  1. I bought his books too which annoyed me slightly as I was putting more money in his pockets. I did however find them interesting. Boyle as discussed was obviously the main culprit but Nevin tried to deflect absolutely everything on him which I disagreed with. He was responsible for some of the mercenaries we employed and also responsible for their pay. An example being Tony Thomas the crock from Tranmere who played a few games for us and got £4K a week over a 3yr period. i think Nevin is a smart guy and can pull the wool over many peoples eyes as folk think he’s honest. I don’t. Even his best mate McLair has made a few comments about Nevin spinning the truth. I thought Mclair was quite funny actually when he was talking about this and how Nevin went on and on about attending university when he was actually at a college. anyway, it’s just my view, don’t trust the bloke, never forgave him for him taking a Chanel 5 job to commentate on an English game the same night we played Chievo to help with funds following our administration. Not something I’d have expected from our CEO as he still was at that time. Charlatan.

  2. I was poking fun at the usual suspects who overlook the current success of the team in favour of the only thing they can moan about. Possession. Jesus Christ man. This place is hard work at times.

  3. I take your point about remembering more from games than the result, I'm the same but it's Goals like Jutkewitz in the 6-6 game, Colin O'Neil with the 3rd in the 91 semi, Steven Craigan opening the gate for his throw in, great or terrible tackles, etc. My point is these are all that fans remember, can you tell me how much possession we had in the 6-6 game, or the various finals and euro game we've been in, no neither can I. As I said the stats that matter are Goals scored, points won, final league positions, and the number of trophies won at the end of the season. All the shite we get nowadays expected Goals ratio, corners, possession, etc etc is just meaningless drivel.

  4. I don't go along with that at all. Yes, some people have an obsession with the figures and numbers, granted. However other common criticisms hold more weight. Not closing the opposition down; defending too deeply; and not supporting the striker(s). Santheman touches on this with his comment about where we give up possession. When we're defending I'm more than happy to give up possession 40 yards or more from goal. Within that 40 yards definitely not.

  5. I got the jist of it OK, but as I said earlier irrelevant statistics that nobody remembers, but if if discussing it in depth maintains your illusion of superiority feel free.

  6. I'm more interested in the areas where we give possession up to other teams. Possession in their own half or midfield don't bother me at all however if it was continually in our own penalty box then that's a different matter. Sure someone could come up with the area possession stats which I would guess would mostly be in the oppositions own half and midfield and the number of shots on goal against us which I would guess will be below the league average. What we're doing is certainly effective even although it's maybe not pretty on the eye at times. If it comes to a choice between watching free flowing football and getting beat and ending up battling relegation or shitfesting our way to wins and league safety and a chance at Europe I know what I would pick. Of course a combination of both would be brilliant but we're not Man City or Barcelona and you play to the strengths of your available players. Maybe when we have all our injured players back at full fitness we can look at things differently but on the whole I'm pretty satisfied at where we are just now.

  7. The issue is that Watt is likely to stay in this form as long as he only gets the occasional 15-20 minutes here and there, especially given he didn’t have much of a pre-season or any real match time before joining us. If we want to see the Tony Watt we had a few years ago, we need to play him regularly and allow him to find his rhythm and get match fit. What’s clear is that there’s a player in there. It all comes down to whether we’re prepared to give him the game time to rediscover that form.

  8. Don't forget to include the inevitable "left back switches to right back across the defence" initiated round of applause from our fans.

  9. I'd strongly disagree with this. I went to a similar event here on Guernsey, listened to an hour of anecdotes and had a good chat with him afterwards as the token Motherwell supporter. I also bought his book, which he very kindly signed for me. Having read it, I really can't find any fault in him. The blame seems to lie with Boyle himself as a well-intentioned but fairly clueless owner and his holding company Hamilton.

  10. I'm coming at this with a fresh pair of eyes as I wasn't at the game and never witnessed the South Stand crowd. Is it as clear cut as that? Is there not a 3rd possibility of the actual entrance figures being incorrect without a club employee knowing?

  11. That bloody idiot Kettlewell can't even organise the weather for a big game. It's not as if he didn't know this game was coming up. It's stupid mistakes like this that prove he's not going to have long left in this job. Ooot his depth !
