  1. No need to get your knickers in a twist about it. I think fatcalf was talking pish, so I said that. The difference is, I've accepted that he's quite entitled to talk pish - Christ, he's even allowed to publish pish, but I took exception to the bit where you took criticising Fraser on a forum to mean that everyone was going to turn up and berate him if he plays on a saturday. I'm just pointing out that - at least as far as I'm concerned - that's not necessarily the case. I can understand the argument that says we should all shout and sing to support and encourage the players, but if the same thing applied to the forums then they would get pretty dull pretty quickly. That's as far as it goes from me - and I agree with you about the 'holier than thou' shite that happens on here, but that's what I thought you were putting across in your post. I'm certainly not guilty of that.
  2. That's a lot of pish. If he'd came on and said he thought Fraser was a good 'keeper then I'd have respectfully disagreed, but it was Mr Diggle who had a pop at folk for their opinions, not anyone else. And it's a wild (and inaccurate) assumption to think that people will shout at the fitba the same as what they post on here. While the game is on, that's the time for encouragement and most shouts are reactionary. Forums are the place to discuss the team in a reasonable manner when the dust has settled. End of story.
  3. Steve, I understand the point you're making and I generally think you talk a bit of sense, but you're edging a wee bit too close to the old Happy Clappy Club for my liking. The whole point of a close-season "Ins & Outs" thread is to discuss what areas of the team need strengthened for next term. It looks like we're losing our goalie, who was an influential part of our team last season, and the reserve goalie has always looked shaky when he's had to deputise, so it's only natural that folk would raise concerns. And this is exactly the place to do it. If it gets to the stage that Fraser is being booed onto the park like Woods, Adams, Corrigan, etc had to put up with then we can start the 'holier than thou' patter, but until then I think we're all entitled to raise our legitimate concerns about the team.
  4. I don't think anyone is having a go at Brown, to be fair. I'm quite sure he is aware that Fraser is pish. Unfortunately, Mutley put him on an inflated contract so it will be almost impossible to get rid of him before that contract is up.
  5. I always took him to be a Utd fan as he looked pretty smug to me when Jackson equalised.
  6. That means we shouldn't sign him! I remember telling everyone that Ibrahim Bakayoko would take the Premiership by storm when he signed for Everton because he'd been brilliant for me in Champy! And chances are most people who haven't played Champy can't remember him...
  7. I'll take papped out at with a glamour tie. No more of yer Mypa-47 pish!
  8. We've gone over this before - let's not do it to death. I agree it's a nonsense rule, but it's a legal issue rather than Gaag being a knob. Having said that, I can't imagine MFC suing steelmenonline.

    Granpa Broon

    I don't think he'll go.
  10. Clydesdale Bank have extended their original 3-year deal with the SPL for a further 2 years.
  11. I totally agree that it would be no slight on him. But to say a young boy who hasn't even proven himself to be SPL standard yet is suddenly going to become Motherwells highest scorer in a season for god knows how long is ridiculous.
  12. I would bet you my house that he won't ever score 20 goals for Motherwell in a season.
  13. Anyone else thinking that if Cardiff end up in the Premiership, Paul Quinn might find himself surplus to requirements? He's the one player we've never replaced, and I think if he'd stayed we'd have finished (at least) fourth.
  14. I have a question... Obviously, the games will be on 15th and 22nd July. And the draw is on June 21st, and in that draw we find out that we will be playing Team A or Team B, and we won't know which one it is until July 8th, but will we find out on June 21st if we are at home first or second? I assume the answer is yes, but I just want to be certain so I can make plans.
  15. Save he glamour ties for the group stages! Moan The 'Well!!
  16. If Fraser is in goals, it won't matter if we have Lucio partnering Craigan - we'd be Donald Ducked!
  17. Being utter pish for the first three months won't have helped Porter either, right enough...
  18. I think if you asked everyone to vote for POTY on a 1,2 and 3 point system the results would be different, as you would take consistency into account, but doing it this way is interesting to see the results. I genuinely couldn't pick a POTY this season, but I don't grudge Jennings the award one bit.
  19. I don't agree actually. I think Hutchison is a ready-made replacement, and I also think if he stays fit, he will be a much better centre-half than Reynolds has been for us. And if I thought Ladbrokes would entertain it, I'd be sticking a tenner on Hutchison to become our highest ever transfer fee received in a few years. Reckon he could easily go for £2m+ if he fulfills his potential.

The only annoying thing about a celebratory strip is that, with the manufacturer and sponsor both changing this season, this was going to be the first strip in a good while that was going to last more than one season. If we bring out one for the 125th year, which obviously has to be a one-season effort by definition, then that's another two kits for a season each, which probably takes it up to about a decade of one strip per year. Having said that, I think it's too big an occasion to go un-marked.
