No no, Lawless is on the bench.

It may not be his best position but he'd be far better than Donnelly was last weekend. I like Donnelly but he is miles off it right now. It would also give us a bit more quality with Lawless in between their defence and midfield, something we badly lacked last week. And it would also piss off O'Neills40yarder.

Watt back in for Shields and Lawless in for Donnelly with Maguire in CDM. Lawless played well when he came on last weekend.

I thought we were rank fucking rotten for 70 minutes today, Lamie & Slattery aside. Time and time again Mugabi picked up the ball and at the slightest hint of pressure on him he would just fuckin launch it up the park to absolutely nobody. We have a front three with a bit of quality now (although they barely showed it today), it must be so frustrating for them to be constantly chasing balls over the top that St Johnstone mopped up all day long. Maguire was anonymous today and Donnelly was very poor. We need O'Hara to return or to sign a decent central midfielder pronto. As for the decision to start Shields who has had no pre-season games but leave Ojala on the bench, a strange one from Alexander. Credit where it's due though to him for making the changes. Hopefully Lawless can kick on from today.

I was the exact same, delighted to be proven wrong. He is very athletic, if he can add a bit of quality to his game he could well go on to big or better things than Motherwell.

I remember we signed him and Lawless and most people thought he was a very poor signing and Lawless was a great piece of business, myself included. Would happily take him back but as mentioned I doubt we will sign him as we have a lot of players in that position already.

Totally agree MB. 4-3-3 isn't the problem, it didn't work last season because Maguire was inexperienced, Campbell was off form and Crawford isn't good enough. This season's Maguire (who looks completely different), Donnelly & Slattery will more than hold their own once they're up to speed, with O'Hara there to offer fresh legs.

Surprised that people prefer Mugabi to Lamie, I have it the other way round.

A shame for Scott, I thought he would make it down there. To be back up at St Mirren so quickly is a setback for him.

If only Woolery had put that chance away to put us back in front. We really didn't deserve to lose today, but it is what it is. If we take the same energy into the next game with a bit more quality and a bit less hoofball I'll be happy. Away to St Johnstone, away to Livi and at home to Dundee. I'd like to see us take 5 points from the next 2 games at an absolute minimum. KVV is a Dutch Berbatov, just pure class.
