Hanley and mclean were only playing because of their performances against Portugal I think Grizzly but think that will now be start of phase out. I think your harsh on christie his determination and workrate of the ball are up there with best in team plus he's tidy with it and he is getting played out of position .let's see him in his club position next to gilmour and he will thrive I feel. Ralston done well again last night and gilmour was good other than his shooting. Wee doak outstanding we have not had that in years where when he gets the ball their is excitement in crowd. I was disappointed with conway but his 1st start against top class defenders. Gauld impressed again and him and mcginn made big difference when on. Hope some of the takes from last night are having a wee re think today

David I agree that clarke can contradict himself however no manager is going to come out and say a player isn't gd enough so they have to say something to the press which is what he's doing. Your point on doak is not my view as no doubt if you are training with liverpool players every day and showing to be as good as them then that is worth a lot more than playing for motherwell in spfl. Plus without trying to sound too negative i have never saw miller dominate any game even other day for u19s he wasn't best on park. He has gd moments certainly. If he joins so called big league team and if he gets in their team then no doubt he will be in squad as he will be proving himself at a level similar to international football. If he joins a so called superclub I.e liverpool man city etc and is in and around 1st team again I would expect same for him as he will be up against elite players everyday Unless you are outstanding in spfl and even if you are then you are likely going to struggle against kovacic.modric.silva zielinski. Etc who are who he'd be up against in these matches I believe he can maybe get there but loads to do and as I say his next move is crucial

Exactly where I am Joe. I actually think because there are no other young players around just now in spfl miller gets it quite easy with praise. He has all tools in his locker and does make game look easy but I read a stat on a debate on him yesterday that said his pass completion was 75% which was one of lowest in league and less than 2 tackles a game again one of lowest in league. So there is certainly things for him to improve. If we think back to when turnbull came in team we also had at that time campbell and hastie who were really exciting as well as arriyibi who again was better than anything we have now I feel. His next move is massive and certainly if he went to celtic I don't think he would play for a bit. Turnbull got unlucky with injury at celtic as before that he was playing every week so it shows in football anything can happen and there are no guarantees.

All about opinions but in games I've saw him in for scotland u21s he has been best player on park every time. Cameos for Liverpool were gd against top class internationals. Now for boro he is involved in goals every week and was not bad in full team last 2 games. There's also a reason Liverpool signed him and it's obviously because he's quite gd. It's easy to slag clarke and I can as well for some things but I think he's handling miller well at this stage
-
I'm not clarkes biggest fan either but he is obviously trying to protect miller. Plus he's called up doak( scotlands most talented u21) conway doig johnstone barron in last few games who are all performing at a higher level than miller so I think you are being harsh with the u21 shout Does anyone think at this minute in time miller is performing better than any of the midfielders picked. I for one certainly don't.

After lot of thoughts and reading a lot of opinions. I do feel that up to now in the season we have over achieved. Our defence is OK but without mcginn we have no defender to help out in attacking phases and this hurt us on Sunday. Our midfield as most know is very poor and I don't recall 1 game this season where we have dominated. Strikers then have no ammunition but anytime moses is on he looks Our most dangerous and why he wasn't brought on Sunday is really a mystery. We are still in every game that we play apart from celtic other week so if we can somehow remedy midfield with our injured players returning or additions in jan then certainly we can have a gd season.

That's same team I'd pick Grizzly. Miller and halliday 2 sitting midfielders with wilson slightly forward on left and maswanhise closer to apstam on right. If sods is fit he will play instead of balmer I think. They still have better players than us but they are certainly fragile and other than celtic our other 3 defeats have only been by 1 goal so I am certainly expecting a really tight game. Wee maswahanise and miller can certainly provide match winning moments so I'm as confident as can be expected but still realise we could lose quite easily. Will be a great day and hopefully great game if we can do it.

Ticket sales no doubt would have been as required . But in my view there was more than that in ground as no spaces in either top or bottom tier or either of aisles.

I didn't say he was lying. I was commenting on other posters. However people in his position no matter who they work for can be let's say economical with the truth. Keeping the peace so to speak.
-
It sounds crazy to suggest our CEO is lying but certainly not impossible. The response to steelboy is maybe the information he has received from others within the club in charge of those matters. However during game it looked overcrowded and watching video clips from skysports after it suggested mass overcrowding so I am going to believe my own eyes and not listen to what someone else says.

I think Balmer will stay in. His throw ins cannot be underestimated. Basically anywhere 25 yards up from goalline as a throw in is equivalent to a corner. So a huge asset. He can throw the ball to the back post so it really is a game changer as has been proven already .

I feel this also as against belgium he was playing right mid of a 3 I'd say with barron directing traffic in middle and so maybe that's why barron looked better. Miller's best position in my mind is in middle directing traffic from deep but he's been played further forward for ur recently where although done OK I don't feel he is on ball enough to utilise his passing which is strongest part of his game I feel

Totally agree with your 2nd point but your 1st point is not what I said. Top players are constantly wanting it or trying to get it back. Big difference to what you say.
-
Never said that. Interpretation is everything. My observation is justified I feel .Billy gilmour is a ball player but watch him and he never stops moving and he was same at 16 17 18 as he is now. Continuously wanting the ball and wanting it back when he didn't have it.

Yep gemmill is poor but as I said on paper looks strong squad as a lot of players playing regularly in spfl. What it highlights is spfl is not very strong and our players not as gd as some think they are. Miller is only 18 and has all attributes to reach top but I personally feel he has loads to do not least improve his pace and determination. Not meaning to talk him down but Turnbull imo was better although he was 20 in his breakthrough season. If you look at the really top players they never stop running miller just now for me is too passive. That of course is easily rectified and talent which he has in abundance is not. I hope he came off pitch on Friday and thought that's level I need to get to.
-
Totally agree belgium miles ahead of us. Watson never on miller was anonymous barron and mullen of leeds only ones I'd say were OK maybe other 2 cb murray and neilson. Mebude offered something but I think that showed where we are just now. I also thought johnstone and doig were poor. On paper looks strongest squad for a while buy they look a poorly coached team. No patterns of play all night.

Block e and club disagreements will take a wee bit of give and take I feel from both parties. The situation with the 14 age group is just total madness. We go to high school at age 11/12 meaning for most down street at lunchtime into the local big town etc and generally more leeway from our parents. This age group want to run about with their pals and we need all support we can get so whoever came up with this idea and whoever followed it through must quite frankly be not right in the head.

If there's a chance of ryan jack then I feel the risk is worth it. He is miles in front of anyone else in our midfield with the obvious caveat of fitness. However when phil odonnell came back he had only played 20 games in 4 years and done great for us. Fitness comes and goes and a big part of it is players determination to succeed.
-
Calm yourself doon .Just repeating what he said. And stop insinuating what I'm saying as your perception is a wee bit different to mine. If a player says what he said if your not shocked with it then I know what's a load of shite . Eloquently put.
-
I agree this time with you steelboy. Nicholson actually said himself on one of the after match videos last season when asked if he could replicate his super goal he said words along lines of Well maybe if I still had 2 working knees ankles and hips. I was shocked at the time.
-
Mcginn I'd certainly want to keep. nicholson ? Done some wee bits but plenty like him out there so definitely no loss in losing him. Spittal to hearts is a big loss obviously but what I hope it shows is our best players get moves that increase their wages drastically. Can help with transfers to us with players from lesser teams.
-
Yep what you say about miller was the change as wee davor in that position cant kick the ball more than 10 yards so when our full backs pushed on he couldnt find them, miller could and did. Vale coming on was great he roamed about all across the pitch inbetween their defense and midfield and going beyond them sometimes and their defenders didnt know where he was. !st half wasnt as bad as being made out I felt. we were in control easily but as only bair up top they were comfortable but we had something like 75% posession so all this about 1st half being terrible is wide of the mark. Gent in for devine on saturday with miller and davor and spittal and vale behind bair for me with nicholson coming on later on for davor when hopefully we are still in game. Last night worried me a bit when seeing the bench as there was not a midfielder on it. if Miller got injured again we have no one to play there. Anyway a good night where we dispatched Livi relatively easy and all the martindale will know how to set up against us chat was proved to be what it was and that is he is a crap manager and they are bottom of league for a reason. Onwards and upwards.

100% correct mate. Blaney straight swap for casey. But his changes to accommodate butcher had our back 3 all over place. Kettlewell has us playing some decent stuff at times but that today is on him. Raging as they aren’t that good certainly worst celtic team in yeard but they still beat us.

The great thing that is going on just now is that everyone is thinking about new ideas on how to improve things. A great post on twitter from Grant Russell highlights loads of options which could improve us . These types of people and the new WS board are definitely giving me hope for the future. Keep the debates and ideas going guys.
-
Echo what I'm sure everyone feels. StAndrew7 what a great post. There will be different opinions for sure . Initial reaction from myself is WS retain a position with the professionals from Aus doing their stuff seems a win win. Early stages obviously but a club our size needs to use analysis more as was spoken about in great detail by David on another post which was a really interesting read. Smaller clubs in leagues all over Europe use these stats and are giving the big boys a fright.
