  1. Good news though. If that money wasn't bugetted for, it would be nice to see it passed straight onto McGhee for the transfer window. Frazzle
  2. I think you're developing a wee chip on your shoulder now, Andy. I don't think it's anything to do with it being an SPL team playing a HL league team- when we had pitch troubles last winter, our inspections when we were playing a team like Inverness were considerably earlier than when we were hosting another team from the central belt. That's just life. I'm sure if you were half way to Motherwell for a replayed midweek, possibly having taken a day off work, you'd be pissed off to find out you had wasted your time. Frazzle
  3. I think he's been spot-on in that interview. I think the battle-cry about as catching Utd, etc was to give the players belief before what could be described as the most difficult trip in the SPL. It obviously done the job as we romped it 4-0. I think todays comments may be more to stop the fans getting carried away and expecting too much. Most teams, over the course of a season, have a sticky patch. Aberdeen had their at the start, we had ours during November/December, Hibs had their, so we're coming into a bit of form going into the business end of the season and, regardless of how well we do, if Hearts and Dundee Utd remain consistent for the rest of the season, they deserve the Euro slots. However, Hearts are always liable to implode at any time and we've just shown that we don't have anything to fear from Utd. So, in short- I don't expect third, or even fourth, but there's every chance that 5th could do it and the cup's shaping up nicely for us aswell. I'm quite positive. Frazzle
  4. It will be rescheduled for the Wednesday in the event of a postponement or a draw. Yaaas - I'm a ledge! Frazzle
  5. I'm probably the only 'Well fan who hopes it doesn't get played on the same day as the 5th round ties. It's the in-laws Wedding Anniversary that day and, while I can make the 5th round game at Fir Park, a trip to Inverurie would be out of the question. Need to get this played next week. I'd be gutted if I bought the 2009 Scottish Cup winning DVD and couldn't boast of being at every game in the run. I had an excuse last time (being five at the time) but not this time! Frazzle
  6. I think it's Monday then Wednesday, either for a postponement or a replay. I'll still be there, but my work are starting to think I'm taking the piss. I'm not happy, in a bit of a mood if I'm honest, but I know it can't be helped. Frazzle
  7. 10am I'm told. Either way, plenty of time. Got to be thankful for that I suppose. Frazzke
  8. Seemingly the pitch is frozen at the moment and, as I type, there is no covers on it and nobody working on it. I've now almost given up hope. Any word on a rough time for the inspection? Frazzle
  9. Quite like the idea of seeing Fraser on the back of a 'Well top. Would rather it was an outfield player though. Frazzle
  10. I absolutely agree - it would be the worst result in our history if we fail to win in Inverurie. However, in football, especially in the conditions that we're likely to be playing in, anything could happen. I wouldn't go as far as to say I was worried, but I'm not going to be smug in advance. Frazzle
  11. I would take a 1-0 win right now, no problem. The Utd game means hee-haw in terms of this one. In fact, nothing does. Our pampered pros travelling up there to play on a wee tight pitch, probably in heavy wind and rain, against a team of hardened Highlanders playing in the biggest game of their lives? Might not be as easy as we think. However, I thought we'd lose yesterday so that shows what I know! Frazzle
  12. If they do ask the 'Well back next year, whoever makes the decision should make them sweat a bit. I've never been but surely if Motherwell always bring a big crowd then it would make financial sense to keep us in? Or are the fans more bother than they're worth from a stewarding point of view? Not having a dig - just asking the question... Frazzle
  13. Is there any word on a pitch inspection scheduled? I've taken two half days (finishing at noon on Wednesday and starting at noon on Thursday) so if it's called off at 10am then I could work on and be fine for the re-arranged game. Frazzle
  14. If anyone has any contact details for any of these guys, please drop me an email or a pm with them. Would be much appreciated. Frazzle
  15. Nah, he was ill last week but back on the phone-in now. Seemingly he ditched us as he had double-booked with a Dundee Utd event up there. Frazzle
  16. A bit of bloody electrical tape would have done! Frazzle
  17. Fair do's - No excuses next week! :-p Frazzle
  18. You were given eight! Away ye go n bile yer heid! Frazzle
  19. The Motherwell Supporters Trust have demanded that the club change the season ticket board at the Cooper Stand to ensure that everyone knows what page of their season ticket books is needed. Frazzle PS - Did I get anyone going there?
  20. Motherwell are NEVER worth lumping serious cash on... Frazzle
  21. Hard to say. We've been in touch with an agent who's on the case. Tam Cowan is doing the intro, and Johnny Gahagan is speaking, so that's a good start. Alan Rough did say that he didn't think that we'd have any problem getting another speaker as people would be keen to work with JG as he won the Scottish Sports Speakers award or something like that last year. So, basically, fingers crossed! Frazzle
  22. I thought this could perhaps merit a new thread - probably should've done it sooner as it's not fair on the Wellboys that the original one got sidetracked. The first hour or so of the meeting was spent discussing the Sportsmans Dinner that is planned for February 21st at the Bellshill Hilton which is for the Phil O'Donnell Memorial Fund, but is being organised by the Trust. I re-iterate that every penny raised will go towards the memorial to Phil, and this has never been in question. The main stumbling block on this at the moment, if anyone is interested, is that our 2nd speaker, Alan Rough, has pulled out so we are frantically trying to find a replacement before printing tickets. If we don't have a confirmed name by the weekend we will go to print with Johnny Gahagan listed as 'Main Speaker'. We also discussed advertising the events and press releases, as well as mailshots to businesses associated with Motherwell FC. The next point of discussion was 'Flows suggestion of merging the two main accounts held (The Pitch In fund & The Share fund). This was agreed in principle, providing that John Boyle would be willing to put in writing the present verbal agreement of releasing shares to the Trust to the value of our contributions to the club. 'Flows other concern regarding the minutes of some of the previous meetings not being on the website has been acknowledged and will be sorted ASAP. Probably the most significant point of the meeting was the revision of the mission statement. It was agreed that a new statement would be revised, posted to the board mailing list for approval, the various tweaks made and then released. It was also agreed to have an extra meeting w/c 26/1 to catalogue a series of aims and events for 2009 based on said Mission Statement. Both the Mission Statement and the calendar of aims and events would be made public and, if there is still an adequate number of concerns from members, we would hold an open board meeting, where all members would be welcome to come along and pitch any questions to any board member about anything they like. This suggestion was made in response to the accusation of us being a closed shop and we are very keen to move away from that. The final point that came up was the re-branding. Speedie presented his proposal of a new logo for the organisation, which was largely approved and I must say that it is much more modern than the current one. When the logo is finalised, the website relaunched, etc - there will be a bit of an advertising and promotion campaign to try to drive membership numbers up. We have also been granted approval for a regular page in the programme so I'm pretty sure a time will come when you'll be sick of the sight of us, but you've only all got yourselves to blame! :-) I would say that's the bulk of what I can remember off the top of my head. If anyone has any further questions, fire them in here and I'll answer them as well as I can. However, this is probably the longest post I've ever made so I'm away for a lie down first... Frazzle PS- Official minutes of the meeting will be available in due course - that is not what this is.
  23. Just playing devils advocate here, but why should we consider Angus and Ferguson legends? Yeah, they scored in a game we all remember fondly, but so has Shaun Fagan and Marc Fitzpatrick. Had we not won the Cup in 1991, there's a few guys in that particular squad who would be considerred no more than journeymen. Frazzle
  24. I take your point - I was just being pedantic. However, I genuinely didn't have to look it up. Feel free to ask me the next time you see me! With regards to the legendary status, if Kaiser is in that list above, then so must guys like John Philliben be - at which point I think you open up a big bag of worms. I think it's impossible to make such a list. Frazzle
