  1. That referee hasn't just made a mistake...he's proven that belief from some quarters, that referees are arrogant, belligerent and unapproachable...how often do we hear players and managers say that a referee wouldnt talk to them or wouldn't explain a decision either during a game or after it? This referee in particular, instead of realising his clear mistake that was recognised by everyone who had the ability to rewatch it, doubled down on his decision in a show of 'I'm right and everyone else is wrong', his hand gestures to casey and his stomping around the field of play displayed a real arrogance. I genuinely believe we wouldn't lose much if he was never allowed to referee at our level again. People pay good money to watch football, not a display such as this by a trumped up wee fanny, that's managed to pass a few courses to get him fired into the limelight.

  3. How is that foul on Miller by Bernardo any different from the one by Watt? One gets a yellow, the other doesn't.

  5. I predict SK is abducted by aliens. Stevie Frail steps in and goes gung ho playing a 3-2-5 formation and we win 5-2. It is the way.

  6. Hold on a minute . Can i remind you the manager is Mr Kettlewell . That’s just never going to happen. I wish it would tho.

  7. And a midfield not set upto play 3 feet in front of the defence. Sadly we don't have those kind of midfielders, weakest part of the team. We have shown that winning the second ball in the midfield is not our strong point. I'll be amazed if Rangers don't pump us. Delighted but amazed.

  8. Correct, I'm not saying we should be beating Celtic today but we should be giving them a harder game. Not single shot on goal is a disgrace. Our game is have the midfield sit right on top of our defence so when we get the ball only option is boot itong, it comes straight back on us, rinse and repeat for 90 mins. We have no guile about hitting on the counter and the shape we employ gives us no chance of it. Two shots in 90 mins neither on target is frankly disgraceful. Christ a piss poor Hibs team had 14 efforts 9 on target against Celtic at Parkhead.

  9. I really don't get this argument. We set out with no intention to win today. We had no options to stop us from being pinned in. We played like that to stop us getting pumped??? St Mirren have just scored a 93 minute winner cos they had options on the counter. We have fuck all like that the wY we set up and Rangers will horse us and they are shite because we "want to keep it tight"

  10. There's quite gulf between wanting to move some on and achieving it. I don't see people queuing up to take some of our players. I'm not sure how many are out of contract in the summer mind you and frankly we are not enhancing Lennon Miller's reputation the way we play. We are dragging him down a level.

  11. That's what irritates me most. I don't expect to beat them but I expect to make it hard for them, we are generally devoid of the basics in these games and today was just another where we cant pass with any accuracy and have no out, so we resort to our favourite tactic of hoofing it. So it comes straight back on us. It's actually pathetic even accounting for the gulf in budgets. Look how Dundee Utd handled them compared to how we did it. Our defence is poor and our midfield is weak. Our squad is so large I don't see any incoming changes in January. I still don't see us in the top 6 come seasons end bit will be happy to be wrong.

  14. We needed to be squeaky clean today to avoid conceding a penalty. When the old firm are struggling they always get the decisions others don't. Nothing has changed with the introduction of var. Whether Ox touched him or not, was he offside?, the tumble or should I say dive was not consistent. No wonder players heads drop, when they know all their effort counts for nothing. Scottish authorities are continuing to run our game into the ground, just so two clubs are kept sweet.

  17. I’ve rang the praises of big Ox this season but that was another error from him for that penalty. That’s been a few now over the past weeks which is really disappointing. He was really static waiting for that ball to go to him and he seemed unaware the Celtic player was getting there ahead of him. Really poor.

  20. I said at the game as he walked over to the screen and we were all booing him and telling him what a dick he was that the arrogant shit wasn’t going to over turn it out of spite - that attitude is why he should be banned from refereeing.

  21. I think God is a pretty poor manager. Leaves his team to do as they please and then wonders whats gone wrong when they fuck it up. Personally, I wouldnt give him another transfer window!

  22. The 1976 Scottish Cup Semi Final takes some beating. Kipre's red card in the 2017 League Cup Final is up there. But the worst refereeing decision Ive ever seen is the free kick against Alan Hutton in the Scotland v Italy game at Hampden in Nov 2007. If only Faddys hammys woulda stretched far enough it might not have been an issue!

  25. I can’t dispute that we were cautious at points on Friday (as were Kilmarnock, by the way). However, I’d argue that it’s not as straightforward as a deliberate, one-dimensional plan to sit back after scoring. Momentum is a massive factor in football. When a team concedes, it’s natural for them to respond with urgency—pressing higher and taking more risks. This often pushes the leading team deeper. Players react instinctively to pressure. When the opposition throws everything forward, the priority often shifts to holding shape and defending—more out of necessity than by design. There’s also the psychological and tactical side to consider. Protecting a narrow lead can lead to a subconscious shift towards caution. Players might hesitate to make risky forward passes or push too far forward, not because they’re instructed to but as a natural response to the situation. This is especially true if confidence in the defence isn’t at its peak. Context is also key. Playing with ten men for any length of time inevitably changes the dynamic. Even when we had eleven men on the park, there’s a recovery period—both physically and mentally—where players need to readjust after a period of sustained pressure. The caution you mention may well have been a mix of regaining composure and ensuring we didn’t concede a soft equaliser. I’m not saying we couldn’t have been more proactive or that the tactics were flawless, that's never the case, but I think these situations are rarely as straightforward as they seem. What looks like sitting back might be the result of Kilmarnock’s pressure, the game’s momentum, and the very human instinct to protect what we had. You’ve raised some fair points regarding the flow of the match and the timing of substitutions, but I think there’s a bit more to consider when assessing Kettlewell's decisions. Firstly, while the momentum did shift in the second half, making an early substitution isn’t always the answer. The manager has to take multiple factors into account. Which players to take off, how a substitution might alter the team’s shape, and whether the change will genuinely address the tactical problem. Bringing Maswanhise on later in the game clearly paid off, but there’s no certainty that the same impact would have been achieved earlier. Substitutions are rarely a magic fix, and their timing involves balancing immediate needs with the broader game plan. Secondly, sitting deeper isn’t always a deliberate tactic but often a response to the opposition’s increased pressure, as I mentioned above. If Kettlewell instructed the team to push higher or play out more (which he was, by the way. He could be seen and heard from the main stand urging players to push out), and they struggled under that pressure, it’s less about managerial hesitation and more about the natural ebb and flow of the game. Momentum shifts aren’t always within a manager’s control, especially when the opposition steps up their intensity. It’s also worth considering how finely balanced the match was. With a narrow lead, making changes too early carries risks, as they might leave the team more exposed. While an earlier substitution could have disrupted Killie’s rhythm, it also might have left us vulnerable, particularly as we went down to 10 men later on. Finally, I think Kettlewell has demonstrated his ability to make impactful in-game adjustments, as shown by Maswanhise’s introduction. It’s easy to look back and argue a substitution should have come sooner, but in the moment, the manager's job is to assess the bigger picture: how the team is coping, the risks involved, and whether the players on the pitch can resolve the situation themselves. That’s not hesitation—it’s a measured, calculated approach in my view. We’re in a strong position in the league, and while the manager's decisions may not always be perfect, they’ve played a significant role in getting us there. Momentum shifts and spells of sitting deep are part of the game, and they happen to every team in almost every match. I do think it's easy for us to sit here online and talk about what should have been done after the game is over, but maybe not quite as easy to do when you're the man in charge mid-game and the result is still there for the taking.
