    TheLip69 will be gutted.
  2. The dream will never be over, even if we lose on Thursday. Keep ridin' the rollercoaster, folks. Moan Ra Dossers.

I think that's for the best, Dave. There is no pleasing some people, so at some point you'd be as well to stop trying. You lasted longer than I would have.
  4. I was told by a senior member of staff while I was standing in the queue waiting for my ticket that my passport number would be printed on the ticket and then my passport and ticket would be checked for a match at the ground. Neither of these things happened. Can't honestly remember if they took my passport off me or not, but we were certainly fed bullshit to some extent prior to the Nancy trip.
  5. We were told that for Nancy aswell. Load of cobblers.
  6. Rab McKinnon - why a ginger would ever grow facial hair is beyond me!
  7. On a similar note, has anyone played football at Glasgow Green recently? In the reception they have a big aerial shot of Hampden from (I'm guessing) the mid fifties, and I would swear blind that it's a game involving the 'Well. Can anyone confirm that this is the case, or (even better) specify the game? Also, that bit in front of the Main Stand was open for the cup replay against Dundee Utd in 1994(ish) when Brian Welsh scored the only goal. I was in there, and it was magic!

I don't agree. I think he plays a very disciplined game, and I can see him becoming an important player for us. Players like him (Jamie Dolan, Scott Leitch, etc) won't grab the headlines, but I think he'll be one of those guys we notice more when he's not there. Humphrey, I just don't think is good enough unfortunately, but he is young and could become a better player but at the moment he'd be on the bench for me, maybe giving us the last ten minutes if we're under the cosh and looking for an out-ball for a breakaway. Other than that, no.
  9. Nobody said it was deliberate, to be fair.
  10. LobeyD is spot-on. In my opinion, Craigan is by far the best defender at the club, and has been for a few seasons now. Last night he made a bad mistake, but what player hasn't? But just for the sake of interest, can any stattos tell us how many OGs he has scored? And is it as many as Softie?

SteveDiggle, bringing sense and reason to the topic as per usual. Spot on, my man.

It goes without saying that they'll get my support. I don't rate Humphrey at the moment (was at fault for 2nd goal last night) as he can't seem to beat the first man with a cross and if you're a winger and you can't look good when your team's winning 8-1, when can you? Having said that, I hope he proves me wrong and I'll be quite happy to have this thread cast up when he's turned into a 'Well legend. As far the Old Firm comment - jog on, peddlar...

Ruddy - He'll dae. Humphrey - He'll no' dae. Coke - Still undecided. Reckon he looks like a decent SPL player, but not yet convinced that he's better than what we already had. Jennings - I reckon he'll be a great asset, but think he needs to sharpen up. Has looked a wee bit off the pace at times. So, overall I'd say the jury is still very much out on Gannon as far as signings go, but I'm keeping the faith. Anyone else got any thoughts?
  14. I don't think I did single out the SS, to be fair. I mentioned them because the thread is about them. I really don't have a problem with casuals. If folk want to fight with each other, that's fine by me, but the majority of incidents I've seen in or around football grounds involving people wearing no colours, to my mind, have been wee neds hanging on the coat-tails of what was a respected and feared firm. I don't for a second think that any of the original or 'real' SS boys would wander about attacking randoms, but sometimes idiots will do, and their name gets dragged through the mud as a result.
  15. No, you wouldn't be wrong.

Not quite. More 4 of the team from a couple of years later which, if anything, makes it worse.

Had heard he had hanged himself aswell, but didn't want to be the one who put it on the forums. Always makes the situation worse for those left behind. A real tragedy.
  18. I think what you all say about the casual movement in the 70s and 80s is genuinely all well and good, but sadly the romanticised tales of yore from older guys like yourselves has given justification to young thugs to cause bother under an 'acceptable' cause. Same sort of mindset as Old Firm yobs fighting and justifying it with the Republican/Loyalist shite. Being a 'Well fan who has only been going to away games in the 90s and 00s, the vast majority of violence around the 'SS' has been Motherwell thugs wanting a scrap with people who don't. Nancy is the most recent example, but there's plenty more. In that respect it's a shame for the guys who started the SS, and even the folk who continue it now, who do subscribe to the mindset laid out in MJs book, as there is a plethora of neds who cause bother under their title.

Just occurred to me that four of the starting XI when I was mascot (about 1993) are no longer with us. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a long time ago and really makes you think about things.

Bloody hell. Shocking news. I'm seriously beginning to wonder if we're cursed. Rest in peace, Mowgli.
  21. Because some people are stupid. It's like a boy in our team who has every make and colour of football boot for every occasion, having spent an absolute fortune over the years because he thinks it makes him a better player... ....he's fuckin' murder.
