I might miss this game as it’s ANZAC day Friday long day starting at dawn for Dawn Service so up at 0400 muster with me mates after service have a gunfire breakfast an hour later getting ready for the parade then back to the club for two-up and the usual routine I have been known to be MIA for a couple of days…. Anyway COYW Lest we forget8 points

What concerns me isn't about any individual who's recruiting , more the general direction we've gotten into. Over the last decade we've transitioned from bringing in 7-8 new players and regularly brining in 16-20. There's a lot less of the younger crew coming through on a regular basis and we're going from full overhaul one season to a next. We've always had budget constraints , for me we're being really wasteful and the approach needs to change.5 points

I don't understand how he can be perceived as the best option. He conceded a ridiculous amount of goals for St Mirren , we've had the same issue. I get why he was drafted in when Ox got injured and the loanee got injured but why Ox isn't been given the gloves back is beyond me.3 points

“ two up “ sounds better you can have the breakfast grizzly 🫣🤣🤣3 points

If we want to progress and finish higher than the teams above us in the league, I think we need to stop signing players they have let go. They are letting them go for a reason. Tony Watt should be a great example of that. Similarly with Halliday albeit he has done a job this season. There will always be exceptions to the rule, but generally speaking we should be looking at getting younger more dynamic players with a bit of pace (ability) with the prospect of developing them. We have enough old experienced legs in our squad as it is. Dont think we need any more.3 points

But it’s easy to say “much ado about hee haw” once the games finished and the result is known….isn’t it?2 points

Yeah I think we are now safe. i was concerned today as I just didnt see us having the necessary fight to beat st Johnstone. I failed to take into account how sh1te st Johnstone are. i think we have enough in us to pick up 1 more point in the remaining games and I think County’s result today was a shocker for them, so I see them staying in the play off position. I’d love to see Killie in that position but due to them having another home game at that abomination of a park I think they’ll claw the points required there.2 points

You prompted me to have a look at who we signed and who from SPL clubs. From what I can see we must have signed 13 players who have hardly or haven't kicked a ball. From Scotland - Callaghan, Robinson, Watt, Tavares all from SPL clubs. Summer signings from elsewhere - Stam Koutrombis, Stupavic, Hegyi, Kaleta - almost all a complete waste of time and effort. Add to that the winter list of Ward, Plange, Mair, Dickson. Honestly would get better joy from a lucky bag.2 points

We've beaten them twice this year - but like you say 1 - 0 win will be just fine.2 points

Evening folks. Yes usual rollercoaster but hey its 3pts and we are now 7th. Would take ridiculous run of results to see us in play off place. Slattery, Johnny k , watt very good. Wilson must be honking If he can't get game ahead of Thompson. Huge rebuild in summer but let's enjoy the victory. Would have been scary If we had lost....COYW1 point

Not having a go but I would quite like to see an MJC league table like the BBC used to do with Mark Lawrenson's predictions. I'm not sure we'd hit double figures.1 point

We do seem to have a knack of making things difficult for ourselves but great 3 points in the end.1 point

Tough watch today but it was good to see Wimmer changing things up and there were a few really good individual performances too.1 point

With respect. Perhaps the issue is that you predict that we are going to get beat every week PS. Im not trying to dig you out. I get how hard it is being a Motherwell fan. But - we do win games1 point

I've been saying the same thing for weeks on other socials thats the teams below us will drop points1 point
-
Agree @mio it's looking promising for us. As poor as we are there's 5 other clubs who are equally poor or worse. It's conceivable that we'll all pick up points against each other. Very glad not to be dragged into the mire.1 point

Is your brother part of the club or something? Just wondering if there's some reason he doesn't post on here himself. (Perhaps he does, I'd be none the wiser )1 point
-
Aye think that's it cant see us being anywhere near the play offs decent performance the guys did put in a shift but for we really need to push up the pitch much quicker we are inviting trouble time and time again. Koutroumbis I am really warming to him he has never giving up and has came into the team not really done much wrong hope he just keeps it up gets his chance. Tell you one thing I would do is get right on the blower when St J go down and find out about Mackenzie Kirk a very good player in the making pretty impressed by him.1 point

And you knew that when we conceded to bring the scoreline back to 3-2 with 25 minutes to go did you? I wouldn’t say “talking shite” it’s just me making an observation that we cannot help ourselves chucking the opposition a lifeline when we are two goals ahead. Which we have done so many times over the years. Fortunately today it didn’t end with us dropping points. Anyway, enjoy your evening.1 point

Koutroumbis for me he was excellent the whole game, special mentions for Watt and Slattery.1 point

I’m not that comfortable yet although we have ruled out automatic relegation and I think a win next week would secure safety1 point

Everybody and their dug can see we need width and pace. I hope for the managers sake Plange and maswinhise are injured1 point

He’ll be gone at the end of the season regardless of what league we are in imo.1 point

He’s crap. He started against St Mirren at Fir Park in March and got completely bullied by Gogic and Iacovitti, and was hooked after 57 mins.1 point

Having read a lot of the posts over past week you would think we were already relegated. Let's create a great atmosphere and get behind the lads today. Remember...booing every mistake a player makes ain't going to help matters. Here's hoping we can get a massive 3pts......COYW1 point

Who's feeling confident today ? My gut feeling is we'll get something from the game.1 point

Aye, we have several of these types on our books, hence the tissue paper comment. We’ve amassed a bloated squad littered with crocks and duds.1 point

I think we could play 4-2-3-1 Ox Johnny K SOD Casey Seddon Miller Halliday Sparrow Slattery Maswanhise Armstrong1 point

Exactly this. If we signed half the players, we could afford to pay for a little more quality (maybe less injury prone) and supplement with youth. We seem to have lost our way in the transfer market.1 point

See Daws name mentioned regularly and I’d wager nobody knows the role or what club demands of him? He’s not known to sign players. only being part of a process. Club invest in data analytics, perhaps the use of that analysis is open for debate. Factor in budget constraints and player demands those who arrive at the club are likely way down the wish list and not recruiters first choice recommendation. A lot of merit in your closing paragraph.1 point

Appreciate this season has been plagued with injuries so I decided to have a look at who we've signed since 21/22 when Dawes first arrived. Also did a bit of a comparison to 19/20 (excluded 20/21 due to Covid) Sine 2021 we've signed 73 players. 18 new signings per season. Roughly 50% have had reasonable game time and that's without debating who's good enough etc. Looking back to 2019 we signed fewer 15, of which 10 got game time. Thought worth sharing as helps illustrate how we're operating, for a club with financial constrictions we've signed far too many players, many of which haven't seen the light of day.1 point

Completely agree Gallagher is 34 , we had him in his prime 5 years ago . Moult is now 32 and given the age of our squad he’d be a bit part player . The high press will require younger and fitter players . Wee Al fits the bill and I’m sure would be more than good enough .1 point
-
Moult as much as I loved him the first time around is very injury prone. Is he better than what we have probably but if he can't stay fit he's of no real use. The only former player from Dundee Utd I'd want back is Campbell but even at that not sure he looks the same player he was when he left us only 26 mind you so wouldn't be against it.1 point

Not a great loss but does leave us short. I would go flat back 4 with Johnny k and Thompson as full backs. 4 in midfield and 2 up top1 point

Its encouraging to see our club has been awarded just over £303,000 for the period 2020-24. Its the 4th highest payout in the Premiership and relates to compensation for the release of players for international competitions. It’s nice to see his arrogance continue to result in success. He’ll soon be filed into the same bin as Davies.1 point

Time for some positive thinking pure happy clapping, based on nothing but pure optimism, we are going to pump them on Saturday to secure another season in the premiership.1 point

And someone else said that they could play Simo at CB and we still wouldn’t be able to produce a shot on target. We need to worry about addressing our own deficiencies first and foremost.1 point
-
After their Hampden gubbing I’ve a bad feeling about this and would rather not have them first game up. Simo will have them fired-up and keen to get back on the rails. Hope I’m wrong. I’d take a boring 1-0.1 point

I just don’t understand the Halliday love? Each to their own and all that but I think in general apart from maybe a couple of games he’s been poor. his first thought when he gets a ball is to win a foul, he spends 60mins of each game on his ar5e. He rarely creates anything, rarely pushes forward and struggles to track back. as mentioned each to their own but he’s not for me and I’d be letting him go.1 point

You know why you shouldn't bother? Because when you have relative success like achieving Top 6, Europe and the later stages of cup competitions our fans throw it back in your face. I'm afraid the kind of football and the kind of success a lot of our fans want only happens once in a blue moon when year and years of work comes together and otherwise is mainly dependent on what mostly makes the world go round - money. Ever wondered why we gut the team every season and things don't seem to get much better? Cos we pay a certain level of wages and there's a level of player that you get for that expenditure. Sure some are better than others but it averages out. It's that simple. So what you call defeatist, I call a realistic outlook. I've been going to Fir Park for 43 years. I've seen maybe 5 or 6 individual teams that actually played good football and a few of them were in a completely different football environment before massive wage increases and player contract rights. The funny thing is players like Ally Maxwell, Dougie Arnott or Jamie Dolan who were developed by the club over 3 or 4 years before they hit their stride would be sent packing by fans these days who have absolutely no patience and demand instant success. And the one trophy we have won in all that time would never have happened if the fans had had their way.1 point

There's been a couple of times in the last 5 or 6 years when were were in deep shit. The post police charge collapse under Robinson and the whole Hammell era which only came into being because another manager was forced out the club. Motherwell fans need to get a grip. In the natural order we are a Bottom 6 club every season and the only time we aren't are when we over achieve and others underachieve. 'That prat' had this team Top 6 all season, achieved a semi final, saved us from relegation once and had us comfortable last season. Sure it's a little bit nervy going into the last stage of the season but the only non city team that's better than us this term is St Mirren and then only by a small margin. Our fans need to get some perspective and stop the doom/crisis/it's never been worse/gut the club cycle.1 point
