Great weekend for the 'Well then as we won our Lanarkshire Derby (of sorts) 5-1 away to Clyde in Ferniegair, also on a surface far superior to Fir Park.
-
Ah, I know exactly who you're talking about now. Look out for a Tam Cowan signed ball appearing for sale on here soon as I was there when he asked him to sign it in the Centenary after a game last season or the season before. Strange young lad.
-
He has to live up to his nickname. There's no way John Wayne would be floored with 12 stitches. Moan The Duke!
-
I think we've seen since just how under-rated Quinn was, to be fair. If Cardiff offerred him back in a straight swap for Reynolds, I'd take their arm off! No harm to Reynolds. I like him and I hope he does well when he leaves, but I just don't think he's that good.
-
My guess is that he is the son of long-serving community coach, Colin MacKinnon. Total guess though. Edit - If we're desperate to find out, he's claimed in another thread to have sponsorred Mark McGhee in his first season with us. Anyone with a programme lying about from that season would be able to narrow it down a good deal.
-
If he'd played three good seasons then you would all be right in what you're saying, but if any clubs have been watching him consistently since he broke into the team then their cheque books will remain firmly in their pockets. I'd take quarter of a million right now.

You know what's as annoying as fuck, and there's several folk on here guilty of it? Saying how they know everything that's going on, but tell us nowt. If you are 'in the know', either spill the beans or keep it zipped. Nobody is impressed by the simple fact that some people talk to footballers - just irritated.
-
Aye, so the guys who want to ride him on here can't see it anymore...
-
Fixed that for you there, Steve. On the game itself, everything points to a 'Well win for me, but that has also been the case (at least) the last three times we've played them, and they've played us off the park each time. I expect us to not show up and lose 2-0. Hope I'm wrong though.

If you're talking about me, the initial rage has died down from Monday and I shall be there as usual!
-
See, I know where you're going there, but for me that's irrelevant. Yeah, if you'd asked me the night of the first Llanelli game if I'd be happy losing to St Johnstone on Boxing Day to make it seven games without a win, but we were still in the top six with a decent squad then of course I'd be delighted, but the fact that Gannon came in and signed a lot of very decent players and started the season well raised the expectation level. Don't get me wrong - I'm not demanding Europe every season, but by Xmas it was obvious to me that Gannon was only taking us in one direction. The thing I keep saying when talking about Gannon is that he signed us a better squad of players in a short space of time than we could have reaslistically hoped for, but he completely failed to manage them once they were here.

It is only my opinion, of course, but it's just as valid as anyone elses. When you're talking about performances, it can only ever be opinion, but my opinion of November and December is... Draw away to ten-man Accies - Not good enough. Draw at home to ten-man Aberdeen - Not good enough. Draw at home to nine-man Dundee Utd - Unacceptable. Losing 2-0 at Easter Road - Pish performance but result to be expected. Losing 3-2 at home to Celtic - Ditto Hibs game. Losing 6-1 at Ibrox - Not good enough. Losing 3-1 at home to St Johnstone - Completely unacceptable. That was the last two months of Gannons reign. If you think that's good enough, then you have very low standards. Good riddance.

I don't think that's really the case, to be honest. For example, McCleish was a disaster here and is now one of the most highly thought-of managers in the Premiership. Billy Davies is another who failed here with a big budget, and has been a hero at Derby and now Forrest, looking Premiership-bound again. On the other hand, Terry Butcher done a great job at Fir Park and has been shite everywhere before and since. My point is that the achievements (or otherwise) of managers at other clubs isn't really a measure of how good a Motherwell manager they'd be/could have been.

Since Malky79 is part of the FPC Mafia, I have to agree with him anyway, but ultimately, he is right on this one.
-
Aye, we've both got fuck-all chance so that is fairly even.
-
Nah, I wouldn't rather be involved in a relegation dogfight, but there's no denying that it would be more exciting. The season will just peter out now.
-
Sorry Peter, I have to disagree. Floating about in the middle doesn't mean we can feed off the excitement of above and below. We need to either be fighting for Europe or fighting against relegation to have an exciting remainder of the season, and I just can't see either happening. Now that the cup is gone, the season is gone. Having said that, it should give us a head start for next season if we can establish early who is staying and who is going and sort the manager situation out. Also, anyone who indicates they are leaving when their contract is up in the summer shouldn't kick a ball for us again.

I'm not sure. Our Setanta record was awful - one win (Skippy Sunday) in god knows how many games. The game Kerr scored was on BBC I think, but I also think the Nancy games were aswell so maybe 1 in 3 on there for us. We used to do pretty well on Sky when Ged Brannan used to pull his finger out when the cameras turned up but no idea of figures. Also can't mind us being on ESPN before to be honest.
-
How far back does that go? The most recent televised wins I can think of were Skippy Sunday and against Aberdeen in the League Cup when Kerr scored. I'm assuming BBC Alba doesn't count...

A big part of the reason teams want Reynolds is because the attributes he has are rare in young centre-halfs, ie: 1. Pace 2. Left-footed Other than that, he's nothing special. But he could be. And that's what folk are buying when they buy Reynolds. However, that's also the reason why we now won't get anywhere near the amount we'd have got for him a year or two ago - he's only got older, not better.
-
To be honest, a lot of the time on here over the years I've felt exactly the opposite. I felt Reynolds for almost two full years was total pish at centre half beside Craigan, yet he was always getting votes in the MotM polls, etc. Craigan isn't a total footballer - he'll put his laces through it maybe more than he should, he will sometimes slice a clearance and he could be quicker, but on the park he is a leader, an organiser, has an awareness that is second to none and always gives 100% for the jersey. Reynolds, on the other hand, can't mark, can't tackle and has no positional awareness, yet he's the blue-eyed boy of the 'Well support. He's had a decent season so far, but over the piece during his time at Motherwell, he's been no better than guys like Fitzpatrick who are demonised by 'Well fans.

Yeah, you're probably right, but that's another frustration of the SPL and their daft rules.
