  1. Three more that spring to mind: Aberdeen away in the cup in 1991. My first ever visit to Pittodrie, and a big away support that didn't stop singing for the entire 90 mins. The Dons were the holders and were a top side back then, and went on to almost win the league that season (before bottling it at Ibrox on the final day). No-one (including myself) gave us a hope. I can still remember the place going absolutely mental when Stevie Kirk scored, probably the best goal celebration I've ever experienced. On the long journey home I definitely had a feeling that this was going to be our year. The midweek game at Ibrox in 1993 (I think), which was the only time I've seen us win there. We went a goal down in the first half, but hit back courtesy of a Dougie double. My most vivid memory of this game is of the fans who invaded the pitch and danced around Colin Scott's goal following the winner. Sadly I missed the Owen Coyle game where we stopped them winning 9-in-a-row, which must be right up there when it comes to great away days. The Fergus McCann game at Parkhead in 1994. Celtic's crowds had been around the 15,000 mark, but they all came out the woodwork for the first game of the new regime. It was supposed to be a celebration, the culmination of a long campaign to sack the old board with McCann heralded as the saviour of Celtic. Instead, Dougie quickly shut the hordes up with an early goal, and with big Sieb outstanding at the other end we held on for a famous victory.
  2. I remember it well. It was in the Scottish Cup, the season before we won it. That was the period when Hearts were at their most detestable. Henry Smith, Walter Kidd, Craig Levein, Dave McPherson, Gary MacKay, John Robertson et all. We had a huge support that day too. I'm sure I can remember the guys behind the GLF fanzine distributing red cards for the 'Well fans to wave at Walter Kidd. Horrible day.
  3. Just received my financial statement for the year ended 31 May 2013. The club recorded a loss of £184,498, which has been attributed to the following factors: 1 - Approx £900k of prize money for finishing 2nd was distributed evenly between the SPL clubs, mainly to compensate clubs for the loss of Rangers gate income. We also had a "generous" bonus scheme for players and management for finishing 2nd. 2 - Exiting both cups in the first round. The club are reviewing their policy of allowing season ticket holders free entry into the first home cup tie each season. 3 - Lower than expected transfer income. The club are doing "everything we believe to be possible" to achieve value for players leaving the club. Other points: - Budgeting for 2013/14 has been difficult due to uncertainties surrounding distributions from the new SPFL setup. MFC are "particularly disappointed" that the SPFL haven't found a sponsor. - The club do not budget for the "worst case scenario" as this would see our player budget reduced by over 40%. Instead, the club make "conservative but realistic assumptions" on our income streams. - It was again emphasised that success of the Well Society is "critical" to the long term sustainability of the club. At present, the society has 1195 members, which is approx 22% of our core season ticket base.
  4. I'm currently ar mini steelkids with my son and there are indeed covers over the problematic areas of the pitch. Mainly the area in front of the East towards the South Stand end. Absolutely chucking it down at the moment so fingers crossed...

  7. Was that the guy whose first touch in a 'Well jersey was to score an o.g. against Hamilton Accies?
  8. Motherwell's McCall hits out at 'crazy' loan rule Sounds like Dundee were interested in taking McHugh too.

  10. The only toilet I could find in that stand could accommodate a maximum of four people.
  11. Another day of heavy rain forecast for tomorrow. Pitch looked good yesterday but I'm not sure how much more it can take.
  12. From Motherwell's Twitter: 'Well make two changes to the side that won at Firhill 3 days ago. McFadden & Francis-Angol drop out, Hutchinson & Sutton are in. Motherwell: Twardzik, Hammell, Ramsden, Hutchinson, McManus, Sutton, Vigurs, Lasley, Carswell, Anier, Ainsworth [/url] Subs: Nielsen, McFadden, Lawson, Cummins, McHugh, Francis-Angol, Moore
  13. If our financial situation is indeed precarious, then the Society should be making this crystal clear. Complacency is the main reason why some of my friends haven't joined.
  14. McCall in today's Motherwell Times - unlikely to be any additions to the squad in January.
  15. Don't have MFC TV either, but there's a wee interview with Keith Lasley in today's Evening Times.
  16. Motherwell to pay the price after fans vandalise Hamilton Accies' stadium during humiliating defeat to Albion Rovers
