  1. About bloody time and maybe now all those who said standing was against the law will be eating their words .
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16236784.stm
  3. I know what you're saying Kmcalpin but I don't agree that we 100% need to improve our home form in order to stay in 3rd. I think as long as we are doing what we are doing just now. I think we're averaging about 1.8 points a game (something like that) and whether we win at home or away as long as we stay round about that average we will walk 3rd place. If our home form was better we would be challenging for the title. So aye let's improve our home form so we can get in to the champions league Plus last season we were losing these games by the odd goal (St Mirren and Kille at home spring to mind) so every little helps as the say.
  4. Even better, 33/1 Motherwell 4-0 and 25/1 Higdon hat-trick
  5. Jim Spence error amended.
  6. If true both testimonials are well deserved.
  7. Some quality posts on this thread. I wonder if a few people have changed their tune. I certanly have
  8. See you raise a good point though. I would let the mistake slide if we had one other European adventure since then but for heavens sake we have been to Llanelli, Vlore, Bucharest, Briedablik, Aalesunds and Odense since Nancy which he describes as the "last" time. I can forgive a mistake cause we all make them (even me ) but that is just shocking. To think we're paying his wages too.
  9. Jim Spence on this subject. Spot the mistake in the first sentence.
  10. Nobody is actually disputing that Dazzer. £1.5 million is an unbeleivable offer for him and I for one don't think he is worth that fee. I won't complain if we get it though.
  11. 1st and 2nd go to the Champions League. 3rd and 4th go to The Europa League. The winners of the Scottish go in to the Europa. If the Scottish cup winners have already qualified for the Champions League then that spot goes to the runner up of the Scottish Cup. If the runner-up of the Scottish Cup has also Qualified for the Champions League then 5th Place goes in to the Europa. If the Winner or runner up of the Scottish Cup has already secured a place in the Europa league then 5th place get's a spot in the Europa. All very complicated but hopefully we won't need it
  12. Motherwell will always lose games that we "should" be winning David whether we finish in the top 3 or the bottom 3. the last time we finished third we got pumped 3-0 at home to Falkirk. When we finished second we got hammered against Dundee United (6-1 I think). I think it's more important that we beat the teams in and around us. As long as wee keep around our points average then we will finish 3rd no problem irrespective of who we pick up the wins against.
  13. And it was a joyous day
  14. 57 points was enough for 3rd the last time under McGhee and I think it'll be enough again.
  15. Why not? You thought the AWAY game at St Johnstone would be different to all the other away games bar two. What was it you said? We'll struggle to score goals and get pumped 3-0? Just proves you go against form when it suits your negative attitude.
  16. Anybody got a loan of a motor so I can drive him doon? Mental money for a mediocre player.
  17. According to Jeff Stelling when we made it 4 that was a club record.
  18. That Coventry City away kit from the 70s is absolutley minging
  19. He did say that before the game about the 20k. I don't think we would have lost money on food as such anyway because alot of people by their food when they come in plus the game wasn't called off right on the half time whistle so people would have still been going to the kiosks. Anyway do we not sell the contracts for the catering, therefore it would have been someone else who lost out, no? Do correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm no 100%.
  20. Tam Cowan said we took a 20k hit on Friday night which was a deliberate attempt to try and retain some of the extra fans. If we somehow managed to succed in that then the 20k would be a solid investment over the course of a year. Obviously things don't work that way.
  21. They only need to say the word and they'll be sorted
  22. I'm no saying Friday night football is the answer but I don't see a problem in trying it out? What have we got to lose? I totally understand the point about reducing the prices and giving away free tickets totally flaws any increase in attendance. All I'm saying is what if behind the scenes at the SPL, Motherwell have been arguing for a reduced pricing structure (which needs to be across the board). The Hibs support proves that if you reduce the price to what the product is worth then more people will come to games. Personally I don't agree with changing the day to Friday but at least they gave it a go. Friday nights will suit some people more than a Saturday 1500 and vice versa. The main problem with Scottish Football is the price and as much as people like to think that crowds are bigger when playing in the traditional Saturday slot, it is just not true because we still can't attract 5 thousand fans.
  23. I don't buy this only play the games at 1500 on a Saturday. The crowds are falling for those fuxtures too. The fact is attendances are falling across the board in Scotland whether it's midweek, Saturday/Sunday lunchtime etc. The more I think about it I actually commend the SPL and Motherwell as a club for trying it out. They try it out and it doesn't work whats the problem? At least they gave it a go. Now you may argue that the ticket offer and the reduced pricing flawed the experiment of Friday night football, however behind the scenes what if Motherwell we arguing that pricing is a major factor in falling attendances and have shown the SPL that Friday night football combined with the correct pricing structure works. You just have to look at the Hibs support to see that it has. The fact people need to understand is football in this country is failing and the falling attendances prove that. There is nothing wrong with testing the water. 100 initiatives may fail but you never know you may just find that 1 thing that is the catalyst for a better Scottish Football. There is on thing for certain, if they powers that be were doing hee haw they would be getting crucified.
