  1. Where I agree with most of what you are saying I think there is an argument for saying it lacks ambition. Firstly , in the SPL you have a chance at playing European football. Not every year i will grant you that. And IMO a player has a better chance of playing for Scotland when playing in the SPL than they do the Championship or League 1. I have stated several times that i don't blame players for leaving for the money just admit it. Honesty is all I want as a fan. Am I asking for too much?
  2. Exactly, thats why it gets on my tits when people are coming on and moaning about signing players from said league and not only moaning but can't even think of one single alternative. The problem is we can't afford established anymore so the best thing we can do is put our trust in the management team and the players that he is bringing in. And back to Hughes alot of those games were probably as subs (apologies if that stat you have provided is starting appearances) and at the end of the day they got rid of him so it shows what they thought of him.
  3. He never dominated games at all thats just wearing blinkers now. He was a decent player for us thats all he couldn't lace O'Donnel's boots. He was far too inconsistent to be a 'class act' . You said it Norwich were in the premiership not that long ago. Hull were in league 2 but now there one of the big boys. Would you choose Norwich because they used to be one of the big boys so did Bradford. He went to League 1 because that is his level and he will get a sensational wage for that league. Let's not distort the facts here.
  4. If Hughes was a 'regular' at Rangers he wouldn't have moved to Leicester. McLeish didn't rate him and thats why he left. The same goes for McCormack. And with Lappin you have proved my point - done well in the SPL and not so well down south. League 1 isn't neccessarily a lower level than the SPL. As for Porter I'm not really sure why your bringing up him again because if you read my post I agree with you on that one. This is the market we have to work with. I don't suppose you have players in mind as alternatives to the 3 we have signed.......?
  5. I'm sorry but Hughes wasn't even geting a game for Leicester , Lappin wasn't getting a game for Norwich nor McCormack for Rangers so IMO they were all gambles apart from Porter. And the 'why are we signing players from League 1 and 2' brigade would probably think even Porter was a gamble. Another decent player signed form a lower level than us........Stuart Elliot. Motherwell have to gamble on players and it is always gonna be that way. We can't afford seasoned 'quality' pros. If they are that good they won't want to come.
  6. That's the problem thats it. A 'class' act is overstating things because if he is that good then he would be signing for a better team than Norwich.
  7. Can we have Macheda as well please?
  8. Great game! We took 7 points from Celtic that season was the Barnes and Dalglish season. We beat them at Parkhead 1-0 and Twaddle scored. We got someone sent off that night as well think it was Big Buff.
  9. I don't normally drink Jim Beam and Strongbow but a might just start the night and when it's all finished phone the dick and tell him what I really think of him
  10. Mon the Muvverwell Jim O ' Brien's interview was quite good as well. I am liking his confidence.
  11. I agree 100% on the financial aspect that comment was a joke. The only problem I have is why they come out and say I don't wan't to move away and I haven't ruled out not being at Motherwell. There was no way anyone outside the OF was going to offer him 7k a week. It just reeks of dishonest hypocrisy IMO. Anyway he was shite last season! Good riddance enjoy Delia's prawn sandwiches!
  12. Honestly I'm no arguing with the money side I agree 100%. I was saying that comment tounge in cheek. The
  13. If he can't feed his family on 2 grand a week then he has a problem
  14. Toastie actually springs to mind now I think about it more. He may have scored the first goal though.
  15. It was the junkies but a can't remember the score cause I wasn't at the game. I remember Jamie Dolan went in goals against the Tattie Munchers as well and the game was 1 all and we ended up winning 2-1. Can't remember who scored.
  16. That indicates that someone must have live coverage which means us as the home team are due some money. I wonder who bought the rights to the game......
  17. There's a new one injuries during goal celebrations. I remember being at Swinecastle and we beat the junkies 2-0 and a think Derek Adams scored the second and when i jumped up I tumble doon about 8 rows and cracked ma ribs. Was sore as hell. I was telling that story many years later when we played the Junkies in the cup at Tynecastle after Uncle Phil died and nearly done the very same again when Porter scored the equaliser. What a moment that was as well!
  18. I actually have the goals of that game on a DVD. It lasts about 30 seconds but it is quality nonetheless. Can anyone remember Bobby Russel's goal against Celtic in the last minute at the tattie bowl. I think it was 1988 or there abouts and I think Dougie scored for us that day and Andy Walker equalised for the manky mob, but Russel's goal was a belter.
  19. Wishats goal was a belter of a run to get on the end a cross to the bank post a think. I have it on video somewhere. Also Interesting during that game you heard the chants of ' Terry Butcher you're a Wan*er' Little did we know about 12 years or so later that he would be somewhat of a hero
  20. I agree with that but there is no need to come out and say it is one thing when he knows it's going to boil down to money at then end of the day. Because I don't think anyone in the SPL outside the old firm can afford to pay the 7k a week that Norwich a reported as paying him. I also agree with the sentiment that we don't want him playing against us
  21. How do you know the 3 signings we haven't aren't the 'quality' players we need?
  22. But over the tie we didn't do it the easy way because we lost at home first! But I do know what you mean
