No chance. She has spent the whole week asking the same idiotic questions over and over in an attempt to create the impression that the club is in some of crisis situation if we don't get immediate investment. She has spent almost her entire time on the board trying to derail any conversation about this takeover attempt.5 points

Excellent point. It is yet another example of how backward things are at present. I believe the Well Society representatives on the board view themselves more as club board members who relay information to the Society board, rather than actual Society board members on the club board to represent the wishes of the Society. In my opinion, they should have consulted with the Society board at large, then taken that vote outcome to the club board and voted accordingly, which would clearly have been to vote against the Barmack proposal in its current form.3 points

Apologies. I just took the £11 million from the earlier post. I still don’t think you could get £8 million for it, and my worries over the Well Society being able to direct an asset of this size still remain. in terms of Jim McMahon, as a company director he has a legal obligation to act in the best interests of the company which I am sure he feels he is doing - rightly, or wrongly. I’m not sure if ‘crooked’ is an apt descriptor for a lifelong Motherwell supporter who has dipped into his own pocket to ensure both you and I had a Motherwell team to watch on a Saturday.3 points

Anyone else think all the angst and psychodrama could be a false flag operation designed to form the plot/script/content of the first two episodes of a Netflix/Prime docusoap? 🤔😉2 points

Think they joking. Your upbeat and add a lot. You think Sparrow is on chicken feed? Or a nice little nest egg? 🐤🐤🐤2 points

Prompted by this, I gave in and read the P&B thread, or at least the last few pages. All I would add is ....... Listen to Vietnam91. If he is who I think he is, then he is in a better position than many to evaluate the entire situation.2 points

If you do, make sure to read the content posted by Vietnam91. Whoever that is, they're bang on the money and posting some excellent insight.2 points

This. Sometimes smart people ask stupid questions. Sometimes stupid people ask smart questions. Sometimes it's not easy to tell the difference. Either way, there's no need for a stupid answer - just scroll on by.2 points

It's pretty obvious that McMahon and Dickie want to get rid of the The Well Society and see Barmack as a means to an end. An wealthy American with zero track record is obviously a better option to them than working class fans from the East Stand having some influence. Fuck knows what Feely and Downie are thinking. They are both staying silent at the moment so I doubt they could actually explain it.2 points

We switch to playing rugby and relocate to East Kilbride. What a stupid question.2 points

. Hows about you get on the board or society. Then actually do something. I think you would not find it so easy to throw about negative and slanderous comments when you actually need to justify them to others. On the other hand your maybees just at the wynd up. 😏2 points

The well society said they weren't taking part in the negotiations. So I assume any vote wouldn't have been representing the well society position as they indicated a couple of months ago that they were not going to be part of the negotiations.. I assume then that the people who voted did so in their remit as board members and then felt they had to step down as there was a clear conflict of interests between that position and their position on the well society board. Clearly a lot of questions that need answering.1 point

Apparently McAvennie was spotted outside Fir Park saying "Whaurs ra burd?"1 point

Tom Sparrow is a young lad who's spent most of his career playing as a central midfielder in the under's teams (and on loan at Accies). This move represents his first big step up the ranks, so it should be quite an exciting time for him and us, as he has it all to prove, although there should be no expectations yet. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-sparrow/profil/spieler/6213651 point

Sorry but that response is out of order. The poster asked a genuine question, and qualified it, only to be treated like shite. Do you really think other fans are not asking or thinking the same thing? Not everyone is into this whole affair as strongly and aware as you are. Everybody on here is looking for the best way forward and with the Society's and Clubs best interest at heart. Are you big enough to apologise?1 point

That's pretty much where I'm at. I'm going to contact the Society board to find out the reasons why the 3 members voted to accept the deal. There must be some logic behind their views. I only want their collective reasons behind their vote no more. They're all Well fans as you say. No recriminations and no witchhunt. We may have different views within the support and thats only natural. As Mintymac suggests we now need to show some unity.1 point

What kind of skills? Skills like McMahon, Weir and Wilson where they managed to destroy Royal Bank Of Scotland and made every household in the country pay for it? The CEO is a professional who runs the club day to day. Our business is footballl, it's extremely straightforward and the primary income streams come via the SPFL, the SFA and UEFA. What we need in both boardrooms is honesty and intregrity.1 point

If you can sell Motherwell for £11 million then you’re a better person than me but realistically, taking away the emotion, it’s not worth that and nobody is going to pay it. The flip side is if it is worth £11 million the Well Society Board need to significantly up their game. There’s nothing I’ve seen as a member that has convinced me they are fit for purpose in terms of directing a football club of this size and stature. Hopefully their plan will alleviate these concerns when it comes out.1 point

It's good to see that people are taking a strong stand against the Well Society going below 51% but there's a lot more wrong with this proposal than just that. Any deal where the Well Society pays to have it's shareholding devalued has to be rejected and we need a proper valuation of the club. Anyone who values us at only 18% of the value of Hibs has an ulterior motive.1 point

Snap. I wonder how many other fans have reacted to this proposal in the same way. And good luck to yourself and wellfan on the new arrivals front.1 point

A positive I have seen today is that Barmack is definitely not hung up on the shareholding %'s....he seems up for reshaping the deal so WS remains at minimum 51% ..... That seems to be a big box ticker...... Another positive is that the WS board are spending time to put together a proposal and plan to increase funds coming into the WS and in turn benefit the club..... Surely the third positive would be that we find a way both proposals/parties work together as both proposals are working on bringing additional funds into the club with the aim of ensuring we remain competitive so surely both can co-exist and doesn't need to be one or the other? That for me would be the big win and best way forward1 point

Id vote for you. Your views on the WS and its involvement in the club mirror those of of my own.1 point

If we can get one of those Accies-type naming deals, I'm all in favour of that. Free money and we all still call it Fir Park.1 point

Having just caught up after a long day at work, how do we get StAndrew7 and Steelboy onto the Well Society Board?1 point

If more competence had been shown in the last 3 years by the Executive Board then I doubt this conversation would even been happening... Managerial sackings, making an absolute riot of the Hunter Stand refurb and some other very poor decision making at boardroom level has seen us regress on and off the pitch. We are in a position this summer where we can realistically earn somewhere between £3-4 million in transfer fees. That may well be transformational sum in our case. This should be spent overhauling our player trading model and further ensuring our academy pathway for years to come. I would start by appointing an experienced football person (probably as DoF) to oversee the entire football operation at the club. This would be a viable way to increase revenue without potentially jeopardising ourselves. Absolutely agree on your last line... it is time that the tail stopped wagging the dog. The Well Society board need to ensure that the Exec board is being held accountable.1 point
-
Food for thought..... In what other world does the owner of a business have so little input in the decision making of that business? Maybe now that the power struggle is over the owners of the football club could now have more say in the running of it?1 point
-
The BBC are simply after clicks. Nothing more. They don't even get the players on our team's names right sometimes. The Well Society can create a plan that improves the workings of the Society itself, but even if it came up with the best plan to draw investment that the footballing world has ever seen, they're not ideally placed to enact that. It all comes down to the actual board of the club, and the CEO. Those individuals are being paid (or should be getting paid) to do that job. Not the people who give up their free time to help run the Well Society. As an aside, if I was on the board of the Well Society and we came up with the plan for investment and for taking the club forward, I'd be looking to be more involved in the implementation of that plan and the running of the club. It's easy to forget sometimes, but the club board is answerable to the Society. Not the other way around.1 point
