I think there is a need for the Society Board to be very careful and diplomatic throughout all of this; they're a very public face of a very public opposition to something the Exec Board is pushing. I think resorting to calling out/naming and shaming wouldn't be in their best interests; it would just fuel the fire of those opposing them and give them more ammo to paint them as "daft wee lads and lasses who aren't business people". Being professional and doing things in the manner which they're doing them demonstrates an incredible level of control and dignity. They're also going to stand up on Wednesday and take questions and listen to their members/fans; something the Exec Board aren't willing to. That speaks volumes to their character and belief in what they're presenting. Edit: I think by all means we as fans/non-board members can call out the hypocrisy of certain ex-board members and others, but I think the current Board are handling themselves brilliantly.8 points

The plan looks good. Hopefully we can all get behind it as a support and move into the next stage of fan ownership. McMahon's deal gives us just six years of 'security'. The Well Society is how we genuinely secure the club for future generations of fans.4 points

Im going to be unpopular here and just to be up front I think EB's proposal isnt very good. But, Im very surprised about the amount of love for this WS proposal, it literally tells us nothing whilst using the word "stategic", 25 times and uses emotional language to get the fans behind it. This is literally as vague as EB's on funding projections, its quite poor really if you take the emotions out of it. No substance and is just a wish list, both sides MUST do better3 points

I've now read these plans twice. The document is realistic and encouraging, and I'm delighted with its quality. The new Well Society Board has got its shit together big time, which is commendable given the aggressive pressure from the conniving Chairman and unfair time constraints. As a member of the Well Society since 2017, I say well done to all involved, and I look forward to these plans coming to fruition. Anyone who still wishes to vote in favour of Barmack's (and the Chairman's) pie-in-the-sky proposal after reading the Well Society's sensible plans for both the Society and Club should seriously reconsider their support of MFC and their grasp on reality.3 points

I think @David has already covered this off a bit; this is a proposal, it's not a formal business plan. There's KPIs and ROI projections in the background which form part of the Business Plan side and will be discussed/released in due course I think. There's a danger with things like this that you overwhelm with too much information and a drip feed/progressive release of things often helps get messages across more efficiently. I understand you're not feeling it and that's fair but I do think there's more in this than anything Barmack has proposed on Twitter/P&B or in any of the lengthy statements released by the Club/Exec Board.2 points

For the record, while the proposal document outlines how the Society intends to raise funds through various revenue channels, it is not as detailed as a business plan, simply because such detail is not typically included in a proposal. Essentially, it is a presentation that charts the way forward. Key performance indicators (KPIs) and projected return on investment (ROI) for the avenues mentioned by the Society are already established and will be shared in due course. I am confident that these avenues will generate more revenue annually than what Wild Sheep Sports is offering, and without the need to relinquish almost 50% of the club or allow a very influential boardroom presence.2 points

Personal highlights, which I read as a fuck you to the Chairman and his cronies, are: A new shareholder agreement, drafted to ensure any ambiguity in the relationship between the majority shareholder and Club is removed. The appointment of new directors to the Club board to faithfully advocate the views of the membership commensurate with our 71.7% shareholding.2 points

A very well presented plan with achievable targets etc, a bit light on the details re what financial inputs from all revenue streams are required but as a proposal/ consultation document that's to be expected. Overall very impressive and if achieved and the Barmack offer is binned, I would probably join the WS and review my current opinion of the WS board as "enthusiastic volunteers ", if I had a vote I would vote yes to this option.2 points

Copied this from my thoughts on P&B: Personally, I think it's absolutely spot on with everything it's saying; it's realistic, achievable and it embeds the club in the community, which I think the majority of fans and WS members would want to happen. It's well presented, professional and has clearly been developed with people who absolutely understand how this all works and have experience across the piece in terms of strategic investment, data analytics and business acumen. The plans also show up just how little has been done to tap into the local business market by the current Exec Board and Club leadership. I think this is the kind of thing that everyone can get behind. There's also enough emotional/heartfelt messaging in there to remind people just what it is that we have as a collective fan owned club. "Motherwell FC, with its rich history and passionate supporters, is a cornerstone of this effort. Fir Park is more than just a venue for matches; itโs a place where friendships are forged, memories are made, and dreams take flight." This bit properly choked me up; I fucking love my Club.2 points

Here's a hypothetical example or two. I own a 4G (or 5G) football pitch company. I invest 50K into the club and lay a practice pitch for cost. In return I get 5 year's free advertising inside Fir Park and 50% of revenue generated by renting out the practice pitch. I'm a sports data company. I give you the equipment and software to use for free. In return, you give me all your player data for free and I combine that with other team's data that I combine and sell to sports scientists, universities, journalists and game developers. I invest 500k for new equipment and faclities in the academy. In return, I get 10% of transfer fees from academy graduates for the next 10 years, capped at 750k.1 point

In my opinion, the only way the WS can generate substantial increased revenue is for investment and not increased members. investors will want something in return for their investment. What are the WS offering in return? Shares/percentage of the club? Is that not the same as EB is offering right now?1 point

And the same person thinks EB can't have complete control because he won't have 100% of the share ....... staggering1 point

A lot of time and effort has been invested in this strategy, so well done to those behind it. It contains a lot of good ideas and there's plenty for us to digest and mull over. It does sound good, but will it work in practice? Much of its success or otherwise will depend on member input in the form of volunteering and thats where the Society has struggled so far. The Board cannot do everything on its own. How does it enlist the active participation of rank and file members? A few things stood out for me, but they're detailed issues, and they shouldn't detract from the overall quality of the document. I wasn't surprised at just how few members are contributing monthly. This is a legacy issue which arises from the confusion of the past, and one which I've raised before. Contribution levels also need to be more flexible. They should benefit the members, as opposed to making it easier for the Society, and make it easier for them to contribute. This does need to be addressed if financial targets are to be met. Understandably much is made of local connections and thats as it should be as we are a community club. However, some recognition could and should have been included of season ticket holders and members from outwith Lanarkshire, and indeed Scotland. There must be quite a few all told. Please don't forget us. I thought the spatial analysis of where season ticket holders and members live looks very interesting and promising, and if handled correctly, could yield some very valuable information. A final thought on numerous references to Fir Park. I didn't quite know what to make of them. Is the strategy saying we're staying at Fir Park come what may? Is a move away being rejected or is it just loose language? Anyway a good document but its just a start. Stage one is sort out the relationship between the Club (Executive Board) and its owner, the Society Board. A ridiculous polarised situation which mustn't be allowed to continue. Good to see a Society website being resurrected.1 point

Yeah. I think that some people think they are voting on one or the other - a few people on social media have said this - when it's not the case.1 point
-
That's it in a nutshell. No matter how it's phrased or framed, we're voting for or against Barmack next week. Yes, the Society will then get to progress its plan; but we can ALL be involved in that as fans and WS members and have our say in it, which is one of the key messages of their proposal.1 point

Aye, I think the midfield essentially have the League Cup groups to demonstrate that they're able to contribute effectively (albeit against somewhat lower quality opposition); otherwise I think we'll be dipping into the loan market, or even looking to spend some Bair money on a more dynamic presence in there.1 point

I think he was just making a general comment about people that are saying that, not you directly (as was I). ๐1 point

Agreed - someone on P&B suggested a "thinly-veiled" dig at Dickie and Feeney. There should have been no need to veil anything - they should have been named and shamed in that part.1 point

I would be surprised if it doesn't; I'm assuming that the data presented represents the (for want of a better management consulting bullshit phrase) low hanging fruit in terms of percentages etc. so other towns would be on the list, too.1 point

Well done to all involved in the creation of a structured, comprehensive and credible plan outlining the vast potential of our Club and Community. This document needs to land on the doorstep of every Business and dwelling in Lanarkshire (impractical I know but we all need to spread the word in any way we can) As a byproduct it certainly points to how complacent the current Executive Board have become over the years. And great to see Grimmy has not lost touch.1 point

Aye, I've had many dreams take flight at Fir Park, never to be seen again! Seriously though, I've always thought the investment path the Society should be following is the strategic partnership one and happy to see that's at the core of this one. A nicely laid out explanation of the plan.1 point

I saw Slattery in the gym on Saturday which suggests he's still a long way off a comeback or he would be in Holland. Callaghan is a crock and Halliday is finished. Davor is a dud and Paton is extremely limited. The other two have zero experience. We need more quality to play beside Miller.1 point

Adidas also pay Arsenal 70 million per year for wearing it. That's where the bigger clubs earn kit revenue.1 point

Can we cut SOD some slack? Really get fed up with the stick the guy gets. Aye he isn't the world's best but always an honest pro and when you hear him speak not the most confident lad. Wears the claret and amber so let's give him encouragement1 point
