaining the majority shareholding. I can't believe the negotiations have come this far on those terms. It reads like McMahon is trying to sell us cheap and run. As a longtime Well Society member, the deal on offer is unacceptable and so it can get in the bin. I note the Society has emailed members to that effect.2 points

It is embarrassing the guy is on a forum answering questions constructively as he can to have utter morons abuse him didn’t have too but at least trying to shine light on some stuff. I hope the Well Society have a plan of all plans to take us forward then or god help them looking at todays findings I wish them good luck.1 point

some of the responses I've see on twitter to him are disgusting , "fuck off " and "Fuck your offer" are really mutant material.1 point

It's not a counter proposal ffs. It's just a new plan. As someone said on P&B the onus for generating new revenue should be on the people working full time at Fir Park who are professionals in those areas.1 point

They don't need to offer anything right now to know this was a terrible deal that was presented. Doing nothing different this year is still better than accepting what The Sheep has to offer.1 point

So can someone tell me …. What is the well society’s strategic business plan or are they keeping that a secret. How to they propose generating income , keeping us in the top flight and giving us some form of entertainment and at least a couple of players worth turning up to watch over the next few years . This is like watching an election debate at the moment - everyone else is Sh**e according to the high and mighty but they can’t tell us what they can actually do to improve us- it’s like they’ve been involved in politics before !!!1 point
-
I also fear that is the case. Do we know what % of shares are currently held by each of Dickie and McMahon? Or what % the WS would actually have if this proposal went through? I can see the WS being sidelined in very quick time. Then again, they have been for years. But the dilemma I have is that I cannot see how the WS alone can generate sufficient funds to sustain us in the top division, dependent upon player sales for survival. That also....in my opinion....is fraught with too much risk. Their proposal needs to come soon and be realistic. Also I have to factor in that I do not trust McMahon and in my view he has undermined the Society since day one and has been party to Society funds being treated as a piggy bank to be raided at will. So I do not believe a word he says.1 point

I still am (although I've probably said somewhere in the past 51% fan ownership as well)? I haven't said anywhere I'm in favour of what's been proposed, very much the opposite; the point I'm making (probably badly, I'm still pissed off) is that if people are undecided on it based on what's been released today, they should wait to read what the WS are proposing to help inform whatever decision they want to make. Edit: having re-read what I posted, I can see how you got there. For clarity; this can get in the fucking sea where it belongs (in my opinion).1 point
-
He'll get 49% from a share issue. There's absolutely nothing stopping him from buying 1%-2% from a private investor and taking majority control.1 point
-
Absolutely, and as @steelboy has rightly pointed out, there's nothing to stop Barmack from purchasing other private shareholders' stakes to increase his own. His letter mentions selling his own stake down to bring in additional investment BUT there's no guarantees that's what will happen.1 point
-
I thought you were against anything that resulted in the Well Society having less than 51%? The idea that Barmack's offer has to be compared against the new Well Society plan is idiotic. His offer is pish and massively undervalues the club. If he's lowballing us when he needs us to vote for him what do people think he's going to do when he's in full control?1 point

We have to look beyond the money here. The Barmacks are and were never going to be a sugerdaddy to the club, bankrolling us with millions of pounds year in year out. What this is is an opportunity to open new avenues to selling the club home and abroad with the purpose of generating new fans and investment in a safe and sustainable way. The Barmacks have the knowledge and platforms to do just that. With the welfare and assets of the club protected and safeguarded I don't see what we've got to lose.1 point
-
People aren't trying to influence others here. Those who have taken the time, or had the time, to read and consider the details of both the Club's press release on the proposals and the Well Society's response are expressing their informed opinions. Vote as you like, but at your (the Club's) peril.1 point
-
I’ll vote for it for the simple reason I love the club and want a competitive team on the field. I’m also unhappy with how directionless the club has been since burrows left and how long our search for a CEO took. If I’m honest I’d be surprised if the well society are voted out but I do want it to be a close enough vote they maybe start getting serious and making changes to our footballing operations for the better.1 point
-
Well yes that is correct but that's only the money to acquire the club. The expectation is their business model will generate far more cash than we currently generate. Whether that happens or not who knows, but the £2 million is the purchase price not the expected cash generation, and that's the problem. Neither the Well Society or Investment team can tell us what they will generate. If the new investors could generate serious money it could be worth it. However that cannot be guaranteed. The WS are unlikely to come up with anything that generates serious money or they'd have done it before now surely. Some fans will be happy at that as they see it as no risk plodding along. You pay your money you takes your choice.1 point

From what I took from the statement, the ground is being excluded as an asset as it effectively cannot be sold (without a subsequent ~£40m investment for a new stadium).1 point

See the WS statement: “We anticipate that we will ballot our members on this over two weeks beginning 1 July, which will then allow the Well Society to reflect members’ views in the club’s anticipated shareholder vote. We are currently working on the logistics and more information will be sent to our members in due course. By this time, we will also share the Society’s plans for the future, if it remains as majority shareholder. These plans have been in development since the beginning of the year, with input from supporters, consultants, football experts and business professionals, and we now aim to expedite the publication of our plans within the necessary timescales. As part of the ballot process, we also intend to provide the opportunity to engage the Society Board on these proposals, both online and in-person.”1 point

McMahon is recommending that half the Club is sold for £2 million over 6 years, not accounting for debt, that the Barmack’s gain Exective Board control and Chairmanship from day one after a miserly investment of £300K, and that the Well Society has to stump up a large amount of cash only to lose majority share ownership by the end of the 6 years. Let that sink in. McMahon, and those Society board members who voted for this, should be shown the door immediately.1 point

You are 100% entitled to your opinion on Craig Gordon. But to call Clarke hopeless when he has got us to 2 back to back Euros and a World Cup play off in 3 attempts is way off the mark.1 point

Yeah you do have a point, but let’s face it, every single defender in Scotland has a catastrophic clanger in them, hence the reason they play in Scotland. i think Bevis will go and become a regular somewhere and do well. Just my view tho and I appreciate others don’t feel the same.1 point
-
Given that Gunn will be starting, and the third goalie is only there to pick up the cones, I suspect that Clarke just wanted to see what condition Gordon was in before making his final squad selection. Gordon is one of the best keepers Scotland have produced, but is well past it now and would only have been selected on an emotional level, not something Clarke is noted for. Kelly being in the squad appears to give us some added income, not to be sneezed at, so on that level, I'm happy enough with his selection. I'm not a huge fan of Steve Clarke, he is a bit too cautious for my taste, but I would disagree with describing him as hopeless, he has got us to two more tournaments than Vogts, Smith, McLeish, Burley, Levein & Strachan managed between them. At least we have two weeks of added interest before reverting to ABE.1 point

I rather hope we sell Bair to Blackburn - get cash and in exchange keep Gent and Vale. If we could get £700k + those 2 players it would be an excellent bit of business1 point
