Was at the game and whilst we were good 1st half the 2nd half was different and no doubt the goal with last kick of half would have dented their confidence a bit. The only criticism I had of yesterday was we didnt thow on another striker i.e go 424 last 5 mins and just hammer balls up the park. We put on shields and roberts and shields had 2 attempts 1 header over bar and another where vickers sort of blocked his shot. So another striker in about there might have made difference, who knows. What I am liking right enough is slowly but surely Alexander I feel is trying to change mindset about going to places like yesterday and not feel inferior. The 1st half was best we have done against either of them for a few games and I just hope we can take it further. I know I am biased but every week there seems to be huge decisions that always go for them and yesterday was no different. The pressure the 2 glasgow teams fans put on referees via social media must have an influence as refs are only human and must read some of it. The ones that are deemed to favour 1 side of glasgow give some absolute belters of decisions in the favour of their supposed rivals so as trying not to look biased and maddens decision of stopping play other week for jotas hamstring against hearts was unbelievable and today I am reading all the celtic fans say yesterdays ref was a h*n. Its laughable. 1. Hart was he outside or not? well woolery was on line and he had to jump over him to punch it . possible red card if deemed to be stopping a goal scoring opportunity. 2. Foul for the freekick ? Slattery wasnt moving and looked like he was protecting ball. 3 Watt penalty. Ref is looking right at it from 5 yards away and vickers holds his leg up not lettig him pass. not only stick on penalty but vickers maybe sent off as no attempt to play ball? If any of this happened to them or their pals from other side of city it would be talked about for weeks but our media let it roll and its starting to really get to me now. Anyway after all that 3rd place is definitely there for the taking this year and I just hope next 4 games we really put a marker down before the break.

Like all on here that was our best performance of the season. We played the 1st half all in their half of pitch and 2nd half we started same and then their sending off and goal from resulting free kick meant we wer home and hosed. We totally dominated them all over pitch today and I hope that gives boys huge confidence to really kick on. All players done great and the players that came in after Aberdeen game done especially well. Shields.woolery slattery and lamie. I hope that all the players are now realizing that if you dont do enough you will be out th team as if no injurys then I'm sure Alexander would have chosen the same team as last week. We have a lot of options now and this is only a good thing. Happy Saturdays.

My thought as well MJC. Totally pissed off with yesterday and long for the days when we knew we would give them a game. Im going to make some excuses here and I will likely get slagged off but the players have to believe they can beat them which I dont think is the case and tony watt chance at 1-0 was massive and also when watt cut inside v arfield a 1-0 he could have went down and gave ref a decision to make. Rangers are more streetwise also as in 2nd half we were attacking down right and bassey was injured which meant we had extra numbers but he stayed down and walsh stopped the game, he got back up after physio on and running about no bother. Small things but that is what we needed after they scored their 1st we needed a bit of gamesmanship from someone. Odonnell and mcginley getting a lot of stick on here but all game tavernier and bassey had the whole side they were on to theirselves, why was our forward players one on each side not told to mark them if they attacked. Mcginley and goss in 1st half were dealing with tavernier aribo and arfield every attack and 3 v 2 is only going to be one winner. Our forwards do not track their opposing fullbacks and that imo is big issue and why we get overrun in midfield. SOD and mcginley are also really lacking in confidence that was shown in a few breakaways where they mucked up simple passes. 2015 seems a lifetime ago and with the players we have and tactics used its hard to see any light at end of tunnel. Only pass marks yesterday were bevis,sol.ohara and i also thought shields done ok in the sense he was busy but that should be a given and not something you get praise for. I also understand people wanting rid of Alexander because the football is dire and I dont see him adjusting the team for certain games. Everyone knows rangers full backs are their main creative force but we let them get on with it with no one tracking them. Good managers see the main threat in opposition and plan something to stop it. I can maybe be judged as happy clapper as I try to always see the positive but its hard last night and this morning. Anyway back to work and Aberdeen at weekend and heres hoping we see a big reaction.

Mic that is not the rules though that if theres any contact in box it's a penalty. This season it has been that there needs to be enough contact to impede player. Sinclair was ridiculous decision as was rangers one on Wednesday as although yes Aberdeen player looked like he was holding shirt it wasnt enough to go down as he went down as if pushed. The 2 Glasgow teams get the decisions not imo through blatant cheating but because the referees are humans and get swayed by in most cases by big crowd claiming for it plus the reputation of their players and managers and also the media. Referees will talk to all the aforementioned and steven gerrard or callum McGregor for example moaning about something to them will be remembered by them more than say grimmy having a go at them. They do get more of the big decisions awarded and that's facts not paranoia or easy cop out. Everyone on here can I'd imagine remember loads of decisions against us when playing either of them. A lot of whinging and moaning here and also last night in east stand. The 1st goal big moans at grimmy for not passing right but there was more room on left and so it proved. Moaning at odonnell for not passing forward when he kept the ball but not a lot of cheers for him when he was main instigator in pass to watt to move into box for penalty and also last 5 mins he ran full length of park nearly twice to try and get something . Some of our fans calling our players useless at game is pure pish patter imo and can only dent their confidence. Yes I am not convinced with Alexanders football either but We need to always support the team. I cannot understand doing something that will certainly have a negative effect on team during the match. Alexander has been successful earlier in season defending leads by bringing on defenders but last night brought on ohara for 4 in midfield then they get a goal and whole momentum changes. Maybe bringing carroll on at that point for 352 as done later would have worked as has done before. We are 5th equal in league with won some games we were lucky in and lost and drew some that we could have got more from and after the debacle of league cup where I did fear for us in league this season as we were abysmal 1st round of games can be viewed as being ok and certainly better than most of us thought in August. Van veen and roberts not getting on last night i think was telling unless they cant play 2 in a week and keeping them for sunday but i think alexander is maybe a bit let down buy their lack of application. Shields looks busy enough but other than run by power and chip into box his hold up play and other stuff was wee bit lacking in quality and can only be expected as he has took a big jump in quality.

That today sums up the league. Nothing between any of teams. Big difference was their keeper who is huge and comes and dominates the box so any wee dink into the box he claims whereas kelly who I like but the reason he is at us is coz he is too wee to be top class although he is up there with best in league at shotstopping. We had loads of balls into box today got a goal ruled out for a foul and a penalty for one where they only had a few and scored from 2. Both their goals a big keeper would have claimed the ball I feel and the crosser cant put it as close to goal coz he knows that will happen. Midfield today I felt were all in wrong positions. Why not goss on left grimy on right and slattery in middle. Grimmy isn't gd enough on ball to be in middle and other 2 were having to cut back all time. Ohara in middle with slattery on right and goss on left going forward I feel is worth a chance. Wooley had a couple of gd moves in 1st half. watt was busy but van veen poor although subs on up front hardly touched the ball when on. Some of our fans at game being really negative just before we equalised which yes I get their frustrated but it does wind me up and demoralised players I'd imagine. As I said nothing in game look at stats and their very even . I'm starting to think 352 might be better same as others so that if kelly cant come for cross balls then we need another defender in there to help out . Decisions Decisions.

I reckon the hype that would be generated amongst fans would be greater than cup finals. Yes it could get messy if we were to get pumped in all games but if we were to play games v say a spurs or ac milan or somebody similar it would be amazing. Watching football is all about experiences and a boring shit game for neutrals but us winning with an OG last minute v big gun would be legendary for us all.

Yes but getting the ball from our defence and providing passes to forwards looks like what he is gd at. Donnelly last week was poor and slattery looks to have something about him. I feel we should have too much for what looks to be a relegation team in dundee and I hope tomorrow proves it. Really looking forward to 1st away day since?? Hearts? Cant remember now been so long. Totally agree with o'Neill. When he was going off where we were sitting in east stand next to cooper all around us and beyond started clapping and drowned out minority of boos from morons. He was great player for us and went on to do well for himself and always spoke highly of us. Back to game and I enjoyed it other than result. They always looked dangerous but I felt we had big chances too that just never happened. I feel a lot better and more optimistic than I did last week anyway. Why was Newell or gogig I think not booked for grabbing our players around waist and stopping break always? Ref was poor imo and Carroll incident in 1st half was 50 50. The penalty now I've seen it was right decision as if hand not there it's on target. Also canny believe only 3500 well fans as burrows said through week very limited in jh and limited in cooper I feel the club missed out a wee bit here as no doubt there were a lot of well fans not able to get a ticket. On paper looks to be good and exciting signing. He would certainly have to be good on the ball to be in any england underage squad as well as being at Southampton academy. Here's hoping he doesn't think it's going to be easy up here as he will soon find out it isn't. These are type of signings I have always felt we should be going for (released from epl or even our big 2) at a gd age however I dont know the financial situation to do this and I always thought they must be out our range. With o'connor in from Leicester and now slattery its 2 who have been around top players day in day out. Some experience now to go alongside them such as the Finnish boy mentioned would seem to be good business. On the pitch will tell it's own story as ever.

As gutted as anyone about last night and canny believe we are getting dominated by league 1 teams. It looks simple to sort imo and that is we need 2 midfielders one to link attack and midfield and 1 to link defense and attack ala turnbull and gorrin. Hard part is finding them but our 3 last night and against queens park just stand in same position with no movement and i am not exaggerating here when I say none of them want the ball they just want to stay in their position and defend. We were on half way line watching last night so a good view and a lot of time our defenders were on 18 yard line 3 midfielders all about 30 yards out in a line and our strikers 10 to 20 yards inside airdries half, the gap was massive and meant if our strikers got a long ball up which they often did they had no one to lay it off to and airdrie defenders just kicked it away. I dont know if its GA tactics or midfield arent good enough or a bit of both but its worrying and we will need to get lucky during games in league if we are going to do much with that midfield. A lot are saying that wont be midfield for start of league but it looks as if it well could be. Id take rhys mccabe off them and liam brown back from queens park as although only 1 game v us they are better than any of our 3 and they both want and are comfortable on ball. Maguire i feel has something as hes fit and mobile and competetive but he needs 2 ball players next to him so he just has to charge about and also why at 6ft1 is he out taking corners it infuriates me. Robinsons midfield 3 was always set up and you could see what their role was and since GA came in I have not seen any game where i thought our midfield was in control as we won games at end last year through cole watt and roberts. Some of our performances were dire but as we scraped wins it covered shortcomings. Maybe Donnely will make a big difference and ohara but the majority of games midfield is where the game is won and lost and those 2 are out more than in. a front 3 of KVV Woolery and Watt has potential and I notice someone said Roberts has been moaning at hearts so he would be good to get back and watt maybe play just off KVV. We could go on and on but Ya Bezzer post about the players only here for a wee while and no really bothered is totally true but as always we will be there and hoping it improves and every now and again get a bit excited again its what being a Well fan is all about.

That's a great point wee yin. And 100% correct. Our midfield has been really poor this season and other than love in for campbell totally justified . When polworth was top assists in league he was still getting grief on here for being a "shitebag lazy bugger" who's set pieces were worst ever. It was hilarious and I wish we had someone in that form now. A midfielder who always wants the ball I hope is a priority.

Would love it to happen and all the pessimists saying it would be the end of Scottish football are imo wide of the mark. Yes sponsorship would I'm sure initially drop but football is our national sport and not like Ireland or wales where rugby is bigger. League would be very competitive and if you look at countries like Slovenia for instance they have clubs and population maybe similar to us and maribor have been in champs league. Plus the glasgow 2s fans would be going mental every 2nd week or more as they wouldn't be winning. All this pish that with money they'd be top 4 is nonsense look at likes of arsenal.newcastle Everton leeds etc I could go on who have done nothing in years. Their support would plummet I believe. All this talk of colts teams is I believe coz if they went to another league it allows their fans still to be involved in all the towns all over scotland supporting them in Scotland. Yes we like him coz hes one of our own and I like him due to this also but if we are honest midfielders in my day I am (49) were the best players on the park with the no 9 a greedy fucker who could win you games. It's still same now but our midfield there are none who are really good football players. Maguire is best of them all imo but if you compare him to gorrin Rodriguez for instance he is miles behind. Our forwards are good and have potential but due to midfield limitations we are going to struggle. Polworth who I rate will be getting better by the week by not playing.

Yes it was scary at end and the subs like robinsons were so negative and invited them to come at us. But and it's a big but if it wasnt for utd keeper we would have scored 5/6 or more. Kelly has made 2 great saves and we are praising him to high heavens so let's not forget our forward play which was best wev been all season. Cole outstanding with watt not far behind and even long with his best game in a year. I dont know where that performance came from and other than last 15 mins it was very good and another step forward from county game. We are improving rapidly and thank god for that.

Simple analogy Ropy but definitely the right one. It seems simple to try and get the best players at clubs at a lower level. Nisbet has shown if you are top player in championship and young and hungry then chances of success in spfl are high. I felt with the money we had banked year before then surely we should have been in market for him and maybe be were for all I know. This is where sometimes we have to take a risk as 250k was obviously now looking like money well spent. Also I feel more youth from other spfl clubs that for whatever reason it is not happening for them at clubs they are at. Dean campbell for instance at aberdeen always looks tidy on ball but is only a bit part player for them but was one of top players in under age scotland teams for years. Low risk and low wages I think but with potential.

Totally 100% agree ya bezzer it winds me up. I see it all the way down at boys football where a simple 10 yard pass from a player that keeps the ball and opens up pitch doesn't get any reaction but someone charges in and kicks ball out park gets big well done . Its reason campbell gets as much praise on here also but let's be honest his passing and awareness and shooting are miles behind Maguire but as he is busy about pitch he gets a lot of plaudits. Football is simple in that if you have the ball other team cant score but a lot of players dont want the ball coz they are scared and that is worrying. Top players are always available for the ball as well as always charging about the park.

In games v us last year I was impressed by him and was shocked when I looked him up and saw his age as I hadn't heard of him before. He imo is better than any of our midfield based on last years games v us and that includes campbell. He passes the ball tackles and as shown v us scores . For whatever reason he is out st mirren team but he cant just suddenly have went pish. Maybe a fall out? Who knows but we desperately need midfielders
