  1. Feeley should not be chair. We cannot have the head of the Society a bloke who doesn't believe in the purpose of the society.

  2. Of course WS Board Members are entitled to a range of views. Essential for healthy debate and I hope different viewpoints continue to be openly expressed. But can I ask you? Should those WS Board Members who represent Society members on the Exec Board seek the views of the WS Board and ultimately the fans before voting on something as important as handing control of the Club to an external investor, reducing shareholder % and writing of debts? And if they do seek guidance should they go against the majority wishes of the WS Board? My view is they should have abstained from that vote citing the need to refer to the WS Board. The Club Exec would have still carried the day 3-0 but at least the Society would not have been seen to be supporting the deal, as it must have appeared to Barmack. Dickie and Feely either did not seek the views of their own Board or chose to ignore those views. That is the issue here. Not whether they hold different opinions.

  4. I can never understand looking ahead to who we might get when you consider the range of utter dross that has put us out of cup competitions over the last 50 years. There is no such thing as banker watching us. As Morton showed last season and many other teams beside. Take what we get and hope for the best , assuming we beat Thistle of course.

  5. @Mintymac, absolutely spot on. Any membership organisation is only as strong as it's members to an extent and it's more than important than ever that we all push forward collectively to grow fan-ownership and the football club. What I've been really impressed with in recent weeks and months is how many people have came forward to offer their skills, expertise and time. It's really important that we utilise our membership. We've got over 4,000 members and we need to find out what people can bring to the table. That doesn't necessarily mean sitting on a board or attending meetings every week, but it could be lending your skills to a project, giving pointers or opening doors etc. As a Society Board member (for now šŸ˜Š), I'd like to thank all members of The Well Society who engaged in the process regardless of opinion. Itā€™s been a costly, time-consuming and emotionally draining exercise, but this has been fan-ownership in action Itā€™s energised members, improved communication and boosted numbers. In my opinion, itā€™s a really positive time to be a Well fan and I hope everyone can start pulling in the same direction. Attention now immediately turns to delivering, alongside the Chief Executive and a new club board, on the strategy set out in our plan. We've also got the opportunity for members to join the board with elections in the coming weeks. If anyone is considering standing and would like to discuss what that may entail if you are successful, feel free to reach out. Another reminder that our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 12 August 2024. I'd really encourage all members who can attend to sign up and come along. If youā€™ve not already, please consider joining The Well Society, or if you are already a member please consider upping your subscription. Happy to answer any questions.

  6. I donā€™t wish them any harm either, I was making a joke of their bold but misguided natures. However, it remains that those involved from the Club (McMahon, Dickie and Feely) have to be removed via the proper channels. This proposed removal isnā€™t retribution or revenge or whatever, it is the proper course of action to take following their actions which have made their positions untenable. They have done this to themselves by creating the negative distraction, and it would be improper of any business to retain such individuals who have sought to undermine said business in the way they have.

  7. Not all Society members were against the proposal so to force society board members out would be wrong and sums up what was wrong with this entire debate within our support. If anything the Society board absolutely needs a range of views given how horrifically this was all managed.

  8. McMahon is outgoing. Dickie has quit the WS so his place on the exec board should be removed and Feeley should be removed as chair if he doesn't believe in the WS. He's welcome to finish his term and stand for re-election.

  10. Yeah but I don't care about character. I've never been friends or wanted to be friends with any Motherwell player. I support the club and I care about watching good players and watching good football and succeeding as a club. When I pick my Motherwell all time XI I don't bring into consideration wanky behaviour, responsible parenting, political beliefs, faithful marriage, criminal records, good guy status and so forth. Like I said I don't care about Tom Boyd's opinions on anything but I'll quote him from a 2022 interview with the suggestion that you're maybe getting your knickers in. a twist over not much. "We did not necessarily compete consistently but it was an unbelievable moment for us all that day. If you watch the footage back, you can see me shaking my head as I get handed the trophy because it was just an unbelievable moment for us as a team. ā€œTo lift the trophy for a club like Motherwell who have not had too many of those types of days at Hampden was special. It was a great day and a fitting way to leave the club. I will always be grateful to the club for giving me my start in professional football.ā€ Source : https://worldfootballindex.com/2022/08/tom-boyd-on-celtic-motherwell-captaincy-and-scotland/

  11. As part of the same "package" Don Goodman always seemed like a decent enough sort. Now one of Sky's better pundits, and he still sneaks in the occasional positive reference to his Motherwell days.

  12. Itā€™s not simply that he was a Celtic fan that Boyd is so hated, but I suspect you know that anyway. Tommy Coyne, Stevie Kirk, Faddy, Brian Martin, Owen Coyle, Phil Oā€™Donnell to name but a few were all Celtic fans and that fact was relatively well known but none of them are being put forward for ā€˜former players that you wouldnā€™t piss on if they were on fireā€™ so I think we can put any suggestions that the only reason Boydā€™s name is being mentioned is simply down to him ā€˜being a Celtic fanā€™ firmly to bed. Boyd has repeated shown himself to be an obnoxious arsehole who has frequently disrespected our club and our fans over the years despite where he started his career. Anyone who saw his behaviour before the 2011 Scottish Cup Final will know what Iā€™m talking about. The fact that he is also a Celtic fan on top of his odious behaviour does heighten my dislike for him as he represents the worst type of Celtic person for me and I make no apology for that. He has all the detestable Celtic attitubutesā€¦ arrogant, obnoxious, condescending constantly stirring shit and stoking up bad feeling and paranoia whenever heā€™s given a platform to open his mouth and canā€™t/wont see anything from a non Celtic perspective. Iā€™ve said this before on here, whenever Iā€™m unfortunate enough to have to watch our away games against them on Celtic TV I actually find Peter Grant (another well known Celtic fan and a player I couldnā€™t stand back in the day) ten times more tolerable than Boyd.

  13. According to Boyd his career started when he joined the green uglies, as if his time at Fir park and the 91 cup win never happened he's an obnoxious tosser.

  14. Tom Boyd was one of Motherwell's best ever players in the 40 odd years I've been supporting us. I don't really have it in me to hate on a player that did us a turn, never mind one of the best and one that was instrumental in the only success we've had in (almost) living memory. The fact that he's a Celtic fan doesn't bother me one iota.
