  1. I take your point, but a manager of a football team has a responsibilty to win the game, not to sell the brand that is football. Football to me is about passion and desire, and that's why I'd rather watch my team win 1-0 in a dire encounter in the pissing rain than watch Barca-Real play out a breathtaking 4-4 draw in a sun-soaked Nou Camp. Maybe that's where the difference lies - I'm in a minority who, while I appreciate good football, am not gripped by watching the Champions League/World Cup/etc unless my team is in it.
  2. I couldn't disagree with that more. A 1-0 'Well win with the ball hitting Sutton on the arse, ricocheting off three divots and rolling over the line is absolutely fine in my book. Aye, winning pretty is better, but winning is the main thing.
  3. At the moment, it looks like Gannons approach to physical teams is to not let them near us/the ball, but we'll never be good enough to play like that. I'd be quite happy if our next signing makes Rambo look like a pansy.
  4. ...Or maybe he knew he was leaving and would rather play guys who he knew were going down south, rather than give our U19s some invaluable experience to stand them in good stead for this season, where they're competing against his team.

Bloody hell. Sad news indeed. Rest in peace.
  6. Melvin Bragg is quite correct. Remember we are Motherwell. We'll be up against it just as much (if not more) than we're on the front foot. Why do you reckon McFadden is regularly on the bench for Scotland, despite clearly being our best player? It's the same reason Maloney doesn't get a game. Luxury players are the type that the fans pay to watch, but if you're not in a position to get the ball to these guys and give them space to play, they're as good as a man down.
  7. A Motherwell legend, in my opinion, is someone who gives exceptional service to the club, and conducts himself in a way that we'd all like to think we would if we were 'Well players. Craigan is the only one who's close to it at the moment, and before him the most recent ones are Clarkson, Uncle Phil and Faddy. Obviously, the three examples there all left us at a fairly early stage in their career, but I think what makes you know they're close to having legendary status is that if you have ever seen any of them in the street, the first thought you have is 'He's one of ours', rather than 'He plays for Scotland/in the Premiership/whatever'.
  8. Jim Gannon phoned me last night and told me exactly how he's going to line up in Perth, what his formation and tactics will be, the full sha-bang. But ah'm still no' tellin' ye, cos ah'm an awkward bastard.

    New Signings

I'll happily go along with that. I could see from where I was that there was dip and swerve on it, but I wasn't sure from the far end whether he should've got it or not.

    New Signings

Humphrey got a couple of in-swingers in with his right foot after the was switched to the left, which is promising but, unfortunately, I just don't rate him at this stage. Coke was excellent last night - MotM for me. If he produces more of the same over the next couple of months, I'd like to see him put on a longer contract. Would need to see the second goal again before deciding if Ruddy was at fault but, that aside, he's looked very competant for us so far, with a couple of excellent stops too.
  11. If Scholes, Giggs, Neville and Hargreaves play, I would say that makes it one of the highest-profile matches to have ever been played at Fir Park, regardless or Rooney, etc. There's also every chance Wes Brown and Michael Owen won't make the England squad. Having just had a look at the International fixtures, South American countries aren't playing which means Anderson, Rafael, Valencia and the other Brazilian (whose name escapes me) would be available, Serbia aren't playing so Vidic and Tosic could play. So, to summarise.... 1. Zieler 2. Neville 3. Brown 4. Rafael 5. Vidic 6. Hargreaves 7. Anderson 8. Scholes 9. Owen 10. Valencia 11. Giggs Not many better line-ups than that been at Fir Park recently!
  12. I'm on the case. Will try to find out what I can and get back to you.
  13. Aye, but the Kampman clear-out came before a ball had been kicked, I'm pretty sure.
  14. Are you sure about that? I thought his last game was against Aberdeen at Fir Park, when McCleish subbed him. I could be wrong though.
  15. Can we get a look at the stuff on here?

    Murphy To Accies ?

I've been called far worse than a Fanny, to be fair. Not offended in the slightest. But I don't really see the point in keeping quiet about a bid that wasn't even worth considerring. I think a bid from FirParkCorner would've been taken more seriously.
  17. I take your point, but if all clubs took that attitude then prices would only go up for everyone, and it would be the ordinary punter like you and I who would suffer. It baffles me that clubs don't reach agreements with each other to recipricate reduced prices like they did a few years back, especially for games which involve a longer journey for away fans.
  18. Aye, let Kilmarnock keep their squirrels, the nutters that they are (See what I did there? )

    Murphy To Accies ?

Or Option 4 - All of the above.
  20. I think losing 3-0 away to Steaua is a better result than losing 1-0 to Dynamo Moscow at home, but unfortunately it is not Motherwell fans the media have to keep happy as it is not us who buys the most newspapers.

    Murphy To Accies ?

Maybe one of us works in an admin department that is responsible for processing the paperwork involved in such a bid? Or maybe one of us is Billy Reid's lovechild?

    Murphy To Accies ?

    @ Muzz. Aye, there has.
