  1. If you think it was the No Means No! campaign that it made the Cooper be given back to its rightful occupants, then you're off your nut. Frazzle
  2. You might damage that one. Best to buy a couple, just to be sure. Frazzle

Where did I say anything about deliberate? All I said was that it's convenient, which can't be denied. I don't grudge the club any extra money - quite the opposite in fact, and I almost always buy both home and away shirts - and I probably will again this time round. What I'll also say is that, while the fans charter has been largely ignored over the last few years, I feel that the current regime, and Leann Dempster in particular, have been excellent in their communication and consultation with the fans so far. Rome wasn't built in a day, but I'm very happy with the way things seem to be going off the park at the moment. So - does that post make me sound like less of a conspiracy theorist? Frazzle

It will definitely be another one-season strip as the Jaxx deal is up, quite conveniently. The fans charter has been disregarded once again. Frazzle
  5. Very interesting read. One thing that makes me scoff a bit though is the following: "There are no notes in the accounts suggesting any of the directors took money out of the club since 2002. Whether this is for the love of the club, or the embarrassment of having taken the club into administration isn't clear. Dundee United currently has the same policy and if this can all be taken at face value then it shows a great love for the clubs involved." Another thing - who did we pay £2k for in 2007? It's also disappointing that John Boyle has a £1.2m long-term loan that he is charging the club 5% on. I suppose we can't really blame him for that but disappointing nonetheless. Sixty grand per year could be the equivalent of a first team player for us. But that is a great site. Could easily spend hours on it. Frazzle

Can you tell us how many sleeves it will have? Throw us a bone here - this marketting ploy has whipped us up into a frenzy! Frazzle
  7. We'll beat St Mirren if we need to, I think. It really comes down to Ibrox on saturday. I'd say we're at a slight advantage in that respect because Rangers are in a bit of a mess just now and have a game tonight. Also, us having St Mirren at home and Hibs having them away could help us. I can see us pipping them for the top six, but it would take a mammoth effort once we get there to make Europe. Frazzle

I've just left Jack Daniels, phoned the Rex for a pizza. Will go and pick it up, go home and eat it. Later I will watch Casualty. Later again I will go to bed. More updates later. Frazzle

  12. I was on the train going from Rutherglen to Glasgow a couple of months ago, and the Motherwell youth (dunno what age-group) team were in the same carriage as me. They were nothing but a shower of jumped-up wee neds, and it was particularly bad that they were annoying all the passengers on the train while wearing their MFC tracksuits. Frazzle

Well, sort of, yes. As another thread recently touched upon on here, most 'Well fans are such because it's in their family - in their blood. I'm not a 'Well fan because the team was magnificent in the late eighties, or even because of the cup win in 1991. I'm a 'Well fan because of everything the club stands for, and has stood for over generations and because my father, and my fathers father stood on the terraces before I did. So, in that respect, what's gone before us is hugely significant towards what we've become, both as people and as a football club, and I think that should be respected and carried on as much as possible. Or is that just a load of sentimental pish? Frazzle

To be fair, on the designs that were posted earlier in this thread, I don't like them either, but that doesn't mean that I won't ever like anything Canterbury ever produce, and it certainly doesn't mean that I won't like the new 'Well strip. Frazzle

He doesn't like next seasons Motherwell (football) strip (that he's never clapped eyes on!) because he doesn't like last seasons Scotland (rugby) strip. Different sport, different seasons range, different colours.... Aye, perfect logic right enough! Frazzle

I'm quite comfortable with people with opinions. That's what football's all about afterall. I find it bemusing that, particularly with the Trust and now with the new strip, you passionately criticise something you are completely ignorant about. In fairness, it just seems that you don't know much about the Trust - you could, in fact, be an expert going to a conscious effort to look ignorant. However, there is absolutely no doubt that you know nothing about the new Motherwell strip, yet you're already sticking the boot in and declaring that you won't be buying it. It doesn't make sense to me. Frazzle

Change the black to claret and the tangerine to amber, and that would probably be our best-selling away strip ever. Frazzle

Surely if the buses aren't free, you'd be as well going on one you can get a wee bevvy on and a bit of atmosphere, no? Frazzle
  21. There are too many players in the Scotland squad that aren't anywhere near the required standard and, sadly, Clarkson is one of them. Don't get me wrong - I'm a fan of Clarkson, but all he is is a decent SPL striker whose main asset is his workrate. That's great for Motherwell, but in the not-too-distant past, a player of his ilk wouldn't have got a look-in. It also doesn't help that the manager has zero charisma and the guy charged with motivating the Scotland team to play for the lion rampant on their chest is English. Frazzle
  22. That was very thoughtful of them. It's a shame that the 'Well fans never made a similar gesture. Given that Dolans family isn't as well off as Phil O'Donnells, I don't think it would be inappropriate to give it to Jamies family. Just my opinion though. Frazzle
  23. The Motherwell Supporters Trust would like to take this opportunity to express our support to our Dunfermline colleagues with their recent statement regarding safe standing areas. While we appreciate the health and safety concerns surrounding a standing area, we feel that this could be easily vetted and policed in most Scottish grounds. We are also believe that the initial expense of creating such a section in the stadium would be offset by an increase in attendance and low maintenance costs. In recent years, the increase in ticket prices and the growing number of televised matches has led to both reduced attendances and a significant decline in atmosphere. We urge clubs to consider safe standing areas as a way of greatly enhancing the matchday experience for supporters. The Motherwell Supporters Trust would also reassure Motherwell FC that we would be happy to assist wherever necessary if this idea was to be considered, and would be absolutely delighted if our club was to be the first in the SPL to attempt such a step.
  24. Pretty standard story from me. My dad was always a 'Well fan, in a family mixed between Dossers and h**s, and he made damn sure I knew exactly what I was before I went to school. The first place I lived was Cleland - my mum was Catholic and my dad was Prodestant - and the small town mentality is still alive and well and my dad often got a bit of hassle when he went for a quiet pint in the local pub, so I think that added to the determination on both my parents' parts that I wouldn't grow up to be someone of that mindset, regardless of what type of school they chose to send me to. I think that's why I strongly feel that being a Dosser isn't just about what colour scarf you wear to the football - it's a mindset and a way of life. I also live safe in the knowledge that however well (or otherwise) MFC do over the years ahead, we will always, ALWAYS, be better than them. Frazzle

I hope you're right Steve. And I also hope that Alan Provan reads this site and makes them put a hoop on it! The thing is, it's a bit like Colin making JDs a Motherwell pub. If they're going to pay a bit extra to manufacture what we want, we'll need to buy it in our droves to make it worth their while or they won't do it again. As much as it makes me feel like a wee boy, I'm quite looking forward to getting a wee preview of the new strip. I couldn't give a monkeys about Canterbury, but 'Flow has built up the suspense well. Frazzle PS - It better not be gantin'!!
