Given there are a few premier league teams knocked out and a couple of all Premiership ties in this round, if we can beat Caley Thistle here we can maybe go on a reasonable cup run. Win one game and you’re in the quarters, not sure if I like that, even if it is to our benefit this season.

Hard disagree, I thought Lamie won every header, and generally strolled it. Stick a competent centre half next to him and we wouldn’t be so easy to beat.

I want to start off by saying that I disagree with the sentiment that Sligo were the better team. They were not, they sat in and defended while we had plenty of possession. We were the better team, but that doesn’t mean we were good. Far from it. We were fucking minging, unable to break down a disciplined team who worked their arses off. The way to beat this team was to switch the ball quickly, work the overload on the wing and whip low balls in for Van Veen and the attacker on the other side to attack. The ONE time we did that Shields managed to miss from 6 yards. Our left side linked up well in the first half a few times but did nothing in the second half. We absolutely must turn this around next week. We can’t get knocked out by a mid table Irish team. Get Bevis and Shields to fuck and find a way to start Tierney in behind a front two of KVV and another striker we sign ASAP. Losing at home to Sligo is very poor, but getting put out the tie altogether and it’s time for Alexander to go. Sitting in Glasgow airport just now and the Sligo squad and a ton of fans are here. Fair play to them they are absolutely buzzing the lot of them.

Lots to dissect about the game tonight and I’ll give my opinion when not on my phone, but what was the song that the Well Bois sang towards the Sligo fans that got booed by the rest of the stand? I heard a few old boys shouting at them to “fuck off to ibrox with that pish” but couldn’t make it out.

I get what you’re saying YB and I agree, but at the end of the day what the fans think will happen doesn’t change a thing. I trust Alexander to take this as seriously as possible out of all the managers we have had recently. An Albion Rovers or the Iceland debacle might have happened due to the relaxed nature of McGhee, McCall or Robinson, but I just can’t see Alexander being anything other than fully focused on the task at hand. I fully expect us to win this comfortably.

Viking are also 3rd in their league, 15 games into the season. I wouldn’t rule them out. Very tough tie for us, we’ll need a bit of something special to get through this.

I thought last season we were more of a 4-5-1 without the ball, our two “wingers” were always tracking all the way back for us. I think Morris is a direct replacement.

Thank fuck for that! Sligo looked decent for 10 minutes but were, overall, shite. I fancy us comfortably. I also heard that there were 4000 there tonight? Starting to think there is gonna be a scramble for tickets.
