Bit of a strange one for me. He was very firmly on my "cannon list" a few months back but strangely has come on to a game since the manager that signed him left. As someone else said he has made right back his own when previously he was being shunted about a bit that wouldn't have helped.

Clearly a GIRUY gesture for knocking back the proposal, and one I am fully in support of.
-
Just seen a few photos there- looked a lot better than I felt like it did at the time (if that makes sense).
-
Because Accies are a shambles of s club and it's pretty difficult to get into the stadium sharpish. Also we sit above the level of the pitch so I'd suggest it's more difficult for the players to see it. Just my thoughts- could be wrong. Least of our worries anyway.

He might not be a great manager but he is an environmentalist. Think of the cardboard you'd have wasted if he'd kept our faint hopes alive.
-
Poor choice of game for it, but couldn't be helped.

I'll be at every game for the rest of the season regardless. In my mind we are now relegated, which is when you need your diehards the most, so to risk pissing them off for the remaining games by letting people who didn't fancy it for the first 30 odd games in for a tenner would be a terrible move. Keep the pricing as it is, treat the next four games as pre-season friendlies and try to get it right for the play-off.

She's clearly furious. You know what burds are like.

When we all started sitting together, there was about a dozen of us that bought our season tickets together. Now you can count on one hand who is in our group most of the time. Three moved abroad, a couple started jobs that work some Saturdays, a couple got bored of our tedious chat and now sit elsewhere and one is now the tannoy guy. It's grim times.

I meant an SPFL title charge obviously. You are sooooooooooo negative! #superfan
-
Aye, best keep him for next seasons title charge....
-
That's always been my understanding, that their wages reduced every season. I'm sure it was Craig Brown I heard saying that, although he was later found to be a dirty lying scoundrel so you could be right and it could be a load of tosh.
-
There's no doubt about that. We tanned them a month ago.

I appreciate the sentiment but for me that game was at Firhill last week...

I don't know how to quote different parts so apologies... 1. Definitely not hindsight. I'm sure you'll find posts on here from myself and others saying it was mental. Lasley and Hammell have been signing one year deals on slightly reduced terms for a few seasons now and there was no reason to change that. I've been saying for years that a simple rule of thumb would have been 3 year deals for anyone 30 rather than just two year deals for every bugger. 2. Of course I'm worrying about things I can't control- that's what being a football fan is. We all do it every time a ball is crossed into the Motherwell box.

I'd rather we weren't on a Friday first. I felt like us playing before County last week didn't help us. I have absolutely fuck all to back that up though!
-
I actually don't think we'll take anywhere near the numbers quoted to this. It's a terrible place to watch football, it's live on telly and recent trips have been among the worst experiences any of us have ever had at matches. Seriously swithering at this point.
-
Nah, you don't need to be Mystic Meg to predict people's reactions on here. My point at the beginning was that there would be a dismissive statement made with no specifics to ease my mind. To back up your point, I was looking for a reassurance in terms of how that cloth can be cut without catastrophic consequences. If we'd given Hammell, Lasley and McManus one year deals at the start of this season like any sensible person would have, you could have pointed out that we could cut McManus loose and offer the other two vastly reduced terms, for example. However, I genuinely can't think of where any reassurances are coming from. We can debate the football and social side of it all day long, and you might even talk me round to enjoying a wee stint down there, but my ultimate concern is how we'll balance the books, and we've seen too many examples in recent times of what can happen to clubs that fail to do that.

They've had the h**s playing on the same day as Scotland this season already I think.

Going back to the original point, it's getting a bit more rational now. I didn't for a second suggest there wasn't a silver lining- anyone who knows me will realise that I'd be all over day trips to strange places and the thought of a title party at Fir Park (or even a Petrofac Cup win) is mouth-watering! However, as much as I acknowledge the silver lining, I'm not disregarding the fucking huge cloud. The fact that I said folk would come on and use the blanket "cut our cloth" line then Sparra did exactly that is quite amusing. I was looking for some facts or logic- we can all trot out cliches- and the post from weeyin was the closest that anyone preaching positivity came to that. I hope the parachute payment still exists.

A few points to consider that seem to have been overlooked/ignored.... 1. When a club goes down, other than a genuinely "big" club, there is almost always very real consequences for the on and off field staff, be it redundancies, wage reductions, etc- that's very serious repercussions for ordinary people trying to put food on their table, hence my frustration at the "so what?" and "unfortunate change in the clubs circumstances" chat that's being peddled. 2. Les has said publicly that his five year plan does not involve Motherwell playing out with the top division. While I don't think this means he'll walk away as soon as we're down, I get the impression people are running on the assumption that he's going to bankroll a charge back up to the SPFL which I am certainly not banking on him doing when we are likely seven figures in his debt already. 3. A brief flick through the clubs (recent) historic accounts will confirm that Fir Park is costing us fairly significant sums each year and is at least part of the reason we have been posting losses almost annually despite European campaigns and regular player sales. As much as it's frustrating to get £200k/£300k for players that have been doing well at the top end of the top league, these are still figures we won't be able to command for players who are only cutting it against Dumbarton and Alloa. When you add in the lack of TV deal, reduced attendances and everything else that goes with the drop then it is very, very realistic that this could be a slippery slope with hard-felt affects across our whole community so you'll forgive me for being a bit glum about it. Now I am fully aware that people with their heads buried in the sand will blanket respond to this with the killer phrase "cut our cloth accordingly" but with a crumbling stadium, newly acquired debt and three of our most senior players commanding SPL captains wages for at least another season, where will these cuts come from that won't leave us either unable to compete in a very difficult division or even unable to survive on a full time basis?

Honestly, the "holier than thou" happy clappy attitude from some folk on here does my tits right in. Being relegated is just about the single biggest footballing disaster that can happen to any club anywhere and the hipster brigade of fantastic fans relishing day trips to wee middens is getting right on my nerves.

You know that doesn't mean it's in our hands, don't you?
