My attitude is they're just another team in the same league as us. It doesnt bother me any more having a poor record against either of the OF than it does any other team. I really don't care how long it's been since we beat them, I only care about the next game.
-
Depends what we want as a club going forward. A nice wee community club that flirts with relegation every year until the inevitable happens but receives accolades from the media for all our outreach programmes. A rich businessman takes over invests in the infrastucure and playing squad to make us a solid year on year top six team. Ideally a combination of both.
-
I don't know about that. There is definitely something not right in their dressing room and that is translating onto the pitch and into their support. Up to us to take any advantage there is. Frustrate the hell out of them, get in their faces and make it a very physical game and you never know. Not saying we'll win but at least let them know they've been in a game.

Yep totally agree. The most annoying thing for me is when I watch match of the day on a Saturday night and see tackles/ pushes/ hand balls etc not given and players just told to get on with it when you know that similar things up here will always result in a penalty. Some of the bear hugs, both hands round necks and jersey pulls resemble cage fighting at times. Down to the fact that English refs allow more physical contact or are just better than ours? I'd bin it tomorrow.

The only way we'll find out is if he pitches him into the inferno. Might be brilliant might be shite but it would be nice to know one way or another.
-
Aye think he needs to be taken out of the firing line for a while, get back to basics and try to recover his confidence. The Ox might be ok but having only seen him play twice in 2 years I'm not even sure if he's any good. Kettlewell seems as if he's not convinced either.

Best post of the night.

I think we have got to accept the fact that without some form of inward investment our place in the pecking order is going to drop. Ourselves St Johnstone, Livingston abd St Mirren are all in the same boat having to try and compete against teams with more money than us either by way of larger supports or sugar daddies and that's something we're just going to have to accept. Some seasons we'll land lucky with a good managerial appointment and/or a squad that gels from the off and we punch above our weight, other seasons we will struggle along at the bottom end of the table or even get relegated. That's always been the Motherwell way and we just have to get on with the ups and downs.

Wonder what he would say if he knew that Imrie applied for the Motherwell job after Alexander left.🤔 -

Maybe we should start a Grumpy Old Men's Club. Meet before home games in Club100 and reminisce about the good old days of the 60's and 70's. -

Me too and its definitely an age thing. I went on Friday not expecting a lot and the team duly delivered. 5 years ago I would have been punching walls and been a nightmare to live with for a couple of days but now I just shrug my shoulders and try to motivate myself to go to the next game. I think its going to get worse with the likes of Dundee Killie et al getting inward investment so they will probably (although not necessarily) be able to afford better players which in theory will leave clubs like us scraping along the bottom of the table fighting relegation. Hopefully we get some investment, some new blood on the board and some kind of settled squad. -

Think we all know who they are. It'll be a typical cup tie against lower league opposition who will be hyped up to the max by wee Imrie. All down to our attitude on the night and getting out the starting blocks early. An early goal would be nice. -

Just a wee heads up to roadworks being done (from P&B) Give yourself a little extra time to get there. Scottish water have been doing work on the main road just before Cappielow and it can get backed up pretty far, especially with a larger than normal crowd expected -
Having watched County's last 2 games they actually looked not too bad on the ball and I was fully expecting a hard midfield shithouse type of game. Maybe the early goal settled us and you could see the confidence begin to rise as the half progressed. Forward instead of sideway passes, shots from distance, things we've been screaming out for. County were shite but maybe because we made them look like that? Just keep wondering how many more we might have scored if we had played 2 strikers but that's only a cherry on the cake thinking. The team will be coming into training with a wee bit extra spring in their steps which can only be good.

You could be right as I'm only going on what one of the groundsmen I speak to most home games told me. Maybe the undersoil heating has a worse effect on the hybrid pitch than normal grass, who knows as its the first time it's been used on the new pitch. We've been so used to seeing a bowling green that Saturday was a bit of a shock tbf.

Never believed that there would be any commercial benefits from it unless we were going to host concerts or Christian conventions a la St Johnstone I do believe it was the best decision to use the covid loan money to upgrade it as the annual maintenance costs will be roughly half of what it would have been had we kept the original pitch. Include the money it would have cost to fix the main drain issue which could have continued and cost even more money down the line then imo it made commercial sense. As you say, all about opinions and being able to debate and disagree.
-
Seeing as you seem to know everything that's happening within the club you'll know about the issues over the main drainage and how much it was going to cost to fix it and the ongoing maintenance costs before deciding on the current set up. You'll also know who was responsible for the extra work that was required this year to get our safety certificate.
-
Undersoil heating had to be turned on during the recent cold snap. Destroys the root system and takes time to recover. Same has happened to Celtics pitch.
-
And you know that how? Insider knowledge or guesswork.
-
Been that used to looking down the way at teams below us I forgot we're only 4 points off 6th place. Think I'm going to start looking up the way instead.
-
Think people forget just how long Butcher was out for with injury and it was always going to take some time for him to get back up to the levels of last season. A couple of shaky starts but looks to be getting there.
-
Well we're supposed to be a Community Club and as much as you might not like it, that includes women. Why stop there though; why don't we do away with the walking football team, the power chair football team and all the other Community based projects and put all the money saved there into the first team squad. We can't have it both ways.
-
We're not skint as some people are alluding to. We have been spending more than we're bringing in and don't want to dip into reserves to cover the deficit. That's not a club in trouble, it's one that's taking steps to address it by trimming costs and trying to live within its means. Does anyone really want to go back to the "Well Worth Saving" days.
