Probably not, but even with a massive budget you still have to buy the right players... something which certain managers at our club haven't had the best record of doing when they've had an (albeit smaller) amount of cash to splash.
-
I'm sure somebody has the stats that will prove me wrong, but is it really taking any longer than usual? Can't say it really feels like it to me.
-
Doesn't particularly surprise me... the Villa fans I know couldn't wait to be shot of him. His teams were papped out the FA Cup by lower league opposition four seasons in a row though, so he'd probably fit in well here

And she can take Paul Daniels with her.

3. We have virtually the same thread talking about virtually the same people every time we're looking for a manager.
-
Gordon Strachan it is then.
-
Possible they've already done the Skype phase. Great though modern technology is, you can't beat meeting someone face to face to figure out what sort of things they're passionate about, when they might be telling porkies, etc.
-
Seems to be, yes. Perhaps he's learnt a little humility in the meantime

No doubt Erwin went there for more money, and he might be disappointed that he's not getting any first team action. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad move for him though; at a club the size of Leeds he'll still be benefitting from better facilities (and arguably better coaching, given our current predicament) than we could offer him, and whoever he ends up being loaned out to could still be playing a higher standard of football than a bottom-half Scottish Premiership club. It's the guys like Tom Hateley who give it all the "bigger challenge" chat and then struggle to get a four month deal at Tranmere Rovers that I'm more inclined to reserve my "telt ye's" for.

Especially given that the same agents are just sticking the same 30 or 40 names forward every time a managerial vacancy comes up... it's not like any of them have any special desire to manage Motherwell.
-
Not that unusual if kids are settled in school etc. Don't think McGhee's did either, did they?
-
Not really. They don't say much after most games, what are you expecting to hear this time?
-
Yep. I've no doubt there are viewpoints on serious issues out there that many of us would sympathise with, but all political movements have the power to divide and personally I'd rather our already small support was all pulling the same direction inside Fir Park.
-
Not that it would have mattered if he had showed the necessary talent and application, but he also came across as a total ned on his social media at least, and generally far more interested in what Liverpool were up to than whatever was going on at Motherwell. If that's how he behaved in and around the club as well, I can't imagine it helped his prospects.
-
Doesn't really matter, as we all remember Shuggy Edvaldsson, and he was Icelandic too...
-
Yeah, same here. I've never worried too much about what would've happened if we'd scored that penalty, at the time it never felt like it mattered very much, and I can't say I feel any different now.

To be fair, the Society have held several meetings at which (I'm told) they've been more than happy to answer anyone's questions. The trouble is not all of us can get to those meetings, and there's still no way for us to watch live or after the fact.
-
None, but this is not an investment, and many club owners have stated over the years that you don't put money into a football club if you want to make a profit. The only potential positive return is the survival of the club.
-
If you can call what Sportscene offers "highlights", yes... I assume they still just talk over the same footage that goes up on the SPFL's YouTube channel on a Saturday night, unless things have changed this year.
-
The 'Well Society is effectively asking the question. The "What if" part has already been answered pretty clearly over the last few years--given how hard it's been to find investment in the past, the most likely answers are that the club would either be sold to the first high enough bidder regardless of their intentions, or it would go out of business.

Email update received today:

I'm sure they'd like people to pay it indefinitely-- "the main reason for the change is the need to raise regular income" -- but you can stop whenever you like without losing your membership. You unlock more benefits beyond £300, though, if you care about that sort of thing: http://motherwellfc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Well-Society-Revised-Benefits.pdf

Partly because Twitter are getting quite good at shutting down streams of sporting events that somebody else owns the right to. But mainly because they haven't implemented landscape mode streaming yet, and watching fitba' in portrait mode would be horrendous (The club actually did live stream a press conference or two on Periscope a while back.)
-
Given they have to negotiate the rights to broadcast audio or video of any SPFL games live, I suspect it probably is quite difficult, knowing the SPFL. But yes, it's disappointing, especially as the MFC TV website is still live, and still teasing us with the promise of "video streaming of selected matches in 2012/13"... albeit only for folk outside the UK & Ireland (thanks to those rights holders again), which, I'm guessing, just wasn't a big enough number of 'Well fans to be financially viable. On the other hand, can't say I really miss Mr Barnstaple screaming "c'mon referee!" in my ear every five minutes

Dunno that I could give you a number, but I'd be happy to wait until the first round of league fixtures is over and see where we are compared to everyone else. (In the old days, I'd probably have said 'after we've played everyone home and away', but with the split you can't really afford to wait that long.)
