  1. I think Lasley is out for the season. Hopefully Ruddy will play, but not confident of us getting anything. The best we can hope for from saturday is Hearts beating Hibs. I'd happily settle for that.
  2. I agree with the majority of comments on here. I wish him well, and would have liked him to have stayed, but if he needs 30-40 games a season then that's clearly not going to be us. Given that the Juke looks to be off, I'd have held onto Smith as a back-up striker unless Paw Broon has a couple of forwards coming in that I don't know about. That being the case, we'll just have to wave him off, wish him well and fondly remember a few big, big goals he scored for us. I always enjoyed his goals that bit more because you knew they meant as much to him as they did to the guys cheering on from the stands. All the best, Darren.
  3. The last time there was a ticketing initiative at Fir Park, we put in our worst performance of the season and lost to the worst team in the league - fact. I would also say if you looked at the last twenty times there was more than 8000 in Fir Park, we'll have lost 15 of them. Just a guess, but it certainly seems that way.
  4. Correct. Get Hibs on yer aways.
  5. I was just about to come on and post the same thing. Was a brilliant goal, and in a similar vein to McGarrys at St Mirren in that it was a magnificent team goal that meant so much more because it signalled the start of an era.
  6. I don't really see the problem with Mitches suggestion, to be fair. It would be the same as saving up for a year for a season ticket, buying it and then starting again, except you don't have to miss a years football. And the price you pay for that is that you don't get the credit interest you would've got if you were saving up. No problem, and certainly not the reason why we're in a recession. Irresponsible lenders and borrowers are the reason, yes, but Mitches suggestion is perfectly responsible, and exactly how a credit card should be used.
  7. I think it's more just the need to vent when things aren't going well. When things are ticking along nicely, a quiet satisfaction is generally what most folk will go for. Even if we won the Cup, most folk would be out singing and dancing into the wee small hours, but the need to go on to the computer and type 'Yaaaaaaaa Beeeee-auty!' isn't really there. It is a shame that if any players read it, they mostly only get a mention if they've made an arse of something - they should really treat it as no news being good news in that respect!
  8. Given they pumped us 3-0 with ten men a few weeks ago, and since then have been on a great run and we've been on a shit run, I am expected a sound thrashing. Would be delighted with a draw.
  9. Good point - I never thought of that as my missus works for Sky so I get it all for nowt! Or you could just go to JDs... Your second point is very valid. I don't miss many games, home or away, but if I didn't have a season ticket during the Malpas season, I very much doubt if I'd have went to a league game after we went out of the Cup...
  10. Here's a quick calculation for you... East Stand season ticket = £270. 18 league games and one cup game. Most non-season ticket holders got into the Falkirk game for free, so 270 divided by 18 works out at exactly £15 per match. If you paid into every other home game, (three against the Old Firm = £20 a time, the rest £18), then you paid £330, which works out at £18.33 per game. Very rough figures, but the gist of it is that if you buy a season ticket and go to every game, you save £3.33 per game - pie money basically! In my opinion, it's not really worth shelling out the lump sum during the summer time to save a handful of smash each week. And that's before you even take into account how many games you might have to miss during the season! On this seasons prices, if you're a season ticket holder who has missed three or more home games, you've actually paid out more money than if you just turned up and paid. Purely from a financial point of view, I don't think it's worth it. Having said that, if you go to every game without fail and have a spare few hundred quid knocking about in the summertime, you might as well go for it. Edit - Futhermore, six of our eighteen home games (I think) have been live on TV, so if you give them a miss and go to the rest, you'll have saved £114 on gate money, and paid out £54 less than a season ticket holder over the course of the season and not missed a kick of the ball at Fir Park!
  11. "Personal Info Frazzle Motherwell Legend Age Unknown years old " Geez a swatch then...
  12. Nah, I don't think it's bizarre. It's not like I'm saying I don't want us to qualify for Europe. The thing I always remember, just after they started listing teams by squad numbers, was the collective groans and grumblings from the 'Well support when the first three names on the team were read out as "1. Stevie Woods, 2. Martyn Corrigan, 7.Derek Adams" and these were three guys who were good honest pros, comitted to the club with a spot-on attitude. Not worldbeaters, I admit, but I've always been baffled as to why the Motherwell support always give guys like them pelters and other players with more talent who don't apply themselves get off very lightly. I also remember the day we got pumped 5-2 at Dunfermline (I think) on the opening day one season and Adams, who had been getting undeserved (IMHO) pelters all day swung in a corner for our second goal, and he punched the air in the direction of the 'Well support. There was a genuine vibe that day that some fans were raging that he'd put in a good cross for the goal. That's the sort of thing I find bizarre.
  13. I don't think anyone will disagree with you on that one!
  14. I can't see the pictures, but I reckon there'll have been more 'Well fans there than there will be at the Potatobowl tonight!
  15. If County win the Cup and the 'Well finish 5th, I'd like to think Derek Adams would take a wee bit of extra satisfaction in denying us Europe because of the shite he took from the support while he was here.
  16. We could go to a league schedule of playing 30 league games if they brought back the Texaco Cup, and made it a Europa-stylee group stage. Now that, my friends, would be fucking magnificent.
  17. Fair play to John Boyle and the board for this.
  18. I'm not getting too concerned about a Celtic backlash as I don't think they have the heart, or the guts for that. However, I am concerned that we are in a slump, and we're up against probably the quickest and best forward in the league on a big park with lots of room to exploit. As a result, I expect us to crowd out the midfield and play one up front, with no real interest in getting the ball to him. That said, it could work, but we'd need to be lucky. The first twenty minutes could be crucial.
  19. I think this guy emailed me to say that he would come and play for FirParkCorner if I sent him $6,000 for his flight...
  20. I don't think that's right. I'm sure it has to be a Celtic-Utd final. I reckon Gordon Smith tried to make that the case, but was blocked by FIFA/UEFA. Could be wrong though.
  21. One of the Edinburgh sides, preferably at home I would say. Ideally want yourselves or one of the Old Firm at home on the last day as it will probably mean we'll be the only team with something to play for.
  22. It's not going to work like that. We'll definitely be playing Dundee Utd and Celtic at Fir Park, and Rangers at Ibrox. It's the other two that are up for debate I think, but they'll probably make Hearts at Tynecastle and Hibs at Fir Park to keep it as competitive as possible.
