I think the manufacturer presents the club with a few options and they pick one. I can mind a few unique items kicking about the bargain bin a few years back that Xara had presented but had been declined. Always rued the missed opportunity of not snapping one of them up. Frazzle

I don't think it's really Canterbury's fault that shirts (in rugby, football and everything else) lack the class they once had. Motherwell have committed to having a sponsor on both the front and back of the jerseys, so even if Canterbury produce an effort with the hoop all the way round, a proper collar and everything else that everyone wants, it will still struggle to stand up beside the efforts from the 50s and 70s when it's been bastardised with logos and brand names. Aberdeen could send out their U19s if we play like that again. Goalie and two centre halves got pass-marks. Hughes was the best of the rest. Everyone else, without exception, was pish. Frazzle

I'm sure he's never heard of you either. Frazzle

It wasn't 36 years ago - we wore a hoop all the way round in (I think) 1995-ish. Motorola sponsored it, Pony made it and guys like Tommy Coyne, Dougie Arnott, etc wore it. It wasn't the broad effort we had in the fifties, of course, but it did go all the way round. It had a wee thin one above and below it aswell to make it modern to the time. Was a decent strip. Much better than most that have followed it since. Frazzle

Nah, I'm pretty certain the beaten finalists will get the spot. If Aberdeen finish fifth and have obviously now lost a semi final to Pars, they'll be sickened, especially after last season! Here's hoping we nab fourth! Frazzle

With the furry dice shown to indicate where your bollox would hang if you just had the top on with nowt else... Frazzle

I agree. Buy up every copy of whatever paper that's from and delete this thread immediately. Frazzle

I think we should bench him for the rest of the season so everyone thinks he's pish. Frazzle

Christ, I wish I never said anything now! I was just saying something that I remembered from the past that seemed relevant. For what it's worth, I wouldn't like that for the new 'Well strip - I think it would look awful. I also think it would be better if they announced it before selling season tickets then changing the strip (ie, meaning a new strip at Xmas rather than for the start of the campaign) as it might get an extra few people buying the tickets. If we're going to be incorporating names into the shirt, I think it might be better if we had a Hall of Fame and used their names. I'd be put off buying a strip if it had Malcolm Boyd, Ross Mitchell, Philip Speedie, etc amblazoned across it. Frazzle

The first player I remember liking was Johnny Gahagan when I was a nipper, but as I grew up it was always Dougie Arnott. I reckon any youngster starting out just now will love Klimpl though. Frazzle

I seem to remember Alaves having the names of all their season ticket holders stitched into their shirt when they played Liverpool in the UEFA Cup final. I could well be talking pish though! Frazzle

I'm away to vomit now.... Frazzle PS - Did there not used to be a wee spewy face guy? Or did I imagine that?

Still not tempted! Frazzle

There's no way I'm clicking on something advertised as "Syd's Column" when I'm at work.... Frazzle

To be fair, it's also the only SPL game live on TV, so it damn well should be the cheapest. I actually think that in the standard ticket price list, where it shows £x for category A, £y for category B, etc should state that games outside category A which are live on TV are subject to a 50% discount. There was something along those lines with two or three teams a few years, but I think you're thinking about John Boyle's comments post-Old Firm ticket fiasco, when he said that he would be looking for them to reciprocate. Never happened though. To be honest, it's unfortunate that Setanta announce their games as they go along as it would have allowed the prices to have been slashed for both matches, but when we had the game on the Monday at Fir Park, we weren't to know that this one would be on Setanta aswell. OK, I'll send another letter, insisiting that Jim Jeffries fires three up front! And if that happens, you all must surely join the Trust! Frazzle

Thanks to Motherwell_Fan for bringing this matter to the attention of the MST. Ideally, this letter will see Kilmarnock reducing our prices accordingly for saturday. If not, it should at least have an impact on their pricing structure for next season. Fingers crossed.... Hi Kirsten , I am contacting you on behalf of the Motherwell Supporters Trust regarding the pricing structure for Saturday's SPL game between Kilmarnock and Motherwell. From our understanding of the information on your own and the Motherwell FC website the prices for the game are as follows. Moffat stand(home) £15 adults £10 over 65, under 18, student £5 under 16 Chadwick stand(away) £20 adults £14 over 65, under 18, student £5 under 12 It is also our understanding that rule C14.6.1 within the SPL Handbook mentions that comparative prices should be charged for comparative facilities. As both the Moffat and Chadwick Stands are almost identical in structure and are both behind the goals , shouldn't it be the case that the prices for both stands should be the same? A number of Motherwell fans have expressed their grievances regarding this issue and with that game being shown live on television it is a worry that a number of people may choose to watch what is a huge game for both clubs on the television , rather than travelling to Rugby Park. I hope this email has been sent in the right direction , if not could you please forward it to the relevant personnel? Regards Motherwell Supporters Trust I will post up any response we receive as soon as we get it. Frazzle

Worst case scenario is that they were both feeding us lies - I wouldn't be absolutely stunned. Have certainly come to expect it from Stillie, but would be disappointed in Boyle, given how frank and (seemingly) honest he was being when we met. Frazzle

I think fatcalf is right. Not only about the pies, but about the prices for comparitave facilities. Certainly that is what Mr. Boyle, and Mr. Stillie both told the Trust on seperate occasions. I will pass the details of this onto the Trust board and see what can be done. Hopefully we find that Kilmarnock are pulling a fast one and we'll get the prices cut. Short notice, but you never know. I think the results this weekend will have a massive bearing on the race for the Top Six/Europe. But then I said that last week, and will probably say so again next week. Frazzle

Glad to hear the auld dear's fine. On the Safe Standing Section idea, it was mentioned by us at the meeting with the Match Commander et al, but we would need a wholesale change in the laws of the land and the Taylor Report to be scrapped before that could happen. As much as I'd like to think I'm ambitious, I think that is something that is beyond an organisation with half a dozen active members. Frazzle
