You can be vague about context of circumstances and mitigation all you like but you cannot deny the fact that in the modern game going 15 games without a win is indefensible. Wilkinson has moved on? That makes up for signing him? He was god awful. Obika might be away soon? That again makes up for extending his deal? Having zero wingers in our squad to give us any form of plan B, who's idea was that? When he gets rid of Olli Shaw in this window does that make it a good signing coz he only lasted 6 months as well? I really can't quite fathom why it's okay to sign these players so long as they get "moved on" just a few months later. The only decent signings he made he waited until it was absolutely necessary to play them and when they come in and do extremely well he has the nerve to say it was a masterplan to wait until they were "ready". As for Bair's form in the last 2 weeks, everyone in the SPFL was howling for signing him on a 2 year deal, even the St Johnstone fans couldn't believe it. Delighted he scored 2 goals against Livingston but other than that he's barely been better than Wilkinson who was so bad he got shipped out 6 months later. I didn't see the 2nd half vs Alloa but apparently he missed 4 good chances that he should have buried. If we're "hanging our hat" on Bair to push us up the table we're in big trouble. For the most part it was KVV that kept us up last year. I don't doubt that SK came in and rejuvinated the squad with enthusiasm and what not, which was exactly what we needed at the time, but that only takes you so far. His tactics are awful, and a 3-1 and a 2-2 draw in recent games are blinding folk to some of the worst performances in recent memory. Remember Ross County, Aberdeen & St Johnstone when we were absolutely fucking atrocious, those were regular occurrences. We have been SO bad in so many games during that 15 game spell, all down to the way the players were being made play. Granted we aren't rolling in it, but I doubt SK's budget is any worse than Hammell's or Alexander before him, and even if it is, it makes it worse he signed Soare, Wilkinson, Bair & Obika with that budget that is allegedly "tying one hand behind his back". Is that what we are settling for now, having "not actually THAT bad" results in 8 game spells whilst the real form guide tells you we went FIFTEEN games without a win. You cannot dodge that, dress it up, skirt around it or avoid it, it is an indefensible run of form. Fifteen games without a win + some howling performances along the way + fucking up the last window means giving him this window will be disastrous.

I remember it well and it was harsh to say the least. Forgetting that, try and defend the 15 games without a win bit now.

We went 15 games without a win with some truly honking performances in there but we shouldn’t bin him off and look for something better because at least he’s not a nutcase? Remember he threw Gent under the bus not that long ago. Your last line of “but obviously it won’t” suggests that those asking for change are in the wrong. 15 games without a win and he signed Theo Bair, Conor Wilkinson and Jon Obika. I’d say people are within their rights to suggest that maybe he isn’t up to it!

Plenty of lower division teams in the hat for the second round. Another nice easy home tie would be perfect, feel like we're due a wee bit of luck this season.
-
Completely agree, there seems to be no tactics or gameplan, or a designated way to play. Alloa have barely been in our half. We're comfortable in possession but we don't look like creating clear cut chances. A real lack of pace and penetration through the middle.

Fantastic start!

Any of the academy boys on the bench a striker? Any exciting ones for the future or that? Looking for anything to be positive about here.
-
I'm surprised at the 1.5 year deal but it's not the worst signing, we lack experience in midfield and he gives us that.
-
Been a fairly awful winter break for us with the split opinion of the social media stuff, the injury to Slattery and the Biereth fiasco. A comfortable routine 3-0 win and into the hat would go a long way to settling the support a little. Let's get back to the football and get the job done!
-
How much money do you think Biereth is on a week at Arsenal? How much do you think we were covering? How much more do you think Sheffield Wednesday would cover than we were? How little will that final number be in the grand scheme of things to Arsenal, a team in the latter stages of the Champions League this year? Saying that how we play and where we in the league are is "pish" and it's money related to a team as rich as Arsenal is just not true. Reiss Nelson on 20 grand a week, maybe. Biereth on 10% of that, not so much.
-
It's not necessarily our fault, but if we were 5th in the league playing free flowing football and he was developing he'd still more than likely be here. As it is we have 1 win in however many games and he spends half the game chasing trademark Stephen O'Donnell floaters into the channel all alone with minimal help. It's no wonder Arsenal recalled him. I can't believe I'm saying this, but our top flight status hangs on Theo Bair continuing his two match good form for the rest of the season. All the while we have a CEO or whatever he is focusing on a fucking YouTube video where some wee kid begs Taylor Swift for money. We've also got a great young left back really coming onto a game, and our young right back departs. What do we do? Sign another right back to fill that slot? Nope sign an identical left back to the one we already have. We are a fucking shambles. A fucking shambles.
-
Very annoying to lose Mika, unless we can get some real quality in this window I really fear for us. I don't trust SK to get it right this window either. Yes he signed Biereth but has also signed a whole host of shite as well. I think we're fucked, I really do.
-
A real shame for Slattery, I suspect he'll now receive a 1 year extension from us with agreeable terms for both parties. 76 appearances for us, he deserves an extension providing it's agreeable for all involved.
-
Need a right back, not a left back!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67960380 The chairman saying it has worked well, and dismissing speculation that it was embarrassing for the club. I still think it's a shocker and I loathe the fact that we're proud that 99% of 2.4 million people are laughing at us. "Taylor Swift gies yer dosh!!" arghhhhhhhh it makes my skin crawl!
-
I was expecting an absolute belter from 30 yards! Apparently Luton & Everton interested too.
-
They are blinded by the fact it's Motherwell FC. If St Johnstone had done this they'd be howling.
-
It's one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen come out of our club. 100% of our fans will absolutely hate that. Jesus fucking christ.
-
Maguire is a reasonable squad player and can help us see out games for the last 20 minutes if we're ever winning. I know he isn't rated that well by our support but being a guy who's come through the ranks here I hope he gets a decent reception if he ever gets game time.
-
The big man takes an absolute smash to the face and bounces straight back up as if he didn’t feel a thing, fucking class.
-
I could get behind that if they weren't changes made out of necessity. If he rested Paton one week and brought in Davor then fair doos. If he'd decided he had had enough of O'Donnell launching ball after ball after ball after ball into the channel to absolutely fucking nobody and dropped him in favour of Spencer on his natural side and Gent in the LWB position then I could get behind it, but the fact is he had to play Gent. He had to play Davor. They've both come in and done excellently, far better than those that were there before them, and now suddenly it's a managerial masterstroke of waiting until "they were both ready"? What does that even mean anyway? Has Georgie Gent suddenly become ready for the pishest SPFL in years by facing none of the wingers we have in training? They have been put in the team out of necessity, it is nothing to do with them suddenly being ready. Don't let Kettlewell convince you otherwise. He's a Scottish Baraclough.
-
Gent for me. Funny that him and Davor have both been great since coming in, changes that were only made out of necessity…
-
Some very heavy legs out there for us, mainly Bair and Biereth. Need to hold on for an absolutely massive three points.
-
YES!!!!!

Front 3 of Gent, Bair & Biereth could be great.
