He's from the Welltrust FC school of only posting when they've won!
-
We also lost a friendly to Rhyl before our Euro exploits and a damn good start to the season, so I wouldn't hit the panic button just yet.

I think big Ruddy is quality, but if we do have a £250k warchest lying about (which I doubt) then I'm not sure I'd want it blown on a goalie. Apart from anything else, they tend to command less of a transfer fee going forward so it's highly unlikely we'd sell him on for seven figures in the future. £100k plus 5% sell-on clause would be reasonable I think. Would love him to stay though.

I bet Chris Humphrey has never even tasted Irn Bru.
-
But you could probably understand how someone like Driver might feel more Scottish than someone like Humphrey. My mum was born in Newarthill but I can't stand the place. No need to go all misty-eyed because a relative happened to give birth in a particular place.

Was a close call between Coke and Hately for me. Went for Giles but wouldn't grudge any player the award this week. Great team effort.
-
Hutchison is the pick of the bunch for me but, as Neil rightly says, nobody deserves to be dropped so if I was Gannon, Hutchison would have to be patient and wait for his chance. Wonderful problem to have though.

Sasa Curcic = Legend.

Was it not 3-0 to us with about a minute to go when he saved the penalty at Morton? I do take your point, and agree, regardless. The semi at Easter Road is one of the best performances I've ever seen from a 'Well goalie.
-
Aye, that's part of the deal - you need to ban all the folk that hate me! Think of how stress-free it would be running a site with half a dozen members!
-
You don't need know-how! Just a wee bit of time, and maybe a website full of 'Well fans...
-
I'd like to see Portsmouths away top in our colours. Claret collar, claret canterbury bits, with one amber and one claret stripe. The sponsor could ruin it though.
-
Well, you'll be getting hounded just shortly! I am confident that Joe has exactly the right qualities to take the Trust forward so I'm quite excited by what lies ahead.
-
DosserJoe I believe is that man, although I think the most important thing is that it's not Martin Rose. I'm sure if you, or anyone else, strongly wanted to stand for the position, Joe would consider pulling out and throw his weight behind another person.
-
Aye, they've all dived into an internet cafe and googled him!

Sky Sports - Motherwell's Greatest Ever Player Nominations
Frazzie replied to Tartan_Special's topic in Club Chat
You're right in a way, but it's impossible for any panel to judge really, especially if it's made up partly of younger generations. The best panel would be a shower of right old guys who are still going to the games who could remember the great teams we had in the 70s, 50s and even 30s and compare them as such, but even then it's difficult to set a fair criteria, given that the game has changed so much. Playing devils advocate here, of course, but if WullieP was playing today, would he be considerred as fast as he was? Given that players now are all atheletes and Pettigrew was playing against guys with proper bellies on them, maybe he would be a totally average player just now. Also, guys like Peter Millar and the rest of the team who kicked St Mirren off the park in '78 wouldn't last five minutes nowadays with the new referees mindset about tackles from behind, etc. So does that mean that guys like Craigan, who are more hard but fair, would be considerred better than them in the listing? I dunno the answer to that - I'm just asking the question. -
If you wrote a message on a shirt and left it at Fir Park on the ground or on a railing, it is not a personal message at all. Hundreds of people will have read it while it lay wherever you put it. Personally, I think Phil would be chuffed to bits with where the shirts ended up and if his widow has given her blessing, then all the more reason. Well done 'Flow.
-
The five people are already in position. I'm one of them. Although six would be even better (hint, hint folks!).
-
Aye, get them over and they could walk into the Scotland team when they're older!
-
That is absolute class, and very fitting (unlike big Glens shirt on the boy in the photo!).

And I'm not back-tracking. If the rumours are true, and I do admit that is a big 'If' then I am firmly in the camp that says he can GTF. Of course, there's people who will defend him as long as he's a Motherwell player and I can understand that school of thought and they're entitled to have it - I just don't share it. If the rumours aren't true, then I hope he turns out to be the next Johnny Gahagan/Davie Cooper and I will cheer him on all the way.

Look, there's two possibilities here. Firstly, Slane wants to play for Motherwell and is choking to sign the contract and red tape or Motherwell is holding up the deal. Quite possible, and I hope that's the case. Secondly, the contract has been sitting on the table for weeks and he hasn't signed it because for whatever reason, he doesn't want to. That is the only two possible situations at the moment, and none of us know which of those scenarios are correct. But, being football fans on a football forum, we speculate. You have no right to take the morale high ground over me, much the same as I have no right to take it over you because both of us know exactly HEE-HAW about the situation. However, being football fans on a football forum, we naturally jump to our own conclusions about what's going on because we're not being told by anyone 'in the know'. That's fine. The conclusion you're jumping to is that he's dying to sign the contract and is committed to Motherwell. That's absolutely fine, your perogative and I sincerely hope you're right. But what I suspect is that he's not signing the contract because he wants more money and/or a move to Celtic. I have based my suspicions on the rumours about McGhee doing a deal last season, McCart trying to poach him, etc and the ever-increasing negative effect that agents are having on the game. I could be a mile out, but those factors are what I'm basing it on - not 'pulling it out my arse' as you so poetically put it. You could be right, I could be wrong. Or I could be right and you could be wrong. That's what rumours and debates are all about so there's no need to get so wound up about it.
-
It's not my rumour. Someone else posted it and I've already said there's nothing to suggest that it's true. So you can put your burning torches down and get off my lawn ya shower of heid-bangers!
-
I think it was George Stevenson.
-
How on earth am I acting the big man? If anything, it's yourself who has came on and started throwing the personal insults about. All I'm saying is that if Slane has refused to sign a contract because he thinks he's worth more than Forbes et al, or because he's holding out for a move to Celtic, then I don't think much of him. If this was a year down the line and he'd given us a good consistent season of performances then I wouldn't be as annoyed, but given that this whole debate is based on two performances then it's ridiculous that he thinks so highly of himself. If that is the case, then what sort of attitude will he have on him once he's actually done something decent in the SPL? Are you getting it yet?
