  1. Personally I think after years of the WS not really engaging with the membership people have become a little disinterested because no-one really knew what was going on behind the scenes. Hopefully with all the improvements on the communication side which I'm pretty impressed by, more and more members will become more engaged when they see the new openness and regular information coming from the new board. Its like night and day compared to a couple of years ago.
  2. Real Oviedad from Spain did that a few seasons ago which basically saved their club from going to the wall. I still have my share certificate somewhere.
  3. Everyone's entitled to hold their own political and social views and as long as they post them on their own social media accounts and not on anything related to the club I'm fine with it. I do understand however why some people might have reservations about someone with official connections to the club voicing what they consider to be controversial views. Depends what side of the fence you're on I suppose. At the end of the day he's a Motherwell fan and has worked tirelessly for the Well Society and that's what counts for me.
  4. Heard it was at the request of Ketts to try and make the place a bit more intimidating for away teams but the noise reverberating off the roof actually makes the away support sound louder(at least it sounds louder where I sit). It obviously also cuts down the chances of any altercations between home and away fans being so far away from each other. I would imagine it will only happen when the away support is in low enough numbers to house most/all of them in the upper tier.
  5. Although one of the WS guys over on P&B says he has it on good authority that Jack is only training with us so I would think he would be more in the know about these things. We can only dream about Turnbull.
  6. Word on the street is that he's been offered a contract. 3 different sources but it could just be the same rumour circulating.
  7. Pretty harsh judgement considering we've seen one play for 60mins and the other hasn't kicked a ball yet. Some of the Temu stuff isn't that bad tbf.
  8. Australia's pretty far away
  9. Yep. Quality of correspondence has greatly improved as has the communication from the WS. Slowly but surely we're getting our back house in order, just need that improvement to continue onto the park.
  10. Some on here would moan about him if he won a League and Cup double. They would also blame him if a player injured himself running his car up a lamp post on Airbles Road.
  11. At the end of the day he's better than anything we currently have (at least on paper). I really couldn't give a shit about his past history it's what he does on the park now that counts. Hope it works out for both him and us.
  12. Kettlewell is between a rock and a hard place. Does he sign young, fit as a butchers dog, injury free players or does he go with seasoned pros with experience of playing at SPL level and take a chance with fitness and injury issues Damned if he does damned if he doesn't. If he signed a load of young guys with no experience of the SPL and they turned out to be mince then he would be getting lambasted for not signing experienced pros and vice versa. The market and budget we"re operating in probably means thats our choice. It's a roll of the dice either way and nothing will change unless we get an Infusion of serious cash to let us compete with most of the other SPL clubs. Most seasons we win a watch with players but there will be one when we don't.
  13. Disabled and SEN fans have to provide proof of disability so generally get their tickets well in advance of games. 99% of our disabled fans are season ticket holders anyway and it's very rare for someone to turn up on spec on the day (although it does happen on occasion) but the ticket office staff handle that situation very well.
  14. Miller was singled out for some rough treatment and Blaney was subject to a bad tackle by White on Saturday so not surprised both are doubtful.
  15. Apparently Balmer played so that's always something.
  16. I've mentally set myself a limit of what I'm prepared to pay for away games. I rarely miss a game but think I'll be taking in a lot more games at my local WOSL clubs when we're away from home. I'm sure I won't be alone.
  17. They were put up there because of the reputation of their wee Ultras who got a friendly abandoned the previous week.
  18. St Mirren have done a few deals in the last couple of seasons. 24 quid for 2 adults and up to 20 under 12's from youth groups/teams. 200 season tickets given out (2 to every primary school in Renfrewshire). I believe that the Kibble Trust also give out free tickets to disadvantaged kids in the area. All these incentives will have added to their gates although having a good couple of seasons playing well and having European football will also have had a positive effect. Maybe we need to look at doing similar things (or possibly we already do?)
  19. Having watched him on Tuesday night, Kaleta looks as if he's maybe not 100% match fit yet and still getting to grips with the pace of the game up here and looked quite tentative but was slowly growing into the game. Put 2 really good whipped in balls across the face of the goal that someone should really have got on the end of. Maybe needs a bit more time to settle in but given that, I think he'll come good eventually. Certainly got all the modern day attributes, big strong and fast so if he's a quick learner he should be fine. People forget he's a young guy living away from his family in a totally different environment from what he's used to and it will take time to adjust. Was never going to be a nailed on starter from day one.
  20. Was at a WOSL game on Saturday and the 2 teams match secretaries were calling the new system a "dugs dinner" with loads of bugs. Going live across every league after Saturday according to them and expecting it to be a disaster especially in the lower leagues
  21. 1956 for me. My mother said that the Fir Park floodlights were the first thing I saw when I popped out so I was always destined to follow the 'Well.
  22. Off at a complete tangent here but did anyone else notice that the noise generated by the Thistle fans seemed to be a lot louder up in the top tier. Verdict amongst us was that being closer to the roof made the noise reverberate onto the park more. Or maybe we were all so scunnered by that time we were looking for things to talk about other than the game.
  23. Again you can't say replacing him made the difference alone in those games, it could have been a multitude of factors. Davor is what he is, he breaks play up and gives the ball to others more adept at the passing game. Yeah he's a bit lightweight when he's up against bigger stronger players but he's by no means the worst player out there. Crawford looked good because he had another 9 players working their socks off alongside him whereas we thought we were still on the beach.
  24. We've rarely led in games when the full team's been on the park so singling him out on that point is plain daft.
  25. I was thinking more of the 4 riders of the apocalypse.
