  1. If we're away first, I will cry like a girl...
  2. Craigan is our most important player by a mile, and was outstanding last night. Long may it continue.
  3. Qualify from the group stages? Surely that can't be right. Qualifying for the group stage is extremely unlikely, nevermind getting out of them. And the window will be closed by then anyway.
  4. I can live with him not having Gannonesque signing skills if he also doesn't have the Gannonesque ego or Gannonesque tactical ineptitude that saw us in freefall before he left...
  5. I don't think Paw Broon was talking about the clubs annual accounting when he made that statement, to be fair. I think what he meant was: advertising money + money from programme sales + bar take at Cooper/Centenary - ground maintenance - staff wages = I can easily see that being the case. The years that we have made a (modest) profit, we have had to sell players to achieve it. Reynolds was supposed to be that sale this year. Hasn't, as yet, happened so I can absolutely understand how there is no money. I also think CB specifically mentioned the daily running costs of the club as a lot of similar-sized clubs have extra revenue streams (hotel & bar at Killie, 5-a-sides at St Mirren) which we don't have. Motherwell FC are a limited company and I for one would be quite happy to see us develop a property portfolio or invest in other non-football activities in order to stabilise the club going forward. Sadly, I don't think there is the foresight at Fir Park at the moment for such ventures and our money-making schemes will be limited to peddling the same tired old guff that gets peddled every season.
  6. I bought the home top, have taken the tags off it but think I still have the receipt. Does anyone know if I would be able to change it for an away one?
  7. That's a good point. I'm aware of all the past Motherwell sponsors, but I've never directly given any of them any business.
  8. To be fair, I think a couple of sheets of Splenda would hold up better than the CCC pish.
  9. There's no way we should have lost to them anyway - they were pure pish. As I recall, McCulloch only came on for the last ten minutes and bagged a brace.
  10. How did you take from that that my old fellas on holiday? He is, as it happens. Salou.
  11. Just before awp or SCDave come on here and go mental, I wasn't actually being serious...
  12. I bought mine, a long-sleeved home top, this morning. As soon as I got home, I had a ham shank and pulled a sleeve clean off. Very poor quality. Puma GTF.

Aye, but I think a big part of the reason why interest is dwindling in the FA Cup down south is because Championship teams and even smaller Premiership teams know that it's pretty unlikely that they'll win it, and that the financial implications down there make staying up/getting promoted/finishing higher in the table much more important than any cup glory. But since the Texaco Cup excludes teams that are playing in Europe, a team like Wigan (for example) would see a realistic chance of silverwear and a place in Europe. It would also help the likes of Man Utd as they are always complaining of a fixture build-up with the Champions League, etc, especially now that they have a maximum 25 man squad to choose from. The only teams I could see compaining about it would be the Old Firm, as one of them usually wins our league cup and gets the benefit of that, while they usually get papped out of Europe early doors. Far more winners than losers as far as I can see.

Scrap summer fitba, scrap the league cup, 16-team league playing each other twice and bring back the Texaco Cup. That would be absolutely marvellous.
  15. If it's anywhere near that sort of money, I'd tell Cardiff to wire the money straight to Davie Moyes bank account and get the Duke on the first train to Motherwell.
  16. Pish and double pish. That is all.
  17. I thought 'Flow said Reynolds wouldn't be playing?
  18. Hall of the Damned for this pish!
  19. I think a few folk have already made the point about Slane as well as I could have, so I won't labour it, but my feelings are so strong that I would have to consider whether I would turn up to games during any loan spell for that ungrateful little prick. The same thing would apply if Pearson was ever to return. They have issued our club with the ultimate insult and should never be allowed to darken the door of Fir Park again.
  20. Cannae see the draw at work. This is torture.
