100% This is why I tend to avoid on here in the close season. Every year it's the same, the players we sign are shite/not good enough/never heard of them. If we went out and signed Messi some folk would still find something about him to moan about.

The way I look at it is despite the baggage the guy is undoubtably a very good player and you can never have enough of them in your team. Don't think it'll happen though that's assuming there's any truth in the story.

I also think that offering a 3 year deal gives any player choosing between us and the rest of the teams who might also interested in him but offering a shorter deal on much the same money a bit more security and hopefully be more inclined to sign for us.
