  1. Funny how a 4 hour return trip felt like an hour after a win whereas the last 3 1 game up there it felt like 8.
  2. Lamie for me. Thought he defended really well
  3. It's like a cup final for us and we need to treat it like one. Forget about the last 4 months and all the negativity for one night, we are one game away from a possible European spot and everything that brings to the club in terms of kudos, finance and attracting better players. We can argue about Alexander on the Thursday morning.
  4. I sincerely hope that fans take a step back from the doom and gloom surrounding Alexander (hard to do at the moment I know) and look at the bigger picture here. It's easy to get swept along with the despondency when you are reading it over all our forums. Yes the football has been dire but the talk of not renewing season tickets is concerning and would surely put the club into financial difficulty and affect the amount of funds available for Alexander or whoever replaces him at some point( if that happens) to strengthen the team. So if we think the football has been dire this season think what it might be like next season if we can't afford to go after better players. I'll be renewing mine regardless as it's the club I support, not the manager players or board members and I want to see us around in the top division for as long as we can. We've come a long way and I would hate to see us going backwards because of one (or 2 depending on how you look at it) bad seasons.
  5. You should go into the Killie and Midden threads in P&B and see how enjoyable the championship was/has been for them. Doesn't make good reading for anyone who thinks it would be better .
  6. See Aberdeen trying to sign big Chas from the Midden. Aberdeen's opening bid doesn't meet their valuation apparently. Am I missing something here??.
  7. Yeah good luck to Las, if anyone deserves success it's him and hopefully we see him back at FP one day with that experience under his belt. If rumours are true that Alexander is bringing in a new backroom team from Salford then that's a big thumbs up to him and a major financial commitment from the boardroom. My big fear is if the scenario you paint above transpires then the cost of paying up the contracts of an entire backroom team could be astronomical (realising that the costs would be the same for replacing any managerial/coaching staff), allied to scourcing replacements at the most inconvenient time. Hopefully things work out though as we've seen what changing managers has done for other teams this season.
  8. St Mirren fans saying that the position on offer is actually more of a General Manager in charge of all club affairs rather than just the football side of things which would need financial and managerial experience which Las obviously doesn't have. Time will tell I suppose.
  9. I'm broadly in favour ofVAR. For every decision that goes for you there will be one that goes against but at least then you know it was the right decision(well hopefully). On offside I would prefer it if there had to be daylight between the attacker and defender before being called. This offside because an attacker might have a semi and his shorts are an inch further forward than the defender is nonsense.
  10. Assuming the POTY night on the 7th will be rescheduled now.
  11. Just spent an hour looking through St Mirren Hibs Aberdeen St Johnstone threads and if you think the negativity in here is bad you should look through the ones above. They all want their managers sacked as well funnily enough. A bit of luck today with the Livi penalty claim as it could easily have been given considering the amount of decisions that went against us during the game. Given and it would have been goodnight Vienna but we must have been due a break from a referee at some point. I'm happy to see what transpires during the close season and reserve judgement until then. Hopefully he realises that winning games is important but you've got to have the fans on board with you as well.
  12. A good friend and neighbour of mine. I'm gutted and my heart goes out to his family.
  13. Lot of new chat on the St Midden forums on P&B that he's in line for the CEO/COO post there. Started a while ago when he was seen round their park and explained away by the fact he was watching his boy who plays in their youth system but has grown arms and legs since then.
  14. You just need to look at the dogs abuse he was getting from his own fans on the long walk up the stairs of the South Stand on Saturday. Lots of unhappy bunnies in Paisley. (Sorry about the animal references).
  15. Think that was a bit of satire on your username rather than a personal dig.
  16. They'll do a high press, high tempo in your face game like they usually do at home on their shit surface so we have to match that.
  17. Can I make my mind up on that at 4.59pm tomorrow.
  18. Think you're right on that but regardless, I just find the timing of it all a bit strange. Maybe nothing in it other than the press getting hold of the story via the players agent or something like that. Have the 2 clubs mentioned anything officially?
  19. Heard he told GA his tactics were shite (or words to that effect)
  20. Agree, you just need to look at the players faces during a game when they're looking over at the dugout, thinking "whit the fuck are ye daein".
  21. Just for once I'd like us to start a game full thunder and try to get the first goal and put pressure on the opposition to open up a bit and make the game at least mildly entertaining for the fans.
  22. The papers are waxing lyrical about how competitive the League is outside the Old Firm whereas I look at it as "fear football" with teams set up not to lose rather than try to win games which is not conducive to silky football. Yes it's competitive with no meaningless games but by Christ it's mind numbingly boring and looks like continuing in that vein for the foreseeable future.
  23. I kinda left the game thinking at least we got a point which isn't really what you want to be saying to yourself after a home game against Dundee. If we had won I probably wouldn't even be thinking about the game. BUT I've been watching Motherwell for 50 odd years now and I can't remember ever looking for excuses not to go to a game but the current tactics are severely testing my resolve (and my neck muscles). Don't think it's just a Motherwell thing tbh as most teams are serving up the same kind of dross in their own style but the standard of football in general in the SPL is absolutely dire at the moment.
  24. It's in the teams own hands. 2 winnable games at home with the crowd and a decent result behind them. Confidence must be high in the dressing room. They won't have a better chance to get a top six finish so time to show us what they're made of. COYW
