  1. We did, but let's be honest, Steau didn't really have to try all that hard last night. And despite that, they still scored with every shot they had on target, bar one save Ruddy had to make right near the end. It was certainly a tenacious performance by our guys, but I have to say I don't think for a minute Steau would have let us score three or four without reply.

We have indeed, but perhaps a more important question is, do we look like a better team after the sixth game than we did after the first one? Don't think there's much doubt that we do, so provided we can keep moving in that general direction, I'm sure we'll do alright.

Or perhaps even the Falkirk game on October 3rd, as he had a pretty good three seasons for them, too. Might be just a wee bit too late by then though, I suppose.

    European Referees

I've been saying that for years every time somebody moans about Scottish referees... have never really seen much evidence that ours are any better or worse than anywhere else's, on average.
  5. Three shots on target, three goals...

  8. If you mean Jim O'Brien, then aye
  9. D'oh.. penalty to Steau. EDIT: 1-1, certainly game over now.
  10. We're certainly getting enough free kicks on the edge of the box...
  11. Looked like a good shout to me...
  12. Steau have probably had more possession, but no clear chances really.
  13. D'oh, you spoiled it by mentioning FCR Cluj. They nearly crippled half the Motherwell team in a friendly match last summer!

  15. This is the nearest I've seen...
  16. Let's also not forget that Craggs has started over 250 games for us (and come on as a sub in another 13), so if the figure of 6 OGs is about right, then that's only about one per season on average. When you're playing in central defence for a team like us that's going to be under the kosh in more games than not, it's not such a high figure really.

  18. Where's Ice Rink when you need him?
  19. Maybe they expect all those Irish Celtic fans to tune in, as they'll have half a chance of understanding the commentary..
  20. Think there's some truth in that, although much of that first 15 minutes was probably in turn due to the preparations in Austria-- we probably had one of the fittest squads in the SPL that day, and for some time into the season.

  22. Ian St.John's of course (available in club shop), and Peter Marinello's "Fallen Idle" are two that spring to mind.
  23. Also the more recent "Motherwell FC - On This Day", available from the club shop. Not exactly a book about MFC's history, but covers many parts of it nonetheless... http://www.motherwelldirect.co.uk/acatalog/BOOKS.html

    Player #4

Excellent news. As much time as I had for Mark McGhee, it's certainly refreshing to have a manager who (for the moment, at least) seems to be able just to go and get the players he needs, rather than waiting for months for his "contacts" to come up trumps.
