  1. Kelly certainly earned his wages tonight, that one save very late on was the difference between 3 points and 1. At the back, we were pretty solid, but we can't do it for 90 mins, we always make enough errors that one of them eventually costs us. I was actually thinking that Mugabi had a MoM performance tonight, but then he let his man run off him for the goal. Lambie and Carroll were solid enough, but I was disappointed by O'Donnell. Very poor distribution tonight. In midfield, Campbell and Crawford were willing workers, disrupting play when they could, but were easily by-passed by United in the second half. Maguire had a very good first 45, but faded badly in the second. Up front, Cole really was on his game and is certainly a handful on that form. Long looked to be in the mood to score more and Watt was very composed and cultured, except in front of goal where he really needs a break.
  2. I agree that it was a good result. The second half performance though was dreadful.
  3. I'll take that result, but the performance must improve. To be pummeled by a poor Dundee United team says it all. Three points that I'm very grateful that we got, but FFS, we need to play both halves of a game.
  4. That's a pen. Or at least indirect free kick.
  5. I think Polworth has been giving Maguire advice at half time
  6. Long is a damn good striker of the ball. So close there.
  7. Will we never learn. When we get possession we seem hell bent on just hoofing it back to United.
  8. Pretty sure that none of those were penalties. But pressure is on the ref now.
  9. Very typical start to the second half by Motherwell
  10. A very satisfactory half that. We looked quite flat to begin with, but once we got a couple of balls into their box the tide turned. However, too many slack moments at the back. If it wasn't for a wonderful tackle by Mugabi the half time scoreline could be a lot different. We mustn't continue to give the ball away, and we must put balls into their box.
  11. We'll score a bucket full if we get crosses into the box.
  12. We need to be playing in the United half of the pitch, they look so poor at the back.
  13. I have to say though, a couple of excellent crosses by Maguire.
  14. What a couple of chances. Yet again, nothing comes of it though.
  15. Not the best of starts so far. Very slack and not as much energy as United. Hardly touched the ball or made a pass.
  16. Yeah, we should be winning this one. We've been the better team in both games against them this season without getting the points. So, I expect, with the win last week, we'll have enough to see us get the 3 points this time.
  17. That was a huge win. Not just the 3 points, but for what it could mean to morale and player confidence.
  18. For once it is a difficult for the right reasons; there were many good performances today. Gallagher, Mugabe, Watt all stood out for me. I'm going for Mugabe this week.
  19. The team did really well today. Defensively solid throughout, just one lapse in 90 mins cost us a couple of points. Only to be expected given the amount of pressure that the back line was under. Rangers had very few clear chances. We do sit far too deep for me, and relinquishing the corner areas in our third, inviting crosses is a dangerous game of percentages. Big Dec and Bevis were excellent in the centre, mopping up pretty much everything, but it is asking a lot for them to win everything for 90 mins. In midfield, I thought that Campbell and Crawford battled well in the first half, but fell away as we got deeper in the second half. It wasn't really a game for Polworth. There was very little opportunity to create, but he was involved in the goal. Up top, Watt and Cole put in a shift, with a well worked goal as a reward. Could be ok with them if they get some service. So, in summary, an excellent point. A much improved performance with some hope for the coming fixtures. Things to work on; I'd like to see us play a bit further up the pitch when under pressure and be much better with ball retention when we get the chance to come out of a pressure situation.
  20. A terrific point. Well done to everyone involved in that effort.
  21. No surprise really. If you keep inviting crosses into your box, then the chances are that you'll eventually lose a goal. Now see it out for a point.
