I think the majority of the 2000 or so Motherwell fans who were there today would support Casey if he did actually have a go at Kettlewell. in doing so they would not be excusing Casey's own abysmal performance but holding a Manager to account for what has now been dished up in four consecutive away performances. And at other times earlier in the season. As to the future if Kettlewell does leave, any new Manager will also be called out if fans are expected to suffer what we have seen in those four matches and others....... having had two years to build his own squad.. And why shouldn't he be? Like you, like many on here and in the stands I was supportive of Kettlewell when others were not so keen. As you have said, he earned leeway. Injuries, VAR decisions, the youthfulness of some players and our league position have been touted in his defence. Valid to a degree. But enough is enough. Tynecastle was bad. Rugby Park was worse. Easter Road even worse. And then today. And by the way, every team has to deal with injuries and sometimes those injuries can appear overwhelming. That's why teams have a squad and why Boards support Managers in bringing in players as cover. Nobody can deny that SK has been supported in that manner. Again that maybe brings the focus onto the nature of players recruited. I keep hoping he will try something different in an effort to pick us up. Agreed, he does change the line up from time to time but nothing changes tactically or approach wise. If the squad is incapable of changing formation then that is down to the Management team that constructed the squad. Today straight from kick off we handed the initiative to a team adrift at the bottom of the league. A team you would think more fragile than us. I had hoped he would do things differently for once. Something that would encourage me to support him a bit longer. More fool me. Does anybody really think it will be any different next week?6 points

Casey was horrendous today and was rightly hooked. Casey is an old fashioned Centre Back and nothing more. Asking him to play on the right of a back three with responsibility for covering wide right and with no support from a right wing back who appears to have decided defensive duties are not for him is madness. And that is down to Kettlewell. Same applies to the left side. Every opponent we play targets those wide areas for good reason. If Casey was having a go at Kettlewell for repeatedly sending out a formation that exposes him and others, and fails week after week, then good for him.5 points

The glaring issue is Kettlewell. Why anyone would want to give him yet another transfer window is beyond me. We’re being completely outplayed by the team at the bottom of the league, yet it’s somehow totally unsurprising.3 points

Away to RC shite, Away to Dundee shite, Away to St Mirren shite, Away to Celtic shite, Away to Hearts shite, Away to Killie shite, Away tom Hibs shite, Away to St J shite.. at home to Hibs fuckin abysmal.. we've been utter garbage a lot longer than 3 or 4 games.2 points

That’s all we strive to do now. And while yes, that is and should be our number one priority, our Cup record and the amount of exits to absolute dross is nothing short of shameful. It’s all well and good saying “ah but we can focus on the league form now” but the Cups, especially the Scottish Cup is something that can provide some hope, some enthusiasm for the support. Not for Motherwell though. Another year, another rotten draw, yet still a big travelling support and yet again another let down.2 points

He said that the goalkeeper had barely a save to make in the last two games. Not sure that's him throwing the keeper under the bus.1 point

This is a huge part of the problem that we have. Lack of worthwhile possession puts the back line under constant pressure. This leads to the guys at the back making mistakes. Keep the ball better and play as much of the game as possible on your own terms in the opposition half and the defence will make fewer mistakes.1 point

I don't think we are going to be in the play off position. Someone said earlier that we only need another 6 points for safety. It is tough but it's the same as last year. When you are on a downwards trajectory you can't catch a break - I'm sure we will pull ourselves out of it. I'm on the wine too1 point

Absolutely horrible display again today. Injuries are no excuse - the players on the park should at the very least be giving their best effort and they certainly don't look like they are just now. Seen a few of the 1st team recently saying that it's "the best changing room" they've ever been in and things to that effect. Aye very good, having some great craic every day lads, nice one. How about trying to look like professional footballers who actually give a f*ck for the fans who pay to watch that utter pish.1 point

Where to begin. Start with the positives: great to see a big travelling support and commendable that they generally stuck with the team until the final whistle when they ( rightly) showed their displeasure at the performance. Sam Nicholson and Callum Slattery looked like football players and hopefully they will have more to offer as their fitness improves. The big negative for me is the way we start games. It is so passive. Today was a Scottish Cup game with a big away support and the team were once again really flat. This needs addressing because it sets the tone of the game and it is happening too often. Regarding Kettlewell past, present and future. He has proved to be the right man for us to this point. Keeping us in the division twice, a League Cup Semi Final and a top 6 berth in the league are proof of this even if there has been disagreement on the style of football on the way through. 9 injuries today are significant. A squad with limited resource cannot absorb that kind of set back without it affecting performance. It does not make the performance today acceptable but neither can it be ignored. The big misconception about the future is that there is a magic bullet somewhere out there that is going to fix things. There is not a single football team out with Celtic that plays good football in Scotland. Teams may show flashes of decent play but generally the league serves up mediocre semi professional tripe every week that passes as entertainment because of the emotional connection we have with our team. St Johnstone were rotten today, just slightly less rotten than us. Let's not kid ourselves that Valakari has them playing free flowing football. Teams up and down the country packed with journeyman pros will be serving up similar eye bleeding fare and passing it off as entertainment. Some supporters will accept it because they win this week, others will moan about how terrible their team is until all is forgotten when they win next time out. I have watched Motherwell in Cup games for 45 years and what I witnessed today, I have witnessed before, often against lower league opposition. Morton, Ayr United,Albion Rovers,Raith Rovers, Mypa, Stjarnaan to name but a very few. Different manager's, same outcome. If I am stupid enough to keep paying my money in the future ( as I will be)I will see it again no matter who the manager is in the coming years. There is nothing ( other than the vagueries of very short memories) to make a valid case for sacking SK as a result of today result or results so far this season. I am still gutted tonight right enough.1 point

The tipping point has been reached. It’s only a matter of time now.1 point

Good. Kettlewell is asking them to flog the same dead horse every week, which will only reduce the players’ stock and rightly make them angry.1 point

Think your trying too hard here mjc. Other than 91 the nancy 2 days was up there and possibly next best experience in my 40 years or so supporting us. We also had 9/10k v odense at home 9k v olympiakos 6 and7k v other teams. Yes the results disappointed as usual but it was great times. Europe is great and semi finals and finals are also great. So my thoughts are enjoy them all.1 point

Well all ask you this have you played a lot of football in your life ? have you been in a changing room before a game with a manager dishing out all his instructions ? or do you base all write on what you read ? just simple questions, that if you answer no to the first 2 then, carry on talking your talk but just block me cause a dont really want to keep trying to justify to you what i write1 point

Correct , Caseys a fuckin bombscare and was utter pish today.1 point

Semi Finals and Finals are what it is all about supporting a so called diddy team , if not that then beating one half of the Glasgow teams is second best I watched highlights of the 1991 tennents sixes on youtube recently and better watch than some of our Euro experiences1 point

Sounds like st Johnstone fairly comfortable dealing with long balls. Big changes needed for next week.1 point

Anyone who claims that us qualifying for Europe is better than us getting to the latter stages of the Cups is either lying or is more interested in the Tartan Army style jaunt abroad and swally session than the club and football itself. You look at the League Cup Semi Final and the excitement ahead of that and the crowd we took there and you could see what it meant to the support and the club. Nobody is telling me that ‘Europe’ is better than that.1 point

Too many players simply not good enough...odonnel, kaleta , davor, moses, balmer, wilson all bang average if that. Only Nicholson and Slattery today looked like footballers...probably done well to avoid relegation but give it time. Still we are a fan owned Club with gates of 4000...sleepwalking to relegation.1 point

Absolutely gutted , but not surprised at all The 34 year wait now becomes another year , anyone who thinks finishing in a European position is better than getting to Hampden each to their own , but don’t say it right now1 point

I've been very much on the fence with Kettlewell and been happy to give him leeway because of our exceptional injury situation but im afraid he's got 45 minutes to stop me falling off it into the out camp. There's definite Sligo vibes in the stands just now.1 point

Never made the trip. Recent games and tactics put me off. Usually go to cup matches. Was hoping for improvement but from what I hear it's more of the same negative hoofball even against bottom side in league. Changes needed.1 point

Game of not alot, other than them taking a half chance at a corner. Midfield again is our downfall. Any joy we have had have come from long balls into the wing back area and winning second ball.1 point

Kettlewell got backed by the board after that horrible run last season, he has had 2 transfer windows since yet we are worse, we won't stay 5th for much longer. The injuries obviously weaken us and for that he has some sympathy but our away form is a joke and he obviously isn't motivating the players now as no fight. Players also need to have a look at themselves1 point

Good job we have a manager who has a plan b and knows when to change it when things aren't going well .....oh......wait a minute....we dont But Hey!! He signed Theo Bair remember as he reminds us constantly. But also remember we are missing full spine of team which doesn't help1 point

Just like Morton last season. Just like St.Mirren in last seasons league cup. Just like Raith Rovers away in 2023. And so on. One thing Motherwell are almost always guaranteed to do is let down a big travelling support.1 point

I think you are confusing the entire Motherwell Support for this place. If we win tomorrow Im pretty sure the entire 1700 Motherwell fans or whatever the number is will go mental and appreciate the players for keeping a dream alive.1 point

Sorry to say this happens every away Scottish Cup tie every year . Great away support , great chance of going through total disappointment, with a inept gutless performance. Letting a large travelling support down. Hope it's better this time and we remember it's a cup tie and play it like one for a change. Cmon ye Well.1 point

It's just a shame that Charles "not that kind of player" Dunne reduced the number of games we got to see him play.1 point
