Season Tickets 2015/16 *** Topics Merged ***
EightSixteen replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
I'm not renewing until I know what league we're in. If we stay up then I'll renew at this price simply due to value for money. I suspect our PATG prices will be cheaper within the Championship so (unless we revise the ST price upon learning our fate) I'll pick my games and PATG. I've only made 3 games this season despite having a ST. I don't mind missing games but I do mind paying over the odds for anything. -
I'm chuffed with that, right length of contract given his age. He brings a lot to the team and I'm happy we have him for another two seasons.
-
Unbelievable brace! Two amazing goals! We are all Lionel Ainsworth!! We are the Motherwell FC!!
-
Think they stem from the rumours of discontent amongst the team when Faddy and Clarkson weren't offered contracts over the summer. No credible source at the time and none now as far as I can see.

Lasley has always been a poor Captain. Craigan told it like it was. If someone fucked up you could see him turning purple screaming at them. If the ref blew his whistle and was about to make a bad call against us, Craigan was right up at the ref the defending us. Craigan was our last Captain, since then we've just had Lasley wearing the armband each week. Don't get me wrong, I love Lasley but his footballing days are past him and his leadership qualities appear to be non-existent.

Another excellent podcast guys, well done!
-
Ask him to clarify what his role entails. Might get a few keyboard warriors off his back, despite them not having a bloody clue what he does like the rest of us. I'd be lying if I wasn't curious to see how it compares to Dempster's role. Good work with these podcasts btw lads; your doing a top job and I'm glad you's are sticking with it.

Definitely reading too much into. Solanke's just won England's Youth player of the year award. Carsy's just following folk he's inspired by I guess.

I am all for plastic parks if it helps us financially. The reduction in costs (training & ground upkeep) is not to be sniffed at for a club that makes a loss regularly. The only thing that worries me more than our league position is how fucked we are financially. Anything that goes toward reducing our outgoing costs is a big positive in my book.

We could be well on the way to admin just now, the board have made it quite clear our budget is based on a top 6 finish every season. Despite our "best of the rest" league positions in the last 3 years, we've made consecutive losses each fiscal year. Bottom 6 seems likely to result in the rest of the Well Society's (already diminished) War Chest being swallowed up to keep us afloat, initially. Even then, I'm not confident we could afford our outgoings for very long. If we go down, it's game over. If there's going to be any changes, they need to be made now. Not in a few weeks. Not at Christmas. Now, before it's too late.

Nicky was supposed to be a player, what went wrong?
-
I understand why he wanted to sell, then why he wanted fan ownership, neither have panned out though. He paid Faddy's wages for long enough to suggest he still has steel coursing in his blood... I'm not saying he'll be back either way but I'm not closed off to this being a potential possibility. When the WS officially folds, will he still not be the majority shareholder?
-
How would we feel about John Boyle coming back in if the WS doesn't pan out? He knows that he'll never get a decent price for the club, his honest intentions for the WS don't look like they'll pan out and still, he isn't beyond putting money into the club or funding wages. How would we feel if he comes back in December?

We're a top six team. That's what we aim for, we secure it by winning as many games as possible. People that want more than that shouldn't, if we get more than that though then great. We've been fortunate in previous seasons playing out many a game for a narrow, scrappy win. There has been very few occasions in recent seasons where we've played truly great football but plenty were we've been woefull during succussful seasons. We've had a bad start yeah, agreed, but there are many more games to come where we can pick up scrappy points and get on. We have no right to be at the top of the table nor any right to be top 6 (at any point in the season) but from what I know of our manager and our squad, we can achieve top 6 and we can panic later on in the season if need be. A bad start and a dissasterous euro run isn't enough for me to chuck my ST. If we continue to flap and end up in the relegation play offs then I can appreciate those considering it but just now it's just knee jerk reactions. Hope for better days, we've seen enough of them with similar squads maki g the same mistakes we've alway made so lets just bide our time and see what happens.

Anyone give us an clue as to what happened with the penalties? Were we shite tonight or unlucky? Excluding our defense, how do we look elsewhere on the pitch in a competetive game?
-
Agreed. I can't imagine it's the money to mouth situation though. Given the circumstances, this was his opportunity to either succeed or go out in a blaze of glory. He might well have issues in his life but fading out prior to our 'make or break' point is more likely to be the affirmation expected by the WS nay sayers. It's not going to boost the confidence of existing members or serve as the turning point for those on the fence -claiming to be ready to dip into their pockets. Whilst I wasn't thrilled with his appointment, I accepted it as being a board member, voted on for us, by us. I had expected him to see the journey through to the end and I can't take any positives from the news at all.

What do folk reckon of Barnstable taking a back seat on our final push for the 800k? Shat the bed?
-
I actually liked Steve Jones. Thought he done alright for us and I wouldn't be against a return if he took a sensible wage.
-
I remember the bucket collection now you mention it, could have done one every home game though as opposed to the odd one or two. I wasn't aware of the quiz night however (busy studying for exams) but that's certainly a step in the right direction. Personally, I'd see more appeal in some kind of end of season party, euro night or a replay of the cup win during the close season. All occasions to sell a lot drink and if the WS have their own bottles behind the bar, it'll raise a fair bit at nominal cost.
-
That's actually my point though, so if we're more or less maxed out on memberships then why are The WS not fundraising? Why haven't they done any since the plateau?
-
I think the Well Society board could be doing more to raise capital for the pot. I understand that folk joining or upping their subscriptions is what they want but after the first initial push we've had a distinct lack of momentum. Pretty impressive sums are raised by charities by hosting various fundraisers being held throughout the year. We've got the cooper and centenary at our disposal and I cant think of anything events they've put on. The fans game being the most obvious. What about an end of season shindig with all the drink behind the bar being removed and replaced with bottles purchased by the WS (and sold at the clubs current pricing), would that not raise a tidy sum? Would having it as a ticketed event not boost that further? Would having a quick auction for (the redundant) player signed puma kits not further boost that if everyone's out their tits? Maybe a raffle with donated prizes? This list isn't exhaustive. I'm not saying that fundraisers like this are going to help reach the November target but more of an effort from the WS would not go a miss. For them to start thinking past, what is essentially a donation, is a must but I think it could be too little too late.
-
Cheers Scoojy! I'm sure the ticket prices were frozen last year in all stands. I was rooked so it came as a huge relief and that's why I remember. I have no problem with the increases for that reason.
-
I couldn't find any mention of how long the club are reserving the existing ST seats for until they're released. Anyone know the deadline this year?
-
Surprise surprise. I'll go 3-2 to us with Neilson giving us the fear throughout.
