  1. Brown on Tom Hateley at Aberdeen: “I think he was maybe motivated by the Aberdeen fans who were giving him a bit of advice..." Superb!
  2. That's been annoying me for a wee while aswell, especially at the Killie game at Rugby Park where a shower of knobends were singing it wrongly. I just didn't want to be the one to mention it first...
  3. I think the Peterlee 8 and the Albo however many should get together in a Harry Hill-esque fight to establish which is better. Actually, is anyone in both? In which case, they would have the bragging rights for sure.
  4. I doubt you'll get a committee as handsome as the two guys in the fotie...
  5. I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight after reading this thread...
  6. The last part that you've highlighted is me saying that him being one of our own is an after-thought in the reasoning. Playing for more than one good team isn't the same as hanging about for years - it proves the measure of a good Motherwell player that he was an integral part of our 2nd and 3rd place finishes, as well as the cup-winning team. Even outwith those three seasons, he scored a load of fondly remembered goals against the bigots, another thing Boyd didn't achieve for the 'Well. Boyd is a c**t, Arnott is a ledge, and the difference is not because of what team they support. Edit - In fact, I've just thought of two words that prove my point and blow your argument out of the water... Stevie. Kirk.
  7. Surely you're not suggesting Dougie Arnott is held in higher regard than Tom Boyd by 'Well fans simply because he hung about Fir Park for longer? The two key facts are: - Tom Boyd was part of one good Motherwell team. Arnott was part of several. - Boyd has been publicly disrespectful towards MFC, while Arnott has almost been an ambassador in terms of turning up to fans events, etc. Those are the reasons, as well as the fact that Arnott is one of our own, why he is held in higher esteem than Boyd. Boyd, in my mind, is on a similar level in terms of fondness as Porter or Stephen Hughes. Arnott, on the other hand, is a complete legend.
  8. Nah, I'm not buying that. Arnott got cut slack in his last couple of years because he'd already given us a decade of loyal service, including being instrumental in a Scottish Cup win and two further jaunts into Europe, not to mention scoring loads of memorable goals against the Old Firm. Reynolds, for me, is no better or worse a player than Fitzpatrick, came through at around the same time and thus should be treated the same way. Which, I have to say, would be somewhere in the middle of how they are both treated just now. Comparing Reynolds to a bonafide legend is just ridiculous.
  9. Good shout - he was absolutely murder. Another one I hated was Khelad Kemas.
  10. You're not comparing Jamie Dolan and Dougie Arnott to Mark Reynolds. Are you? Nah, you can't be; that would be silly...
  11. I agree with every word of that. However, I do take the original point in general, except that Mark Reynolds is neither a hardman or a foreigner...
  12. Well, in two ways really. I don't think "Petrol Blue" is that nice a colour, or a common colour for a football shirt these days, so we'd have to make sure we got the shade right to be true to the original shirt, otherwise it's pointless. Not to mention the similarities it could have to 'h*n blue' if it's done wrong. I also think the shirt itself would have to have a retro design, otherwise the old-fashioned colour wouldn't look right. Might even be an idea to have the names of Glencairn and Alpha incorporated into the shirt in some way. I dunno - I do like the idea of doffing our cap to the traditions of bygone years, but I just don't think I'm going to like the end result of this one.
  13. Would need to be very carefully done, don't think I'd be keen.
  14. Fair play to the folk who are going to a bit of effort to make a few extra quid for our club. It's not really for me and I doubt I'll ever go, but there's no need for the folk who don't fancy it to stick the boot in. As I said on the facebook thread, I don't miss many Motherwell games home or away and there's very few I'd want to watch in full the very next day, but if some folk do have the perogative to go and stick some cash in the 'Wells till then fair play to them. I hope it turns into an extra wee revenue stream for years to come, but I can see it being scrapped before the end of this season. Hope I'm wrong though.
  15. I imagine you'd probably find that less white shorts sold than any other colours, purely because people buy them to play football in and they get wrecked much quicker than any other colour. They do look the business though.
  16. Wouldn't call that much of a success, to be honest...
  17. That is quite possibly the best post I've ever read on here.
  18. That's just a ridiculous post, weeyin, so I'll give it what it deserves.... Ya Bezzer, I take your point, but a room full of booze when there's criminals who haven't tasted the stuff for years and have no way of buying it surely is one of the things you would have locked? You wouldn't leave the contents of the till lying about, and to me this isn't any different. It's still money walking out the door. Something that happens to often at Fir Park.
  19. I don't remember hearing anything about a ceiling collapsing because they were stashing booze above it. Fair play to them if it's true. Everything should be locked away when there's known criminals wandering about. Can't blame anyone else, I'm afraid.

Of course that's true, but I can almost guarantee that the same thing could be said for most of what you're wearing right now. I can't say the same, of course, as I'm naked....
  21. I must hold my hands up and say I had big reservations about him at one point, but I was wrong. I hope they both stay forever!

    Faddy

The fact that McClair had been part of the squad that won the European Cup a few years before he came back to the 'Well, even youngsters like myself expected better, regardless of how good he was for the 'Well first time around. If Faddy ever wins the European Cup, I will be absolutely chuffed for him, but I doubt I'd want him back after it as he'd be out of our price range and past it.

    Faddy

Our current team has Lasley, Hammell and Craigan who have all been away and come back, so there must be something in it, not to mention Uncle Phil to complete a wee list of folk who have come back and done well. However, McClair was just here for the signing-on fee and I think Faddy is above that. Welcome back anytime as far as I'm concerned.
