Wouldn't like to disappoint OTF by not commenting on my 'cyberson'. Did someone not post on here that he had gone to Czech Republic ? Gotta love this forum, Kerr gets roundly slated by some posters for his performances yet has hardly ever featured in his rightful position at CB. Likewise Murray has played 2 or 3 games as a left back and 'looked average' despite him being a right sided CB. Others have not to be judged harshly coz they've only played 30 odd games in their correct position. Give the the youngsters coming through a chance guys, the pressure put on them is not at all helpful. Erwin and young Dom Thomas are already being hyped up and will be players, but let them develop and don't start whining when they come in and invariably have the odd less than effective game. We have big problems defensively at the moment and unless Darren Barr signs, not the ideal replacement at the back but a decent pro, the start of the season could be interesting. Anyway I'm back over the border so will miss a few months of the season, but keep my hopes up we can keep our recent standards up.

'Ross Stewart? Like Euan Murray nothing from the club in the way of announcements. I'd assumed he'd moved on because reference to him has been removed from the Official site.' Think the problem is lack of communication from the club clarifying various situations at present, ie injuries, signings (not holding my breath on that one), and general chat re the season ahead. Difficult time with the legendary media man taking up a new role, but a wee bit of confirmed info from the club can go along way to keeping the fans on-side, if not always happy.
-
No sure about this, I was told Stewart had signed a new deal a week or so ago. Re Kerr, think folk are being a bit harsh on him; he is a centre back by trade and until he plays a few times there judgement should maybe be held back.
-
Post re Carswell is somewhat off the mark. He is not, and to the best of my knowledge never claimed to be, a creative goalscoring midfielder. He is however an effective defensive/ holding midfielder who goes about his business quietly and with a good deal of energy and effort. In short he is in the team to do a thankless, more often than not dirty, job and as a result goes under the radar when it comes to effectiveness and fans' appreciation. Perhaps he will blossom more when Keef's appearances start to tail off as he starts feeling his age.

The botom line is the team was not prepared enough, the number of games played before this tie was never going to get the team match fit. The club allowing players to leave for zip also is coming home to roost as SM has no funds to adequately replace outgoing players. I have been taken to task, even abused personally, for stating this previously by other SMol posters but facts are facts, no club can keep allowing players to leave for o return.

Gutted at the moment that is all !

Great to see big Erwin make his debut. Bit concerned 're back 4 as they were a bit exposed, for reasons already posted, and the lack of a Hutchy type mobile, aggressive cb. Mick likes a bit of pace beside him so I feel it might take a bit of time for the defence to sort itself. Perhaps a wee punt on Kerr beside him might work. Anyway it's only half-time, so fingers crossed for 2nd leg.

Sure I read Ross Stewart had 're-signed, did he play last night?
-
Delighted for both wee Dom T and big Lee E. Glad Erwin has put injury behind him.

Just wakened with the mother and father of all WC hangovers. It would appear I have offended a fellow poster with my vodka fuelled ramblings, and I apologise unreservedly for that. I have been a little naive in posting bits of info I had and jumping to the wrong conclusion. I will no longer post when pished, and even when sober will consider carefully, as it is bad enough coming home drunk with an ugly tattoo or half eaten kebab, but a pro footballer; wow ! Again my apolgies to anyone I have offended.

Sorry mate, nae idea.. Basing this on snippet I heard 're negotiations before I was on holiday, and the fact the club haven't made any official statement. I don't think they would be slow telling us they got money in for a player, given the number that have left over the last couple of seasons for nowt. Could be I'm putting 2+2 and getting 5 .
-
Thanks for that Numpty. My contact is on holiday and I couldn't get a straight answer from other sources. Bit of a shame as I thought he could have been a good squad player. More concerned with club not getting compensation, even only a thousand or so, which would always be a help to the club , given the financial difficulties in Scottish football.
-
Cheers for that. Hopefully for him he's no back at the club coz you've probably cost him a fine, lol. Nae pics of his Mrs? Poor show.
-
Thanks MB. I was told about 5 weeks ago he had been offered a deal but hadn't heard anything since. Superward, what game ? Did you speak to him, as I know 1 or 2 of his pals and none of them frequent that establishment and from what they tell me he is usually tucked up the night before a match.

Anything about Cummins and/ or Murray being off ? I would have hoped Murray would have been retained as he showed he could play full back as well.
-
Cheers Sieb.
-
Just back from mobile and laptop free hols (bliss). Trying to catch up with all the goings on. No confirmation re Cummins being released, I remember he had tweeted messages suggesting he was off ? Anyone know if Murray is off as well, don't see anything saying he's re-signed like Moore and Leitch (good work Flow BTW)? Hollis still here ? Cheers guys.
-
No sure about the Laz story, but the second part could explain why there's no word re Ross Stewart or Euan Murray having re-signed.
-
Leitch has an offer and will be here, I'm also told Thomas has signed a deal as well. 're the compensation thing I agree that there are a few factors to consider but I get fed up with players leaving the club, if indeed Murray is going, without any money coming in. Even a thousand or 2 would help paying for some of the maintenance needed close season.
-
100% he was on a 2 year deal. If no offer has been made he will walk for nothing, which is bordering on utter nonsense. As I said earlier for a club in our financial position even a 10 or 20 grand fee would be helpful. I have no definite word but as I posted I have not heard any news about a contract for him which I find very strange.
-
My wee source in Lanarkshire tells me Leitch will be here next season a contract is about to be signed. Ainsworth is weighing up a couple of options. Not getting any news 're Murray which is worrying, as whether he is good enough for the spfl is a moot point, but it appears if he leaves the club are not in a position to claim development compensation. When evey pound is a prisoner even a small fee would help. This follows a trend of allowing players to leave for free while other clubs seem to be able to get money for players surplus to requirements.
-
My info is that Murray is out of contract.
-
This is a valid point. The problem is we have a budget which is strained to breaking point and I would wager my mortgage that the out of contract players are being offered deals which are less or the same money they have been on. Add in the deals will probably be on a yearly basis now for the younger guys and that may explain the lack of movement regarding Reid, Leitch and Murray. I know this will not sit well with the majority on here but the lack of sevco , and now Hivs n hertz , along with the potential of no sponsorship for the SPFL again due to it being unattractive commercially is putting the club in almost impossible situation vis a vis retaining or recruiting players. The likes of Mick, Hammy and hopefully Las are nearing the end of their careers and are, I would imagine, well enough off not to be too concerned about a wage rise or longer deals.
-
Leitch could be but almost certain Murray ain't.
