For two key reasons I would say - Jason Scotland is black. Mark McGhee is not a paedo. Racist/sectarian chanting is sung with venom. The paedo stuff is sung in jest. Simples!
-
It was no small minority of fans at Pittodrie who were singing the paedo stuff. Was more like 50/50. If it had been a minority, then the majority could have easily drowned it out, but most people seemed to have preferred to sit on their hands and then scurry down the road to spout their drivel on an internet site. Also, attempting to 'out' people who were guilty of it is pretty pathetic. If you know the individuals involved, and you weren't happy with their conduct, you should have enough about you to go up and tell them your grievance. Some fairly cowardly and pathetic folk on this forum if you ask me.

Erm...we can, actually. Leaving the ground on saturday, we were talking about how the paedo stuff would be all over the papers, and given that we had actually sang that we couldn't really complain. However, lumping in the 'f****n' patter aswell was a chance for the media to imply that there is a widespread sectarian problem in football (which there isn't) to detract away from the fact that only two teams are guilty of this on any real scale. In the generation before this, illigitimate children was the taboo subject in society and, in a bid to be contraversial/offensive as possible, it was latched onto by football fans everywhere and nowadays you can't sit in a stadium for two minutes without hearing someone being called a bastard and nobody bats an eyelid. Also, nobody jumps to the conclusion that the 'victim' of the shout is of dubious parentage, much in the same way that nobody with a brain will leap to the conclusion that the 'Well fans are seriously accusing Mutley of any paedo tendancies. I think people need to lighten up a bit and stop panderring to the mainstream media - the level of mock outrage is more embarrassing than the chants themselves.

Did I meet you in there once before, the time when they wouldn't let me into the ground?

Futhermore.... Entry Word: advise Function: verb Text: 1 to give advice to<a popular guidance counselor who has been advising students about their college plans for two decades> Synonyms: counsel, caution, warn; brief, clue (in), fill in, inform, wise (up); coach, direct, lead, guide, instruct, mentor, teach, tutor; acquaint, apprise, familiarize; convince, encourage, induce, persuade, talk (into); beg, exhort, implore, prevail (upon), urge; propose, recommend, suggest

So you've changed the word 'urged' to 'advised' and decided that everyone else is conspiracy theorists and you're level-headed and rational? Hmmmmm.....
-
I'd pretty much agree with every word of that.

I've heard that Hammell was disappointed when the offer from Dundee was turned down as he is not happy under Gannon. It wouldn't surprise me if it was him who urged the young players not to sign new deals.
-
Well, you know the question. What's the answer? Would be good to get a load of 'Well fans in the one place as Aberdeen is pretty spread out.

I'll chip in, but paypal and suchlikes make my brain hurt. If you're going to Aberdeen or the Craigan golf day this weekend then I can meet you to hand over cash, or pm me your address if you'd rather I sent a cheque. Cheers.

I would rather be an ugly git playing for Motherwell with the potential to be a millionaire footballer, than be a devilishly handsome bank worker who's always skint. The latter isn't much fun, I can assure you.

Aye, good point. Make sure if you do take her, you sit in the Cooper!

You did indeed! Well done, sir!

I was only a few months old when my dad had me up at the old club shop under the Main Stand signing me up for the Claret and Amber club. My old man was having the same dillema as yourself and when Tommy McLean was shuffling past, my dad asked him if he thought I was too young. 'They're never too young!' was the immediate response, and if wee Llama TomTom says so then that's good enough for me! Whether or not you have the patience to put up with her at the game could be another matter, right enough....

I think what everyone says about the guys deserving a tribue of some sort is true, but I don't think it's a bad thing for our current team if they don't get one. These young lads have got enough to think about at the moment and I wouldn't want anything to affect their concentration at this crucial time. Besides, the ship has long sailed now anyway.
-
Sounds like they forgot to me....

I am genuinely sorry about that aswell. As I'm sure you appreciate, we did invite you onto the board with the best of intentions.

And I do feel personally guilty for that, Steve, because it was mainly myself who was on here trumpetting that the Trust was worth getting behind. And, to be fair, I still believe that a healthy Supporters Trust is a good thing in general, as has been proven at many clubs across Britain, particularly smaller clubs in England where they've had a real positive impact. However, sadly, it hasn't happened for MFC and for my part in it's failings, I apologise. Hopefully some fresh faces can get on board, resurrect it and help it to fulfill it's potential, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't know when the AGM is, or if it's even been arranged, but if I do find out (which is unlikely, I admit) before you do, then I'll certainly let you know. In terms of who's manning the ship, the remaining board members, to my knowledge are Martin Rose, Andy Ross, Sandra Aird, Jim Frame, Alistair Stewart and John Wilson. I haven't a clue when the last meeting was or what is really happening at all but those are the current board members who should be able to keep you up to speed. I'll answer any questions I can, within reason, but to be honest I really don't know much about what's going on.
-
Since it's been requested that ex-board members pass comment, I will reply, but I'm sure people can appreciate that it wouldn't be fair for me to come on and have a go at the remaining board members. I resigned for a number of reasons - again, it wouldn't be fair while the organisation is still officially running for me to go into them in too much detail - but I really have no idea why the website is down and why members have been getting no communication from them. The AGM should be due around about now so it may be an idea for remaining members to go along and put their questions direct to the people who are best placed to answer them.

Great debut by Ruddy, but becoming less convinced by him as each game passes. Shouldn't have lost the goal on saturday, and was seriously suspect on about half a dozen occasions in Perth. No doubting he's better than Fraser, but I'm not convinced yet that he's an improvement on Buzz. I do like the cut of his gib though - he seems like a maniac and that's no bad thing.
