  1. If we're going to persist with punts up the park then I'd just like us to sign a big 6'4" brick shithouse of a No9. He doesn't even have to be a terribly good footballer, just able to win high balls and hold defenders off. Maybe just maybe with Nicholson and Slattery nearly ready and Paton just about there, we might have a semblance of a midfield and take the pressure off Miller (if he chooses to stick around that is).
  2. Think it comes down to personal choice. If someone wants to travel up the A9 despite the weather warnings then its their choice. I made the decision not to travel last night as I know only too well having travelled up and down it regularly for 20 years, the conditions on the A9 can be horrendous in the snow and can worsen at the drop of a hat. Kudos to those who took the chance and I hope they all make it home safely with a win under their belts.
  3. I'm more interested in the areas where we give possession up to other teams. Possession in their own half or midfield don't bother me at all however if it was continually in our own penalty box then that's a different matter. Sure someone could come up with the area possession stats which I would guess would mostly be in the oppositions own half and midfield and the number of shots on goal against us which I would guess will be below the league average. What we're doing is certainly effective even although it's maybe not pretty on the eye at times. If it comes to a choice between watching free flowing football and getting beat and ending up battling relegation or shitfesting our way to wins and league safety and a chance at Europe I know what I would pick. Of course a combination of both would be brilliant but we're not Man City or Barcelona and you play to the strengths of your available players. Maybe when we have all our injured players back at full fitness we can look at things differently but on the whole I'm pretty satisfied at where we are just now.
  4. I think we're forgetting sometimes that Lennon is only 18 but still has LOTS to learn. He's by far the best young prospect from the SPL and should be managed as an 18 year old not a 23/24 year old with loads of experience. I've always thought that Scotland should have some kind of development squad where players who are too old for the u19/21 but considered not quite ready for the full team or older players on the fringes off the full team could get game time and experience at full international level. It could provide a pathway from u21 to full team whereas just now it's a massive step up in one go.
  5. I'm more worried about how tired he looked in the u19 game. Another 2 games in 7 days which I'm assuming he will play in. Boy looks as if he needs a rest.
  6. They picked it up from some random bloke on FB claiming to be "in the know".
  7. The worst thing about it is the red poppy being hijacked by all the different factions. If people want to promote a particular cause on remembrance day then they should choose their own emblem and leave the poppy alone and respect what it stands for. Unfortunately in this day and age its my way or the highway for the more extreme elements of society who might not even have had the freedom to express their views if it wasn't for the sacrifice of all our young men and women. Sorry for the rant but it's something that truly pisses me off no end.
  8. There's ones on here who would find something to moan about if we were sitting 5 points clear at the top with 2 games to play and in the final of the Scottish You're either a glass half full or half empty, thankfully most on here are of the full variety, I just laugh at the other ones and the fun they must be at parties.
  9. Not even a mention of the penalty on Soortscene. I defy anyone to get out of the road when a ball is blasted at you from 2 yards away and you're moving towards the ball.
  10. For all the posession St Johnstone had I didn't think they even remotely looked like scoring and if they hadn't got the penalty that game would probably have finished 2 0 without the nervy ending. In saying that you can't give up that much territory and possession especially at home. Good to see Paton back at least it gives us another option. Another poor referee display with some utterly baffling decisions. Still it's 3 points.
  11. Interesting Our game plan certainly fell apart during the match but still don't get why you think we gifted them the win before a ball was kicked. Anyway as you say all in the past and Saturday is another day.
  12. Not sure I'm getting your take on that. How did we gift them the win before a ball was kicked? Not having a go just interested in your thought process.
  13. Have to agree with that but don't think anything will change in the near future. I hate to admit it but I'm finding it harder to motivate myself to go to games against certain teams knowing the kind of football that's going to be on show. I also find myself going to more local WOSL games where you at least get some entertainment, recently saw a 5 4 and a 7 2 game. Something I never thought I'd be doing not all that long ago.
  14. The thing is nobody knows what players Kettlewell tried to bring into the club at the start of the season. For all we know the players we signed could have been 2nd/3rd/4th choices. I would be more concerned if some of them were his 1st choice though as that would question his judgement or on the other hand could just as easily have reflected our budget constraints. As far as the style of play is concerned have a look through the forums of all the other teams in the SPL with the possible exception of Celtic and Aberdeen and the fans are all moaning about the same style of football and tactics we are. It's more down to the quality of the League which is getting worse with each passing season and it's now more about not wanting to lose rather than win a game. I've watched quite a few non Motherwell games this season and they've mostly been all been turgid shit with each team more interested in cancelling the other one out rather than trying to entertain the fans. If anyone knows of some attack minded free flowing football manager out there who would transform the way we play while keeping within budget and free from relegation then feel free to name him.
  15. Our failure to recruit a target man who can physically put pressure on the centre backs and hold up the ball was evident today which gave the Rangers back line one of the easiest afternoons they'll ever have.
  16. The Ox Saved us from a doing.
  17. The old failings. No-one physical enough up front to hold the ball up and let our midfield (what midfield you might ask) up in support. You can't give a team like Rangers that amount of possession and territorial advantage and expect anything. Was disappointed we didnt at least have a wee spell of pressing them back. On the bright side I don't have to visit that sh**hole of a ground again for a while.
  18. I've been paying into the WS from the start and have increased my contributions a couple of times but tbh I don't have a clue about how much I've actually paid in through the years. This new app will at least tell me that and might even encourage me to increase my contributions again so from that point of view alone its a great step in the right direction despite what all the WS naysayers are bitching about on social media Hopefully the next announcement will be some inward investment.
  19. That's what happened last time so why not put a couple of cops on each door. There were enough of them standing at the side of the stand long before the game started scratching their arses doing nothing. Hopefully lessons have been learned and it doesn't happen a 3rd time because you can be sure the SPL will be looking for answers if they're not already.
  20. Caldwell reply makes perfect sense and glad that more measures have been put in place. Maybe an additional measure could be to put stewards on the access stairs so that those with tickets for the upper level are directed there and not allowed to the lower level. Easier said than done though.
  21. Maybe I'm being a bit stupid here but if every fan has to go through a turnstile which presumably registers the entry then the club should be able to tell exactly how many fans have entered through the turnstiles at any given time?. So unless there was other incidents where fans entered the ground illegally that we dont know about then it doesn't add up. Another part of the problem is that all the wee hangers on want to sit near the green brigade which understandably creates problems in that particular area but doesn't explain why the rest of the footwells were overcrowded. Once they're in the ground I would imagine it's near logistically impossible to turf them out so more robust checking of tickets before entry would help alleviate the problem or even reverting to paper tickets which would speed up the process by not having to check phones etc. I'm sure some kind of security measure could be added to the paper tickets so that they couldn't be forged and any attempt to do so picked up by the scanners. As I said once they're in the ground it's too late.
  22. 7106 maybe with about 2000 away fans. Maybe they'll be able to start repaying their covid loan now.
  23. A lot more interesting and radical than my effort. I think the main barriers to redeveloping FP would be the cost and the massive upheaval and disruption to games possibly requiring ground sharing somewhere for 1/2 seasons while any building work is carried out unless it could be done in such a way we were able to continue to play at FP and maintain revenue streams. Dont think it'll happen in my lifetime but it's interesting to speculate and gives us something else to argue/talk about.
  24. I wonder what the long term plans are for Knowetop Primary. The councils are offloading buildings and land all over Scotland as budget cuts take effect. If(and its a big if) the land it sits on were to become available at some point in the future would that be a viable proposition to build a new main stand there and effectively move the Hunter Stand to where the O'Donnell stand is just now. Probably not feasible or practical logistically or even affordable but could be something worth thinking about as a possibility in the long term should a move to Ravenscraig be ruled out completely.
