It's annoying, but it is what it is. Without knowing how much it costs to keep the lights on at an average League 1 or 2 club every week, it's hard to know what sort of transfer fees they need to bring in just to balance the books every year, and how that compares to us. In an ideal world a club would pay the same for the same level of player regardless of where they were buying, but at the end of the day it's a business transaction, and they'll pay the smallest amount the selling club can afford to accept.

He won one of the sponsor's MoM awards though, so I doubt he's too disappointed.

Scottish Premiership Game 4: Hearts (H) Saturday 26/08/17
numpty replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
To be honest, I've watched the BBC footage half a dozen times, including the freeze frame, and between the crappy camera angle and Andy Rose in the way, I still couldn't tell you from that alone whether the whole of the ball was over the whole of the line at the moment he headed it, even though my initial full-speed reaction was that it must've been. So while I'd have expected them to at least have another look at it on the programme, they probably wouldn't have been able to say much other than "I dunno" either, which doesn't make for a riveting discussion. Rightly or wrongly, the fact that it ultimately didn't affect the result probably bumped it down their priority list, too. -
Not entirely surprised, saw a BBC journo tweeting this morning that Astana have never lost a European game at home so it wasn't a foregone conclusion. Roundly ridiculed by Celtic fans, of course...

To be fair, if I had to engage with some of our fans on Twitter, I'd probably delete my account too... When you're getting paid to do it, though, deleting your account does suggest something fairly terminal.

Scottish Premiership Game 2: St Johnstone (A) Saturday 12/08/17

Robinson said so in his MFC TV interview after the game, though that was probably just stating his intention to do so at that point. -

Well that's a grand we won't get back. (Or however much it costs these days...)

I don't know how much messaging is done at games as I usually get to zero or one a year, but do the Society ever put up posters beside the turnstiles to advertise stuff? (Appreciate this isn't as simple as buying a pack of Blu-Tack to stick up some sheets of A3, given the exposure to the elements...)
-
So in the interests of doing better next time: where would you have expected to see something about it, but didn't?
-
I don't know either, but I'm expecting Ally Maxwell to phone us all personally and sort it out.
-
Yep, 9974 was the official figure. Always expect a few more for first home game of the season (even though it technically wasn't), but given we probably lost a few to time/day/live telly, a very healthy turnout.
-
But if you keep doing it, it will eventually become funny again. Just ask Stewart Lee...
-
Robinson said in his post-match we'd be appealing it, but based on the above I wouldn't expect it to be overturned... looked like a fairly deliberate shove from the highlights.

Possibly not directly, but if not they could likely hook it up to a laptop and use something like OBS Studio (free) or something better (not free) to stream via their service of choice.
-
It's just frustrating that when they're already filming and commentating on almost every game, they can't go the final few yards so we can see the pictures alongside the live comms... or even just the pictures. The bandwidth cost of the actual streaming is probably pretty small... in the absence of any other overheads, I'd guess they'd be more than covered if every viewer was asked to pay a couple of quid to watch every week. Or it could just be considered a Well Society perk for overseas members, since the other ones aren't usually much use to us. (Though here in Ireland, I'd lose out both ways as they're not allowed to live stream Scottish fitba' here either...) The whole rights/geolocation issue is the main problem I presume -- as far as I know, none of the 'simple' solutions (YouTube, Facebook, Periscope, uStream and whatnot) have either a way to stream to paid subscribers only, or to block viewers by IP or location. So presumably the club would need to pay for some bespoke solution, and that's what'd put the price up for viewers.

Well, no, quite literally all we actually have to go on is Flow saying he was ill.

Hmm... hate to play the wet liberal PC card, but going from a claret boy bear and an amber girl bear to a macho white bloke doesn't really seem to capture the inclusivity zeitgeist...
-
Which is fair enough, but I can't imagine that means they'll benefit much from raising their profile around the 'Shire.

"Caribbean-based gaming company" according to the 'fishel site ("Authorised and Regulated by the Government of CuraƧao" according to their own website), which makes the whole Turkish thing even more odd...

Only if there's an equal likelihood of it happening or not.

Yep, that's my recollection from stats classes 20-odd years ago..
-
Not to my recollection, but, as you say, it doesn't really matter. The next 12 I flip are still always just as likely to be all heads as any of the other 4095 outcomes...
