Commercial Partners Threat To Scottish Football
nethertonwellfan replied to Brazilian's topic in Club Chat
It has gone beyond the vote now. All the cloak and daggers meetings paints Scottish football in a corrupt light. The document released last week was a disgrace and gave the impression that the clubs were voting no in the knowledge this was coming out. However, it has come to light that the clubs were not consulted on this. If I was a chairman of a club I would be irate that I hadn't been consulted and would have made my fans aware of this. Our club did nothing which still leads me to beleive that they are in favour of it. It is a position I can't accept. However, I am now interested in the league expansion aspect of it. It doesn't mean I will accept it but I will listen and weigh up the pros and cons and then make a decision. -

Jay, I am the same. I am sick of this whole situation and I just want it to end. I too feel that the fans will be shafted either whatever happens. The question is can the fans get any crumb of comfort from the shafting. I (and a lot of other fans in Scotland) have been in favour of an expanded league for years and years and opposed the plans for a 10 team league. Now there is a chance of that expanded league and yes there is a price to pay for that and yes we are forcing and bribing the other SFL clubs. I have said that if Rangers go anywhere other than the 3rd I will walk away. This isn't an idle threat because I will. However, today I have just had the carrot that I have always wanted dangled in front of my eyes and I'm thinking again. I'm thinking again because I don't want to walk away from Motherwell, I still want to attend games because it has been a big part of my life for 25 years. After some consideration I might reject it and stick to my guns but I need to ask myself if I'm willing to compromise. -

I think it is time that we started getting league members to sign contracts that commit members to the league. Could you imagine if this year Rangers and/Celtic wereupping sticks and joining the Premiership. Would they be giving a monkeys about the good of Scottish football then? No they would be prepared to let all these to teams mentioned go under. -

A much as I am fiercely opposed to Rangers in any other league bar the 3rd division I could live with the propsal which will lead to the 16 team league. It may be a compromise I am willing to accept, however I have to ask myself whether I will be selling my soul or not. -

Sorry for my ignorance. I have no idea how I possibly missed this. So is this what is happening if the SFL vote a Rangers in to the first division? If so the Belgian model was mentioned and it now makes sense as to why St Mirren favour a Rangers in the first division, because ot was their idea in the first place. -

The very fact refusing the newco share transfer is in breach of a contract is a disgrace. -
I'm going to shock you here steelboy and agree with you. The criticism of the club on this issue is well over the top in my opinion. I am quite happy with the pricing and hope as many you as possible realise that sporting integrity does have it's cost. Where I probabaly disagree with steelboy is I feel we should take the hit and he doesn't. Nevertheless, whatever side of the fence you come down on the fans have to support the club here. This is probably only the first examples of us having to put our hands in our pocket to help the club through what looks like a rocky period. More than ever the club will be starting to feel what is the bloody point. If this is a test that the club set us (the day before the vote) to see if we can handle the consequences then quite frankly, we must do better.

So let me get this right, you are quite happy to let Rangers and Celtic cheat there way through football and however serious they are safe in the knowledge that they are untouchable because we need their money. I am sorry but that is no way to run sport never mind a business.

There was a very small time window to vote, perhaps there were people on holiday.

I will wait to see how things develop over the next few days before buying a ticket. If Motherwell do the right thing by the fans then I will do right by them. I will buy one for me and a full price ticket for my nephew who is 14. I will also buy a ticket for my girlfriend who probably won't go.

Straight Question(S) To The Board Of Mfc Re. Sfl Proposal
nethertonwellfan replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
If it's a secret ballot then it's utter cowardice from the SPL clubs. It seems that the full of Scottish football are scared to make a decision. -

Straight Question(S) To The Board Of Mfc Re. Sfl Proposal
nethertonwellfan replied to Steve Diggle's topic in Club Chat
On Sportsound the guy that reads emails and breaks any latest news said "I have just been handed a piece of paper, now you'll remember we were told that Motherwell fans will decide how the club vote but we have learned that isn't necessarily the case....." Then he read out the results, that coupled with the silence on the issue from the board and Flow making several responses in the CL thread makes me extremely concerned. How hard is it for them to come out and say "We will be voting......." -

A wee so tomorrow we will be voting No would be good considering the radio were saying that it didn't mean they will be voting this way. Even the guy who reported it sound surprised so obviously he has heard it from somewhere. -

Could this be the real reason for Mr Weir stepping down as VC yesterday? Ok we will let the society members vote and if it's a yes we will vote yes and champion the society and say it was a fan decision. If it's a no vote then we will say it was only a consultation process and say we know best. -

The club need to answer some serious questions here. This saga is a disgrace and the club have gone very silent. -
Is this the way that Motherwell will vote tomorrow? The radio are reporting that this may not be the case.
