  1. This topic has shown we all have opinions on reasons for non attendance so i thought I would add my tuppence worth. i am 86 years old, both myself and partner have heart issues, she is also confined to wheelchair so carer has to be available in emergency. It also means that most home tasks are mine. home for me is a 70 mile round trip to Fir Park yet at the beginning of the season I look forward to going to the football and keen to go the League Cup games. Elgin, Annan, Dumfries. Montrose just a few examples. Grounds I have never been to must be the attraction. I can drive but refrain from driving 100+ miles twice on the same day so I stay overnight or week end. i have supported Well for 75 of my 86 years and during that time I have seen some great football, ie Ancell Babes (still didn't win anything). What switches me off is the mostly crap football on show under GA and SK. Partick and RC displays have already questioned my enthusiasm for the Hearts game. Rant over

  2. Eh naw, I can think of 6 Well fans a couple of who are season ticket holders.

  3. I agree this time with you steelboy. Nicholson actually said himself on one of the after match videos last season when asked if he could replicate his super goal he said words along lines of Well maybe if I still had 2 working knees ankles and hips. I was shocked at the time.

  4. How can you blame SK for Nicholson getting injured ffs, you don't sign a player by using "he's been injured before so it might happen again" as a reason. He obviously passed a medical etc so how is it a mistake, every footballer in the world has been injured at some point in their careers. Sk can be blamed for a few things but trying to pin this on him is just nonsense.

  5. Just to echo others on here, I’m really impressed with the level of experience in the candidates on the list, it’s a difficult task to narrow it down to 4. It’s my time to seek re-election so I’ve popped a wee thread on Twitter to detail some of the work I’ve carried out and the reasons why I’m standing again, but ultimately I need to fulfil my commitment to delivering the vision set out in our plan. https://x.com/derekwatson89/status/1820199100123611382?s=46&t=fyBP-j4_gznJVEo6hqYM1g Alongside Jay, Phil, Sean, Amber and Markus I’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to get us to a better position. I feel we’re very much on the right track but I want to see that work through to completion. With the right people in place on the Society board and on the Exec board I’m confident we can deliver positive outcomes at Fir Park. As always, DM’s are open if anyone has any questions at all. Happy to answer. Regardless of the outcome I believe we’ll be in safe hands going forward. That said, I believe that some continuity would be beneficial and I feel that I’ve got unfinished business in regards to our strategy delivery and on some of the other initiatives that we’ve started moving with Brian Caldwell and Dawn at MFC Trust. If re-elected, I will continue to make progress on delivering on our strategy and I will ensure that supporters are at the forefront of decision making.

  6. Stephen Cameron requested that I repost this here for him. It's a post he made on P&B: 'Eye Tourettes' seems to be a thing. Apologies if if made anyone question if I need an intervention. Note to Self: Don't set a timer in the top right of your computer monitor. It's always a tough call to go to the safety of a script to get the whole message across or appear more comfortable speaking from the heart. I'll throw my hat in the ring on here now too. I also checked Google Maps and it appears I can offer attendance and assistance beyond Zoom calls (see above why this may be beneficial). The main thing is the majority of candidates seeking election are capable, bring a good mix of talent, local and can demonstrate they acted to protect the club. My main driver for applying is to ensure any roadblocks, slow walking or kicking the can down the road of true fan ownership do not resurface. Also happy to endorse Derek for re-election. Martin and Gavin will also get my other votes for the all the work done, with many others, in contributing to Our Club, Our Future. Still available on the WS website (Well Society Website - Our Club, Our Future). I was privileged to be asked to draft the Governance page (p17). Please find the link to the presentation I cite in the text and video. Happy to engage with anyone and advocate for anything including the sizeable Asian cuisine lobby .... I will be your champion. 7. Aye - easily north of £100 for an adult and two kids to go to Hampden for the game and get a half time snack in the game is hard to swallow. I’ve never managed to get my daughter into the Well but I sympathise with all those that do.

  8. Looked more like a 10 to me but I could be wrong. Regardless, I hope SK can use his man management skills to get a tune out of him wherever he plays......

  9. Proper Dick Turpin pricing that. Really poor show - nowt but greed (and basically getting us to cover the costs of renting Hampden no doubt).

  10. Calm yourself doon .Just repeating what he said. And stop insinuating what I'm saying as your perception is a wee bit different to mine. If a player says what he said if your not shocked with it then I know what's a load of shite . Eloquently put.

  11. So Nicholson is a chancer now , a self proclaimed gone wrong, who no doubt conned the doctors, physios, coaching staff etc to gain a contract. And you were shocked at the time, aye OK then ffs what a load of shite 🤦‍♂️

  13. St Johnstone v Aberdeen is sold out tonight for a game live on TV. I accept its Geoff Browns hand over game but that's and outstanding achievement for a league game.

  14. Excellent candidates and I'm having dififculty whittling them down to 4. I'm trying to select a wide range of candidate views and backgrounds as thats what the Society needs. We don't want an echo chamber. I hope unsuccessful candidates will be contacted to enlist their help too.

  15. There are some excellent, some not so excellent, and some absolute no chance candidates up for election. The outcome being I am struggling to narrow my choices down to four.

  16. Reaching out to most, if not all. And whilst this will add some to the board, I believe there’s plans to co-opt after the election when skill gaps are identified.

  17. He did. No doubting his enthusiasm and I dare say he could bring something to the party with his US Broadcasting connections. However, given the current climate and pool of talent available, I think I will be sticking with local Motherwell fans to take fan ownership forward.

  18. Two very different areas and in its strictest sense we're comparing apples and oranges. In the main, Paisley is a single large town, whereas Motherwell isn't. Its a large combined urban area comprising several towns and villages a bit like Levenmouth or Stoke. Add in the likes of Wishaw, Netherton, Craigneuk, Newmains, Cambusnethan, Carfin, Newarthill, and New Stevenston and the picture changes somewhat.

  20. Life happens, I get that. People have genuine reasons why they can’t get to games regularly or atall. But there are fans out there who could be at Fir Park but instead opt for the pub/the golf/the bowls etc. That’s their choice obviously, but the it’s just a pity that we have a lot of fans who don’t prioritise going to support the team and the club. Correct, both Dundee sides look significantly better than us. Both have better forward options and both have players who can create opportunities for those forward players. And both have better managers than we have. It’s going to be a long, tough and uncomfortable season.

  21. Aye, given Nicholson seems to be out for a longer time, we absolutely need some creativity in there. It was good to see Callachan and Sparrow on the bench at least. You'd have to expect that come September about 50% of those starting yesterday won't be in the regular XI; Wilson, Casey, Blaney, Halliday and one of Moses and Robinson. I do agree with others that Davor playing in a midfield with a back three doesn't make a lot of sense; his role in there is somewhat nullified by having the three CBs. It worked for the most part last season, but I'd argue that's because the two playing in front of him were more dynamic/able to take the ball from him and drive forward, which we simply don't have right now. Playing Miller as a 10 also isn't working; he's our most creative midfielder of those fit (obviously) but he's far, far more effective playing as a deep lying playmaker in a three, with a ball winner and a 10 in front of him.

  22. They claimed 5800 for the 0-0 game last December. There's no way the crowd was that big. That's 73% full which looking at this video it obviously isn't. The dodgy charity gets money from the Scottish Government which they then use to buy St Mirren that don't get used. That's how the Scottish economy works these days.

  23. The fanbase isn't increasing. There have been times when we had excellent players, good form, good results and the home crowds never really change. We have limited appeal and that's what we have to work with. As a fan, I want to be entertained but let's be realistic everyone is happier with one point than none.

  24. I completely agree with you. And thankfully the club won't listen to people on here or elsewhere on social media calling for his head. I personally think some fans are high on the smell of their own farts and think because they offer PhD level critical analysis on Motherwell fc on forums and twitter on a regular basis they seem to think they are qualified to suggest when Kettlewell should go - like every week since he was appointed They actually think their posts are going to see the manager off (I don't think so). I don't think for one nano second that any manager should walk because of social media noise I don't think Kettlewell is a poor manager - I think he's got a section of fans where no matter what he does - it will never be good enough.

  25. Alexander had us Top 6 and it wasn't good enough. Might be a while until we finish that high again. It's just what supporters do now. They have the power through social media so they are going to bash the big red button. However it's almost always a case of destruction rather than construction. Don't always agree with his choices but if we finish above our position last term Kettlewell will have done OK in my view.

  26. I have been off for a while but it's the same old ones wanting change, they'll be the same with the next boss and the next one ad nauseum ...1st half was poor today but 2nd better , we should have won it by 3 goals...that's my take , by all means disagree but show some balance , defence is better , not so sure we are as good up top yet .

  27. It's horrendous. The usual slaters just don't know how to support the club. We could replace kettlewell with ancelotti and he'd get the same dogs abuse for his setup and selections. It's chronic negativity. Don't expect any suggestion of who we should replace the manager with or what players we should sign because you will be simply ghosted. We weren't even that bad today. Created numerous chances although we didn't take them. Clean sheet with the defence and goalkeeper looking solid and largely untroubled all afternoon. We've just kicked off the season ffs. Fine margins and we've won today by 2 or 3.

  28. Very much so. With SK's preferred system you need one big physical striker up front (plus others of course) and we haven't signed one. We knew months ago that Bair might move on. Despite knowing months ago that Spittal was leaving we haven't replaced him.
