I'm sure I heard something a while back about the level of compensation paid for a player being based on the contract that his existing club offer him. Maybe we are trying to be cute here, waiting to see what contract he is offered elsewhere and then offer him slightly less, thus losing the player for the maximum fee.

I might be wrong, having never used any of the discounts, but surely you would just show your membership card when making your purchase. I can't imagine all of the retailers have a constantly updated list of eligible members.

To be honest, it seems to me like the team is being set up to play without Higdon which is fair enough and understandable but pretty gutting in it's own way. Whoever comes in, McHugh will have to step up and properly force his way into the team this season as I think this is his last chance before having to drop down a division or two. I also hope that we use Carswell sensibly this season in terms of game time so that he is ready to step right in to Lasleys role when he retires.

If he gives us a glorious season then leaves for money at the end of it, that'll be fine.

Let's not make a Stevie Hammell tribute thread turn into a collection of tales about some horrible Shellic c**t who played for us once.

Nothing too headline worthy but when he was asked about what he'd won in his career since he left Motherwell he said "A lot more than youse anyway." which does seem petty but in front of an audience of 'Well fans who had voted for him I found it disrespectful. It's very important to me how former / departing players speak about our club.

Tom Boyd going to Celtic is a bit annoying but on its own doesn't deserve him to be chastised. However, he turned up at Fir Park for the 10th anniversary game with a Celtic jacket on, and then what he said to Tam Cowan while receiving the honour of being voted our best ever captain ended any goodwill I had for him. Petty? Yep. Bitter? Absolutely.
