  1. There's no way whatsoever that I'd support the Phil O'Donnell Memorial money being put anywhere other than where it was originally intended. As well as taking a bit of personal pride in the venture and not wanting to see it going to waste, I'd also feel as though I'd misled people and I'm not allowing that to be the case. With regards to the Pitch In! fund, the club are fully aware that those monies are there for them, as and when they find a suitable purpose. It was ear-marked for a new disabled enclosure, but that doesn't seem to be happening anymore. Frazzle
  2. I am pretty sure I will never be disappointed by the thoughts and actions of Old Firm fans, as my opinion of them is about as low as it could be anyway, but I am hugely disappointed in Strathclyde Police after this game. When the Trust met with the Match Commander, I asked if it would be possible for their fans to be kept back after the match, explained why this should be so and he agreed with me. And then nothing. Having said that, the 'Well boys have broken all the promises they made that night aswell so it seems like the meeting was nothing more than a well-intentioned waste of time. Frazzle
  3. Yep, smashing night. The two speakers were my main concern with the lack of Motherwell connection, but I think it's fair to say they both done us proud. And I've got my John Gahagan trophy so I'm well pleased! A big thanks from me to everyone who helped make it a success - Keith & Sandra from the MST board, the two speakers, Tam Cowan of course, and everyone at the Hilton (which exceeded my expectations I must say). 4. ...except the Johnny Gahagan trophy - that's mine. Frazzle
  5. Never rated him to be honest, but too early to tell. I think it's wise to leave him out because if he is potentially the next big thing, we don't want to burn him out like we did with Clarky. Frazzle

    Goals

Clarky was utter gash last night, and with him off-form it was only ever going to end 'Motherwell Nil'. Last season, we had three strikers who scored well into double figures and that compensated for a midfield that produces hee-haw. If Clarkson stays off the boil, or if he picks up an injury, where are the goals going to come from? It's a scandal that a first team squad that contains midfielders such as Fitzpatrick, Hughes, Lasley, Smith, McGarry, Klimpl and Malcolm, we can't hope for more than a couple of goals a season from any of them. The vast majority of teams we're competing with have at least one goalscoring midfielder like Kingston, Dornan, Rankin, Imrie, etc or even centre-backs that can chip in from set pieces like Wilkie, Jones, etc but we literally have no-one. The last three games against St. Mirren, as well as the league games against Hibs and Falkirk would all have been won in my opinion if we had that someone to get into the right place at the right time, or even to hit a shot from outside the box. But it's just not happening. Sort it out, McGhee! Rant over. Frazzle
  7. Aye, I know what you're saying, but my opinion is that it's the two issues (PC madness and removal of civil liberties/big brother state, etc) is a result of the same school of thought. I think we agree with each other on the state of the world - just a debate on definition I suppose. Frazzle
  8. I think it all goes hand in hand, Malky. It's the modern culture to sue everyone or look for compensation and that encompasses ridiculous claims of everyone being something-ist when a person of a minority group doesn't get what they want. To me, that mindset has grown legs and that's what's led to crazy rules everywhere. The fun is being slowly squeezed out of the world with masses of disclaimers and everyone carefully choosing their words before the speak, shout or type for fear of reprisal. Nobody likes it, or agrees with it, but it doesn't matter because the minority of jobsworth pen-pushers have all the power. Frazzle PS - Are we still talking about fitba'?
  9. I think you're right fatcalf, but I don't think that if even if every single Motherwell fan decided to stand at the next home game and refused to sit down no matter what that it would solve the problem. It either needs all the wee teams like ourselves to make a stand (no pun intended) or for bigger clubs to get involved. If we take it on as one group of supporters, we'd be massacred - loads of fans banned from the stadium, MFC hit with fines/point deductions, etc and that would help nobody. If I thought that enough 'Well fans felt the same about it, I would contact other Supporters Trusts to get a campaign started, but the 'protests' that went on during the Malpas season seems to suggest that not enough 'Well fans care enough about it for us to be able to make a difference. 10. To be fair, 'bouncing' in a hastily-arranged, unsuitable seating area like the East Stand probaby is dangerous. The amount of cuts and bruises I've had from jumping about in there over the years couldn't be counted and I'm quite happy in the knowledge that if I want to behave in such a way, that's the risk I take. However, the 'Well boys (and fans in general) have a lot of minors in their number and if they do themselves an injury, their parents could attempt legal action against our club. A load of pish, I know, but that's the world we live in now. I'm sure fatcalf will confirm with the WTFC, amateur football is sufferring with the same sort of nonsense, as teams have to have insurance nowadays, even though any player would tell you that the risk of injury is something you should factor in to your decision of pulling on a pair of boots. A bit of a tangent there, but my point is that MFC, and their stewards, are bound by the ridiculous rules that have been forced on them by the PC madness that is gripping the world, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. However, I do agree that there is a jobsworth element to the police and stewards present in the stadium - that's the only issue that can be eradicated. Frazzle
  11. If they need to run the finances tightly and make tough decisions, then they need to cut the deadwood from the staff, both on and off the field. The amount of incompetence and questionable attitudes that go unpunished from folk in the club is ridiculous. And do away with the long-running but completely unjustifiable gravy train that exists for the cronies 'upstairs' aswell. Frazzle
  12. If everyone knows, why don't you just tell us? Frazzle
  13. That's right, and that was on a cold Wednesday night, and it was Haloween, so we had a decent turnout that night. We could've sold out every seat in the home end that night, but the attendance would've been announced as 8000 and we'd still have had it taken back off us. Frazzle
  14. I've personally got designs on Johnny Gahagans Greatest 'Well team No7 Trophy. The Davie Moyes prize is a belter but it will be well out of my price range. Frazzle
  15. We had a meeting with a few folk, including two head stewards, not too long ago and they are very keen on building a relationship with the supporters through the Trust. At the end of the day, I'm sure the stewards (on the whole) would rather stand up the back and casually have a blether with the fans in row R while the game's being played than become involved in aggro with supporters. However, they are all fed instructions by people who pick things up on camera and would get their jotters if they didn't do what they're told. It's also difficult for the club to monitor the individual stewards as a lot of them are casual or agency staff. I believe there is now measures in place to remedy this and from next season we should see an improvement, but we've been told to pass on any concerns about the conduct of individual stewards in the meantime and they'll be dealt with. So if anyone has anything that they would like the Trust to report or get feedback on, please let us know. Frazzle

You'd be better in JDs probably, to be honest. More space, and more to keep him entertained. Frazzle
  18. Get the bus and go for a derby day swally in JDs!! Frazzle
  19. Tommy Sheridan was on the books at the 'Well for a bit as a youngster, but he's definitely one of 'them'. Still a good guy though. Frazzle
  20. Aye, we were. I think that if it's a reasonable request, teams should go along with it, but wouldn't say they were under any obligation. I don't think St. Mirren (or Aberdeen for that matter) can complain too much about it. Frazzle
  21. What about Terry Christian after bigging us up on Big Brother? Frazzle
  22. I still wear that T-shirt as my bottom layer at the colder games sometimes - it's a good bit more snug now than it was back then, mind you... Frazzle
  23. To be fair, I think the key point there is that ICT and Killie agreed to refund fans, but we don't know whether it was Motherwell or Inverurie who didn't want to do the refunds for our game. Given that it was only our fans who were affected, and it's their club who needs the money more, I'm happy to give the benefit of the doubt and say it was Inverurie who refused. The mis-communication by Motherwell can't be defended, though. Frazzle
  24. I suppose we can call them anything we like, but if we have a reserve league it means to having a commitment to fulfill fixtures which means often unneccesary inconvenience and travelling costs. For bringing folk back from injury (which I don't think happened once last season) and trialists, it's much better to just phone Albion Rovers or someone and throw a set of goals up at Dalziel Park. Frazzle
  25. It's easy enough to arrange bounce games these days for folk coming back from injury and trialists. I don't think those uncommon scenarios justifies a weekly match and full league of fixtures. Frazzle
