  1. One of which was true at the time, and the other of which is still true. Still a not the most advisable thing to say when you're leaving, though... you never know when you might have to come back.
  2. No need to wonder. We wouldn't, because I'd imagine most of us feel we'd have had a better chance of beating Celtic.
  3. Can't say it was for me... we so completely failed to turn up that day that we didn't even offer enough of a performance to be upset about. I've barely given it a second thought since.
  4. Ah, this old chestnut... how many times have we discussed this on the boards now? IMHO, almost by definition, club legends only come around once every generation or so. The legends of my generation are the '91 Cup Winning team, and (at a stretch) Faddy. The generation before that had the likes of Wark, Pettigrew and Graham. Just don't think the next generation has found theirs yet... the 2011 CIS Cup winning team, perhaps...?

Good news. Always takes a good couple of months to recover from that sort of procedure, so sounds like he's pretty much on track so far.
  6. The square/hot/cold balls theory debunked
  7. Nobody in the SPL has even really looked like running Rangers close over 90 minutes so far this season, so I'd happily take Aberdeen then Celtic. Or better still, Celtic then Aberdeen

Hate to say it, but if it's really Alzheimer's he's got, I'm afraid he won't be getting better :/
  9. And indeed, Falkirk have just gone 1-0 up
  10. More chance of an 'upset' at Pittodrie I guess (not that I'd really call anyone who wins either tie tonight much of an upset), and BBC only have the rights to cover one league cup tie live in each round AFAIK.
  11. We really aren't, Scottish officials are no better or worse than any others IMHO... we just get to see the not so good ones more often, whereas we only tend to see the top officials from other countries in action. And even at that, there's never any shortage of shocking decisions in the likes of the World Cup or the Champions' League, where supposedly only the very best officials are taking part.
  12. Lasley off with a hamstring injury... Saunders on.
  13. Tsk, every time I've joined the commentary a few minutes late this season we seem to have scored beforehand... maybe I should stop listening altogether!
  14. It's true that the attendances haven't increased, but the performance of Irish clubs in Europe has fairly noticeably improved since the switch in 2003. Of course, they primarily play the games on Friday nights here, so as not to clash with the GAA games on Saturdays and Sundays. And it's always going to be a bit of a struggle to get more people to turn out on a Friday night in a country where most of the population lives in the pub on a Friday night.
  15. Ought to be worth a couple of hundred quid I'd have thought, maybe more with the right audience. Maybe our illustrious colleague Sidney D. would be able to lend a hand in publicising it?
  16. Can see us creating one or two decent chances on the break, but doubt they'll be enough to take any points even if we convert them.

He wasn't the only person who said that, to be honest... no shortage of comments on the YouTube clips and elsewhere mocking the diddiness of the defending from two of the better teams in the country at the time. (Not that I'd recommend YouTube comments as a great barometer of anything other than general bampottery.) To fans of the two teams involved, though, and probably to most SPL fans, it'll live long in the memory for (mostly) the right reasons.
  18. No doubt it would indeed piss a few off. Hopefully, though, any new stadium would become 'just a short walk up the road' for a whole bunch of new people who wouldn't regularly have gone to Fir Park, just as Fir Park probably became one for some who wouldn't regularly have gone to Roman Road (although I concede that both those venues were in the same town...)

Fairly common procedure these days and a better than decent chance of a full recovery at his age, you would hope-- good luck big man.
  20. My thoughts exactly. Nothing to see here.
  21. Bit of a leap from "some shares changing hands" to "shiny new stadium", methinks. Will just have to wait and see, though...
