I'm with you mate, been disillusioned for a long while on and off the pitch, but backed the WS and increased my subs after Barmack as I thought it might be the start of a new dawn. I am so angry at the way the club (and WS) has handled this and lost control, throwing us all under the bus, and generating huge negative publicity for the club, and the only reason the correct narrative is getting out there now is from non club channels like Graeme McGarry in the Herald, Tam Cowan, and some sensible fan interviews. But damage has been done. The Well Society have been virtually silent. Their comms was great during Barmack, and in general since, but apart from one vague statement there has been nothing. Now perhaps they decided against adding fuel to the fire, but a simple appreciation of SK, a condemnation of abuse but speaking up for the majority of a fan base that supported the manager last season during a 15 games winless run (hi Aberdeen) might have redressed the balance.7 points

I think most if not everyone knows that there is no way the media, especially BBC Scotland would allow Aberdeen fans to be tarred with the same brush based on the actions of a few individuals and a manager using that as a convenient excuse to quit to save his reputation like as what has happened with us. The narrative has been set and this is going to run for a bit yet. People are gullible sheep who generally believe what they’re told if they’re told it enough times so the media know they can get traction with this and will keep pushing it until something else comes up. I’m pretty disgusted with the club and some of the subservient pish they’ve come out with over the last week to be honest.7 points

We are also terrible at the first basic rule of defense, close down the player with the ball!! Either that or we have decided that we start defending at the 18 yard line instead out around 30 yards. Similar issue with wide players where we give them too much space to fire balls into the box. we just look very disorganized defensively and don’t seem to go up and down the park as a team.3 points

Would have been really happy with a 2-1 loss as strange as that sounds, But Mr 20 million pounds had to score in the last minute and then cry about it lol. Wild to think we dont have a single player worth more than 500k besides miller and play in the same league as teams like Celtic, It does make Brenda's whining about player value in europe however all the more hilarious. Today went alot better than i thought it would, With a decent manager i feel we could still finish in the top half.2 points

I’m afraid to say the latest soap opera being played out at FP has left me feeling quite indifferent towards the club I’ve supported all my life. I feel as though I’m watching a re-run of something that has been acted out far too many times in the past 10 years. Since Stuart McCall left in 2014 we are now looking to appoint our 7th manager. That’s pretty close to a new manager every 1.5 years and too many of these have been shown to be wrong and in very quick time. For me this smacks of amateur hour by those “running” the club and recent events have given me no reason to believe they are competent enough to get it right this time around.2 points

Our workrate and effort out of possession is commendable. We kept our shape for the most part and the score wasnt humiliating. However, we have absolutely no quality and composure on the ball and provide virtually zero threat going forward. You cant provide any threat to the opposition with 18% of the ball and I refuse to believe the players arent capable of more as they have proved otherwise albeit sporadically already this season. I like Stevie Frail and he has spoken well this week. I also accept that ripping up the way we play against the best team in the league may have not been the smartest thing to do going into this game. But the result we got was so depressingly predictable and if he wont change things going forward he has no chance of being considered for the current vacancy.1 point

I expected to get a drubbing today so considering the start we made we did reasonably well to stay in the match. I mean Celtic were in 2nd gear, had 2 goals disallowed and hit the post, so on another day it could have been a drubbing but we hung in there. New players looked decent and I thought we looked threatening in the first half with Maswanhise and Armstrong up front but second half we've not really created anything at all. It's a game we just needed to get out the way and now it is. Hopefully have a new manager in place by the time the Ross County match comes round and we start again.1 point

Attention seeking nonsense and totally fake. But as we’ve seen this week with Kettlewell’s faux outrage people will believe what they see and are told.1 point

Really what we seeing. Today doesn't mean much In the grand scheme of things. We will have a new manager next time we line up who's gonna have his way of playing and his system. Thought we were minimally better than we have been in recent weeks(not a high bar granted) it's just are we gonna carry it forward to play a bit better against likes of County and Dundee clubs. Time will tell. I think after week the club has had bridges need built between club, players and fans1 point

Chasing shadows as expected and far too easy to score against. Conceding within the first minute without even touching the ball was ominous. Great to get an equaliser from Armstrong* but no surprises they cut us open with ease for the second. *Armstrong really does look like Fr Billy O’Dwyer aka the Spinmaster from Father Ted.1 point

Kaleta at fault for the two goals, had a stinker and I’m glad he’s off. Thomson doing ok, looks decent. and although big Armstrong looks like he should be making gingerbread lattes and preparing Cuban sandwiches in a west end cafe….. he’s a player. Doing really well.1 point

FFS I've now agreed with MJC three times in row, but his comment is about Motherwell FC issuing a statement saying the fans hounding out the manager, giving the media the ecuse1 point

Feeling similar: the failure of the club to defend the vast majority of decent of our support has left me wondering if they're the kind of people who should be running our club and I'm not sure either that they can make the correct decision on the next manager. The media pile-on should have been challenged from the start and their ignoring of the Thelin abuse just shows what a hypocritical bunch our football churnalists are. Ketttlewell's bacon roll and "holding court" style press conferences have certainly paid dividends.1 point

I still think we probably still need another 4 Another Cm, Cb, Bu Gk, and a winger are needed if we want to stake a claim for top 6. Callahan, Koutrombis, Ebiye, Davor all need sold/loaned out. Taveres needs sent back to his parent club as does Mair who's broke his finger and out for 6/8 weeks. We have Robinson and Mcginn out for the season so that's us down to 31 that can be available for selection anyway. Seddon, Miller, Stam all out for at least another 1-2 months Ox out for 3 months. Current crop available for selection Gk- Balcombe, Connoly Cb- Balmer, Gordon, Casey, Blaney, SOD Rwb- Kaleta, SOD, Koutrombis Lwb- Wilson. Thompson Cm- Halliday, Andrews, Paton, Sparrow, Slattery, Nicholson, Davor Fwds- Dickson, Plange, TJ, Watt, Ebiye, Armstrong, Vale (Once suspension finishes) Those 24 to pick from currently w Vale to add back in. That to me looks weak and forward heavy. Top 6 would be huge for cost off-setting as would getting into Europe. Majority being loans is also ideal as it means we can actually squad build from scratch next season and aren't stuck with players the new manager doesn't want long-term.1 point

Can definitely see a number going out. As per my post at the start of the week, we generally make signings on a one in one out basis, with most of this year's outs being injuries, of which we have 9, and 10 if the Vale rumor is true (and add the likes of Slattery and Nicholson on limited minutes due to injuries). Callachan, Watt, Tavares, Vale, Moses seem like candidates to go. Miller potentially for other reasons. Can't see mair hanging around with his broken hand either. With 9 on the bench you need 20 for a matchday squad, so we're sitting at a surplus of 3 available players. Two of whom are Moses and Koutroumbis. If we want the much mooted squad of 23, then tomorrow we'd have 2 subs and making the rest up with kids. On the strikers, we signed Stuparevic, Robinson and Stama. Two of those are injured and one isn't up to scratch and was sent out on loan (whether that changes next season, who knows). Watt is clearly done, and Moses is a chaos sub at best. Tavares is injured and Vale is suspended and maybe injured too. Before we signed armstrong we had Watt, Moses and JT available. Not giving us any options on the bench. Of the three that have come in, 2 have replaced Stama and Robinson. The third suggests someone is off. Signing Stuparevic, Koutroumbis, Callachan and Tavares all seem like legit mistakes, the first two are just how it goes, the other two are plain dumb. If we sign any more forwards by Monday (unless 2 go out), I'd say logic is out of the window, but you can't always sign the players you need in the perfect order. Hopefully a midfielder that isn't a child is one of the remaining signings. Why we don't have any young players that can step up, or why we aren't using them, is it's own discussion.1 point

Yes a good interview by Stevie Frail. Its unreasonable to expect huge changes on Sunday but a few tweaks won't go amiss.1 point

Been mulling the interview over for a wee while to give me time to clear my head. Mainly because I found myself with more questions than answers. And a few things that I struggled to make sense of. Firstly, for me, there is no doubt that Brian Caldwell was at a low ebb and was shocked by the whole turn of events. He clearly feels empathy for his employee and is supporting him as best he can. It was a difficult and disturbing watch. I also get his unease at how quickly folk were applying to fill Stuart Kettlewell's shoes. But I find it strange that given the close working relationship we are told the two had........meeting or talking nearly every day and almost certainly more so in January given our downturn in form, injury situation and the need for action in the transfer window.....that our CEO had no inkling whatsoever of the mental anguish Stuart Kettlewell and his family were going through. To a lesser extent that also applies to other Board Members. Also we are told that the abuse situation heightened during the home victory against Aberdeen. Initially I thought it must have been during the cup loss to St Johnstone. I sit directly behind the home dugout and have witnessed fans screaming at SK to sort things out. At the Aberdeen game and at others throughout this season and last. So it does happen but not to any greater a degree than Alexander, Hammell and others before them had to endure. Not excusing or justifying it but just trying to get things into perspective in my own head. Given that I and others were aware of it, I find hard to accept that those sitting in the Directors' Box a few rows behind me did not see or hear what was a fairly regular occurrence. Or did they see it and disregard it as something that happens at matches the length and breadth of the country? Either way it makes no sense. It also struck me that there appears to have been no serious attempt to persuade SK to hang on a bit longer. possibly following a Club Statement asking for calm and informing fans that such abuse would not be tolerated. If I was to take a cynical view I might think that Caldwell was in part relieved at Stuart's decision as it might have avoided him having to take action if the performance on the pitch continued to spiral downwards. I don't do Facebook or Twitter so apologies if more details of the abuse Kettlewell suffered was revealed on those platforms. But I have witnessed nothing first hand that merits the all out assault on what feels like ALL Motherwell fans by the media,. And which sadly seemed to be supported by the statements initially released by MFC and the Well Society. I am not in any way playing down the abuse that most definitely takes in football be it aimed at players, Managers, Officials or even fans. But this whole situation makes less and less sense to me the more I try to understand it. For me, there are far too many contradictions. Hopefully Stuart Kettlewell and his family are now in a much better place. Time for everybody to move on.1 point

This was a very good interview . i like how he balanced the vast majority of our fans and great and accentuated the positives . Balanced the narrative well . also that the overall approach will be similar with some tweaks to players . also faced into the possession stat and was clear it’s not deliberate tactic . overall comes across as a very decent bloke who’s put in 100%1 point

Well after hearing it all and how we've been flung under the bus this week I have stopped my well society contribution and have let them know that I'm extremely disappointed with how the club have handled it in the media and the narrative that's been spun. If I'm a part of a group od big bad buggers to you then you won't wish to have my money that I work longer hours than SK ever did and for a lot less money. I've had 1 day off in the last 14 days and I work 10-14 hours a day so the financial outlay of going to football I expect to see a team fighting the bit out and trying to play some football. I've never personally abused anyone but the way fans have been painted this past week has been saddening and I'm so disappointed on our club right now1 point

As I’ve already said the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. There probably was some nasty stuff directed towards Stuart Kettlewell. But at the same time he’s probably realised that he’s lost the dressing room and could take us no further. However the media are going to run with the angle and that his departure was solely down to ‘abuse’ and will use and play on that to create the impression that it’s all down to that and the fans who ‘forced him out’. In this day and age we live in a ‘mock outrage culture’ and people like to believe or at least pretend to believe what they are told by those who shout the loudest and who push the furthest. Social media plays a major part in this as just about everyone has access to up to date information about just about everything that goes on in sport and various other aspects of life. If personal abuse was directed at Stuart Kettlewell and his family then as I’ve already said that is shameful, but I just find all this uproar just a little bit unconvincing, to say the least.1 point

Is our best chance of the manager unifying the fanbase to get someone we all hate?1 point

I think the 'abuse' bit is a convenient scapegoat. He's realised he can't turn this round so he is going now to protect the legacy of the good things he has done, unsullied by a potential relegation battle, now leaving a club that has backed him to the hilt in the transfer market managerless with only a week to go in the window. That Daily Record piece could have been written by SK himself, all the positives, none of the negatives.1 point
