Who did we actually let go? Reynolds fair enough but we got much needed cash for him and it will rise if Wednesday are promoted. We haven't really missed him as we have a more than capable replacement. Blackman - was going anyway and we tried to get him back but he rejected us. We signed Grella and if it wasn't for 30 odd fucking minutes he would have been a replacement for Blackman. Fitzy - A lot of people are happy with this and we have replaced him with Jones. Right I'm struggling to think of any others that have left never mind players who we let leave. And just how it hampers future signing is beyond me. Edit: Before you mention Gow he hardly kicked a ball and wasn't worth his wage.

I think he should have just signed any old shite just to shut people up on these boards. there is hardly any decent players out there in January. The real test is in the summer.

Well I had a fantastic sleep last night and have woken up today with the worst butterflies ever. I have already been sick and I am due to be again. As for the score I have no idea. Will we get hammered? Possibly. Will we go in front and lose the game in the last 10 minutes? Possibly. Will we score after 3 minutes and sit back and hang on grimly with the result being no Motherwell fan having not 1 fingernail between them? Possibly. This is Motherwell FC and the 24 years or so that I have been going to games anything is possible. We win games we expect to get gubbed and vice versa. I remember Billy Davies' first game up in Perth we lost 5-0 to a St Johnstone side that had recently lost 7-0 to a Rangers side that we would be facing next. You can imagine all the predictions for the game. Even I believed we were going to get hammered. Well we didn't as we won 1-0. The season we finished bottom of the league we beat everyone in the top half of the table including Rangers and Celtic. Who would have thunk it eh? It will be that spirit that I will take in to today's game. That spirit that anything can happen in Football. We may well get humped but I not going to let the fear of that spoil my day at Hampden. Just a wee lesson for you. Motherwell had over 30 applications for the vacant (at the time) manager's post. Some were managers and assistants of other clubs. That meant we had to pay compensation to get them. We discounted them right away for obvious reasons! At the first interview stage Chris Sutton, Ricky Sbragia, Stuart McCall and the Blackburn boy (forgot his name ) were spoken too. The board quickly discounted Sutton because he is pish! They also quickly made the decision that McCall was the right man for the job because he showed a commitment that the other 2 did not. During the interviews the other 2 expressed doubts that Motherwell was the right move for them and refused to move their families up to Motherwell. Stuart McCall was the complete opposite. Ans the rest they say is history my friends......

Motherwell are in talks with players not even mentioned by the press. Why would the club leak the name of a potential signing? That would only alert other clubs of the availability of said player and could jeopardise the signing. We just need to have patience.

What was said though was that there would be a review after 3 years but nothing was guaranteed. Judging by the opposition to the proposals maybes will not convince them (well they certainly will not convince me).

I have to agree with Jam on this one. Derek and Leeann spoke really well and you get the feeling that the club are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Reading between the lines the club are in favour of expanding the leagues but Hibs and Aberdeen are blocking it (not the Old Firm, all they care about is getting 4 OF derbies a season) because of the amount of money that they owe the banks. A 14 team league was proposed and rejected by 6 of the clubs because a split would have to occur in January. This would mean clubs that were a bit away from relegation would have nothing to play for , for half a season. That is a sound argument. The club outlined the positives of a 10 team league which included an earlier start to the season an end to the split and better prize money (x10 of the current level) for the second tier. They have said that this should come from the prize money for finishing in 1st and 2nd in the SPL which is currently 35% of the TV money. The alternative was from the SFA who give no funding to it's member clubs. So the choice that faces the club is the status quo that is driving away fans or a ten team league that will drive away fans. It's not an easy choice is it? Away from the reconstruction both representatives of the club gave honest answers regarding Craig Brown and Archie Knox's departures and you get the feeling that they feel as betrayed as we do. I could go on forever but on Derek I have to say is a gent and has Motherwell at his heart and you can see that in not only the way he spoke about Motherwell but also Aberdeen . Before the event he came up to my friend and I and spoke to us for about 15 minutes explaining things that happened in the last few months within the club. It was his choice to do this and we respected that. He is Motherwell born and bred and I feel alot more positive about Motherwell's position in all of this if not Scottish Football as a whole. And one last thing Derek wants you to know that Stuart McCall was FIRST CHOICE for the job and anything other you have read in the papers is BOLLOCKS.
