That’s good to know for the future, but on this occasion they are going to JSR. Thanks for letting me know.

Of course, no problem. Will message you just now.

We’re moving house and I won’t have room for some of my ’Well memorabilia, so I’d rather it went to a good home. There are two signed and framed tops and two balls (the smaller one has only one autograph on it). The boots are a pair of Clarky’s, signed by him. Free to anyone who wants any or all of them.

Like many others, I didn't know him personally, only through this forum, but I always enjoyed reading his posts which without fail came across as some of the most intelligent, knowledgable, well-reasoned, fair and eloquent that I've read on any forum for any club. He also gave the impression of being a genuinely decent man. Very sad news. RIP Andy.

I’ve seen the fitness thing come up a few times since the manager said it, so just for the sake of accuracy... The allusion to a lack of fitness came after the Celtic game when Adam took cramp 60 mins after coming on. However, he had played a reserves game 48 hours earlier and had been included in a full first team training session the day before the Celtic game when the normal procedure would have been a recovery session the day after playing. The manager had forgotten this when he made his comment, but then he did have a lot on his mind in the immediate aftermath of that game. It was ironic, though, as Adam was considered one of the fittest players at the club. Much as I (and he) would be overjoyed to see him in a Motherwell strip again right now, he needs to be somewhere where he’ll get a run of games for the sake of his career.

Looks likely that McGowan is going to Kilmarnock to replace O'Donnell. I've heard Hibs are sniffing around Gogic, but that may just be fans' rumours.

You'll always have narrow-minded people who cry nepotism before they ever see a boy kick a ball. In reality, this isn't boys' club football, where the opposite is often the case - in professional football, it can work against the player. Most coaches are totally fair, but the Cadden boys always had to work harder to prove themselves to some people (and have proved their ability since, obviously, being established pros) and I know from my own boy's experience that most people either didn't know his grandfather had had a prominent connection with the club in the past or were fair minded and didn't care, but the only time it affected him is when one coach felt that he was only there because of his connection and held it against him. He survived that year thanks to the opinion of other coaches but it showed that "nepotism" tends to work against you, never for you. You can be sure that there will have been long discussions about Harry and that, because of family connection, the final decision will have been hard and will only have been based on football ability because they will have been acutely aware of the opinions he will be up against.

First team I can remember. And what a team they were! Thanks for putting this up.

Or we could pimp him out as a gigolo and film a documentary following his antics, and call it "Fuck the actual Watt".

I tend to take people as I find them and happened to meet Tom Boyd unexpectedly last week at a Former Players Club/Well Society fundraising sports night at the club. When the former players present were asked why they joined our FPs club when all had played for several clubs in their careers, he was first in to say that, in his case, Motherwell were his first senior club and the one that gave him his chance, and because of that we will always have a special place in his heart. To be fair, when talking to him he came across just as a straightforward cheerful guy who just says what he thinks without any guile. I haven't heard the comments that people get so angry about, but maybe it is that lack of guile (maybe complete naivety) that has seen him say things that it would have been more diplomatic not to say - maybe not, but that's just how he seemed on the night.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. Felt I had to apologise since Davie looks like he could batter me with both hands tied behind his back.

That’s the coaches’ top. The players’ one is grey and black.
-
They are the same age group, but I take your point on the talented bit.

He goes to Alistair every home game and is one of the leading members of the Former Players Club. Great guy.

Makes a nice change from people spelling Livingstone wrong, though!

It then goes to a tribunal and both clubs have to abide by what it decides compensation should be. That amount also has to be paid in one go and with a set time limit, not in instalments.
-
If we go down the Development Fee route, we will be paid now (hopefully!) for the years we’ve had him, so wouldn’t be due any more compensation in the future.

I think the FIFA guidelines only apply to situations where the player is signing for a club in a different association. Where he moves to a club in the same association, that association’s rules apply - so in our case the SFA’s. The amounts due for each year the player has been with a club beyond the age of 11 on the SFA’s scale are lower than those on the FIFA scale - no surprise there, eh?
-
Half of our starting outfield players were 17-year -olds who only turned full-time last summer (one of them only a couple of months ago) and haven’t even played a lot of Reserves games,. They have great ability and potential, but the fact that Hearts were more experienced at First Team level, more physically strong, more cynical and more streetwise right through their side than those five made a massive difference. Those boys will do great in time but it would be unfair to them and the rest of the team to judge them under those circumstances.

Brilliant, thank you.

Heading down to this but won't get there till close to kick-off. Any advice on the best places to park?

Incidentally, our boys on Pie n Bovril are playing a blinder in the face of the inevitable green and white assault. Superb stuff.
