Scottish Premiership Game 5: Kilmarnock (H) Saturday 09/09/17
Wallace_MFC replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Really enjoyed the second half today. Carsons saves in first half were vital. Thought his second save from the header was great, ball looked like it was already over him and he's clawed it away. Campbell was brilliant, seems like he won every tackle. Even the 50/50s he seems to always get a foot in there. Moult unlucky not to score from open play. Was a bit surprised Rose went off, but Bigi then sets up Bowman who takes his goal excellently. Was so good to have Hammell whipping in some crosses on left hand side 2nd half. Missed Frear today. Killie pretty poor second half but if not for our 2nd goal on another day just might have nicked a point late on as we began to sit in. In an ideal football world we'd have put the game to bed much earlier. Kipre solid again. Campbell man of the match for me. -
For some reason I thought the new player was Latvian not Lithunian. Which is it?

Looked like the physio followed him. Great to have Frear back today. -
Campbell. Best Well player on the park today.

With Moult, I'd be happy to take a punt, his goals are worth more to Mothetwell than anything less than say 500k. Great opportunity to progress in league cup and reach a semi final. I'd take a shot at a potential cup success (and staying in the league) and losing him for nothing in a year than selling for the sake of selling. Gives us a year to find a suitable replacement.

Great player, great career, really nice guy good luck to Stephen McManus in his new role.

This is hard. Trying to pick players I've seen playing live and brought most satisfaction to me over the past 30 years (Marc Fitzpatrick's goal at easter Road) and got an a4 bit of paper full of scribbles. Trying to pick players in a formation too, to give everyone a fair crack. Midfield punch up between Dolan, Leitch, lasley and simo Valakari going on in my head. Paul Lambert probably walks into my top 10 along with Tommy coyne. The performance in Dortmund was phenomenal. Gonna be a long night. -
He scored some great goals there for Oldham. If he's available and we can get him, we should go for it.

Job done. Group won. 11 goals for in 3 games. 2 against. Bring on the (berwick) Rangers. Hope we get a good draw in the next round. Chris caddens setting himself up for a stevie kirk scoring in every round. -
I thought today was one of the better friendlies I've been too. Liked having all the subs at half time too.

Home game for me too tomorrow. But won't manage any pre/ post match drinks. Shame. I remeber the last friendly at forthbank must be over ten years ago and it was a great day out. Ended up in Nicky tams with a bunch of well fans who'd been at the toll booth to see a band from motherwell.

I asked McManus regarding assistant manager job at sponsors night. He said he wanted to keep playing. Though (and I'd had a few beers) can't remember him saying he wouldn't be.

We were unlucky not to win here already this season (dodgy disallowed goal). Away win. -
Ian Baraclough coming back as assistant.

I don't recall since Craig Browns appointment motherwell being particularly speedy with an appointment which isn't necessatily a bad thing. Robinson and co have already proved there equipped to manage things whilst the club take there time in making there next move. I'm going to speculate Robinson until the end of the season with a view to Valakari coming in for a fresh start in the summer. I liked Simo as a player. I'm sure he never scored for us but scored on his debut for Derby (can't remember if Derby were in the premiership or not).

Great result! Really pleased with 3 points. We've got a decent record at Killie on plastic now? I can think of 4 2-1 victories off the top of my head recently. To cap off a great three points last minute winners from Swansea, Millwall and a last minute penalty miss from Kris Boyd got ma coupon up!
